I have 2 pits both under a year. The only thing i can't stand is when ppl think its cool or "ok" to dock their ears. There is no reason to do that! Leave their ears alone.
Beautiful dog. People need to learn to appreciate and respect the breed. My 4 year old female is such a sweet heart with kids and has never bit anyone but is a great watch dog and protective of my girlfriend and me.
I have a pit bull.... & I know that these dogs tend to not show pain (unless extreme). It is a defense mechanism to not allow others know that you are in pain (more likely to be attacked/abandoned by pack in the wild).

I have to agree with pitllover cropping any dogs ear is unnecessary and cruel in my opinion I have a pit and 4 other dogs never would I do such a pointless thing but I'm glad to see this dog looks happy and is not being mistreated outs a smile on my face..love all the pics by the way he would've looked better with his natural floppy ears though..in my opinion @ least
Great Pitty :) Ive got two here in Australia, they are getting old now, 10 and 11 but still going strong. We have the same ignorant media driven pitbull stigma over here, We can only fly pits on one Airline (big ups Virgin!). We are no longer allowed to own pitbulls without them being castrated and they are not allowed to be bought into the country in the governments attempt to wipe out the breed completely. Livestock and work animals were cared for like the assets they were, but not like family members. Doyle, however, is family. He lives inside and sleeps in the bed with the people of the family. He eats home-cooked meals and gets his teeth brushed. He might have endured unnecessary surgery, but I assure you that he is lucky compared to most dogs in this area.

What a wonderful video -- and dog! We have two pit bull mixes and they are just the sweetest, happiest dogs I've ever met. One of our dogs ever tries to mother the foster kittens we bring home. If you've ever seen a pit bull playing with four-week-old kittens, you will NEVER be scared of them again.

They are only unpredictable to people who are NOT paying attention. When we are in public places, I constantly pay attention to my dogs' non-verbal cues. @khestal : I have no tendency for such things, but my husband likes the look. Just like parents who pierce a toddlers ears or circumcise a newborn's penis. There are some "benefits" to cropping, but they are a weak argument for a "inside", docile animal. It was a compromise for me (He wanted to crop the tail also), and one that we have not repeated with our second "child."

But his owner did what he wanted, and I just loved the dog through it. And yes, many parents make decisions to put their babies through unnecessary surgery (circumcision) or piercings. At least my dog got anesthesia, which human infants do not get (when circumcised.) Go back to your throne and close your eyes to reality.

I almost got attacked by a pitbull once when i was going to a friend's house! but avoided by stopping my bike and not letting him think that i was something to chase... im guessing the dog had just escaped from it's home. I'm guessing another person or kid because i was a a kid at that time would have ran and instead and gotten bitten, but in a way it would have been provoked by the "chase". you just need to understand dogs or just animals.. i suppose.

What is the purpose of cropping the ears.. only to make them look "cooler"? People that fight these dogs crop the ears to keep them from being ripped off from an opponent dog, but I dont understand why a responsible breeder or owner would want to crop the ears for any other reason that looks alone.. keep it natural, it looks way better that way.

i never understood the cropping of a dog's ears. i understand cropping the ears or docking the tail if they are working dogs to prevent injury but not strictly family dogs. that being said this dog does look happy and in a loving family. and i agree that any dog can be dangerous. i know when my dog is irritated and i intervene right away before it gets too far, seems like a lot of owners don't that.
I am the proud owner of three of these amazing dogs, we also have two cats and a huge number of kids always coming in and out of the house! And you know what? The dogs are the most mellow creatures and never harmed another person or creature. Your dog looks just as beautiful and loving as mine! Screw the haters and the ignorant people out there! @182wardy: I am NOT a parent- I don't really like kids. And you are the idiot. Anybody who knows about dogs knows that pit bulls are just that - dogs. There is nothing about the breed that increases their desire to attack. Doyle has never attacked anything- and he has been bitten several times by other rude dogs at the dog park. He just takes it and keeps playing... and dogs should never be left unsupervised around children. They are small, they squeal, and they run around like prey.
@lowlowe24 ... they pull the dog's ears, tail, they get into the dog food, take the dog's toy and what not. I have seen my toddler son to do the most gawdawful things to my bull terrier who, by the way was a real scrapper with other male canines, but he was always very patient with my boy. I agree with you, all dogs have to be trained and they should ALWAYS know who is the alpha male in the pack.
@182wardy: When trained, pit's are great with kids- Doyle automatically knows to be gentle with kids- He doesn't jump, and does not open his mouth when he plays with kids- He nudges them with the top of his head. If a child offers him food, he waits until the kid sticks the food out to him, then he takes it gently. If the kid smacks him too hard, he runs and stands behind me. If a stranger approaches the child, he gets between them until he sees (by our reaction) if they are safe.

One night, some crackhead wondered into my yard, and he was barking, and growling at this guy, long and loud enough to alert my roommate who met him with a gun. The only reason I tell this story is, I know that my sweet little boy would have ripped that man to shreads for trying to steal my property.

@CaptainRon1913 O.K., a neighbors lab attacked and killed a six year old girl over the weekend. The girl had managed to get into the neighbors yard and the lab attacked. All dogs are capable. I have bunch of other stories as well. Labs are just as 'bitey' as pits, and don't get me started on toy breeds.

