I believe that Jack, once his brain is in Fred's body, would totaly be himself, mind and soul, and I also believe that Jack would probably take on alot of Freds habits, likes and dislikes... Jack's soul will travel with his consciousness, and maybe just a little piece of Fred's would remain too, I've heard of transplant patients kinda taking on the likes and dislikes of the people they got their organ from, like foods and staying in shape and other habits, so who know's lol
What you're talking about is a full body transplant. Dr. Robert White did something similar with monkeys in that he transfered the head of one onto the body of another and also showed that brain activity can still be detected in animal brains kept alive outside of the body. Now, assuming you could get the cranial and spinal nerves to "knit", you'd basically have Jack's mind in Fred's body but nothing left of Fred's consciousness.
if a brain transplant is legal this will totally blow off all of the religious views. lol. socrates and plato thinks the mind is speparable from the body. guess that's what they meant xD
Actually i don't see any way that that would disprove the existence of a soul. The soul is not a physical entity and there is no reason that it could not reside within the brain itself or in another plain of reality all together. One thing is certain though, no Christians think that the soul exists in the BODY itself so it really would have nothing to do with the soul being real or not.

The soul is seated in the heart, not in the brain.
Why would you think something would "happen" to the soul after a brain transplant?

One would suggest that they'd be soul-dered together...

@darthrain875 Don't be a fool, the soul and a brain are two different things.

I've noticed a distinct lack of takers on this challenge.