Beautiful dog! I have a pit too as well as a poodle and a shepherd mix and Ezra my pit is the biggest baby! The poodle runs the famiily. They get along so well.I just wish you hadnt cropped his ears ..it's a senseless procedure :-(

Hi, I was just wondering if you still have Doyle. I see this is from the "First two years" of his life, and sadly, all the pits I rescue are dumped right at 2 years of age (that is when they reach adolescence and go through a stage of being difficult if not trained properly from puppyhood). I really hope you still have him and didnt dump him at 2 yrs like most ppl do. If u do have him, post more vids! He is GORGEOUS! :)
@IIn3cy : Doyle is 6 now, and is still the joy he always has been. 6 Months ago, he was joined by a white pit bull named Ruger. I hope to have enough time to make another video soon. I also need more pictures. When the camera comes out, Doyle usually steps in front of the lens. Frustrating!

"Ear cropping" was originally intended for fighting dogs, keeps the other dog from ripping it off.
It's considered animal cruelty by some.
I would never put my dog through that, just 2 make him look tuff.

Great Pitty :) Ive got two here in Australia, they are getting old now, 10 and 11 but still going strong. We have the same ignorant media driven pitbull stigma over here, We can only fly pits on one Airline (big ups Virgin!). We are no longer allowed to own pitbulls without them being castrated and they are not allowed to be bought into the country in the governments attempt to wipe out the breed completely. @pitllover ,,, Do I still seem so monstrous? Grandfather grew up where there were no veterinarians., let alone dog shows. Livestock and work animals were cared for like the assets they were, but not like family members. Doyle, however, is family. He lives inside and sleeps in the bed with the people of the family. He eats home-cooked meals and gets his teeth brushed. He might have endured unnecessary surgery, but I assure you that he is lucky compared to most dogs in this area.

What a wonderful video -- and dog! We have two pit bull mixes and they are just the sweetest, happiest dogs I've ever met. One of our dogs ever tries to mother the foster kittens we bring home. If you've ever seen a pit bull playing with four-week-old kittens, you will NEVER be scared of them again.

They are only unpredictable to people who are NOT paying attention. When we are in public places, I constantly pay attention to my dogs' non-verbal cues. @khestal : I have no tendency for such things, but my husband likes the look. Just like parents who pierce a toddlers ears or circumcise a newborn's penis. There are some "benefits" to cropping, but they are a weak argument for a "inside", docile animal. It was a compromise for me (He wanted to crop the tail also), and one that we have not repeated with our second "child."

But his owner did what he wanted, and I just loved the dog through it. And yes, many parents make decisions to put their babies through unnecessary surgery (circumcision) or piercings. At least my dog got anesthesia, which human infants do not get (when circumcised.) Go back to your throne and close your eyes to reality.

I almost got attacked by a pitbull once when i was going to a friend's house! but avoided by stopping my bike and not letting him think that i was something to chase... im guessing the dog had just escaped from it's home. I'm guessing another person or kid because i was a a kid at that time would have ran and instead and gotten bitten, but in a way it would have been provoked by the "chase". you just need to understand dogs or just animals.. i suppose.

What is the purpose of cropping the ears.. only to make them look "cooler"? People that fight these dogs crop the ears to keep them from being ripped off from an opponent dog, but I dont understand why a responsible breeder or owner would want to crop the ears for any other reason that looks alone.. keep it natural, it looks way better that way.

i never understood the cropping of a dog's ears. i understand cropping the ears or docking the tail if they are working dogs to prevent injury but not strictly family dogs. that being said this dog does look happy and in a loving family. and i agree that any dog can be dangerous. i know when my dog is irritated and i intervene right away before it gets too far, seems like a lot of owners don't that.

There is nothing about the breed that increases their desire to attack. Doyle has never attacked anything- and he has been bitten several times by other rude dogs at the dog park. I have seen my toddler son to do the most gawdawful things to my bull terrier who, by the way was a real scrapper with other male canines, but he was always very patient with my boy. I agree with you, all dogs have to be trained and they should ALWAYS know who is the alpha male in the pack.

@182wardy: When trained, pit's are great with kids- Doyle automatically knows to be gentle with kids- He doesn't jump, and does not open his mouth when he plays with kids- He nudges them with the top of his head. If a child offers him food, he waits until the kid sticks the food out to him, then he takes it gently. If the kid smacks him too hard, he runs and stands behind me. If a stranger approaches the child, he gets between them until he sees (by our reaction) if they are safe.

I have bunch of other stories as well. Labs are just as 'bitey' as pits, and don't get me started on toy breeds.

Beautiful dog! I have a pit too as well as a poodle and a shepherd mix and Ezra my pit is the biggest baby! The poodle runs the famiily. They get along so well.I just wish you hadnt cropped his ears ..it's a senseless procedure :-(

sooo cute and wonderful, we have a staffy and i love her to death and loves our puggle, and i would like to thank the poster of this video cause where i live there is a lot of Breed hating here and it breaks my heart, and to see this makes me SMILE!

nice little pit bull was dropped off in front of my house.... it was a shame too. he had parvo. almost died. we nursed him back to health though... hes happy now :) i look forward to him living a long and beautiful life

Hi, I was just wondering if you still have Doyle. I see this is from the "First two years" of his life, and sadly, all the pits I rescue are dumped right at 2 years of age (that is when they reach adolescence and go through a stage of being difficult if not trained properly from puppyhood). I really hope you still have him and didnt dump him at 2 yrs like most ppl do. If u do have him, post more vids! He is GORGEOUS! :)

@IIn3cy : Doyle is 6 now, and is still the joy he always has been. 6 Months ago, he was joined by a white pit bull named Ruger. I hope to have enough time to make another video soon. I also need more pictures. When the camera comes out, Doyle usually steps in front of the lens. Frustrating!
