I just was diagnosed yesterday with shingles for the first time and damn it hurts. I have on the right side of my abdomen and no pain med seems to help with the aching and burning. Shingles suck!
i just got shingles today and it's affecting the whole right side of my face.the pain is the worst i ever been through but i am on pills that dont seem to be helping and i have to double up on pain med or i am crying in pain.

You poor thing. I've been in my bed due to those creatures. I thought mine was bad, but it's is on ur face! Ur supposed to take antibiotics to slow those boogers down from multiplying. Be careful to not get them in it eyes. It can be blinding. Good luck.
@DFosterXP I only had them for about two weeks. Alot of different people have them for a different amount of time. I was considered extremely lucky at the clinic for only having them the short amount of time I did
I had shingles on my forehead and right eye. I have scars, be glad you didnt get scars. I found this clear gel call ASAP gel, its the only thing that got rid of the red, but i have some scars and it was last year Sept 26, 2010 when it started. My face was intensely itchy and I had severe headaches 2 wks before like you wouldnt believe. It was the worse experience I ever had in my life beside GERD which I now have. Life sucks... My relationship with God is really BIG now, I mean really big.

@ricadaniel17 : if you just look at my videos after this, you can see that i have no scars. But to make sure it didnt scar, i made sure not to pick or scratch. Everything will be fine as long as you dont pick or scratch anything. If it's oozing or anything, just get a wet rag or something and dab it :0 i wish you luck!

Whatever you do, DO NOT scratch, pick, or pop the blisters. This will cause extreme scarring. I had shingles a few years ago and at first I didn't know what the hell was happening to me. I thought I had some sort of bacterial or fungal infection and I treated the two largest clumps of blisters with HYDROGEN PEROXIDE (so stupid). If anyone reading this has had shingles I bet you cringed at that last sentence. The blisters I left alone did not scar whatsoever. I had to have surgery for the scars.
it seems that some of you are confusing herpes simplex(cold sores) with shingles these are different disease. they produce similar lesions but shingles usually happens once or twice in your lifetime. most of you who had several outbreaks per year seems to be talking about herpes simplex 1 not herpes zoster

OMG, I feel you! I have it on the exact line you do but on the right side of my face. I can suggest is to wash your face at least three times a day, I use my clean and clear gel wash with COLD water, and DONT PICK AT IT! With the meds it should heal fairly quickly but keeping it clean will help prevent more of the blister like clusters. BYW, keep an eye on the numbness that can follow! I am having a problem at the top of the infection site because it wen't into my ear and I am now numb there.

avoid dentist x-rays too!! that is what triggered my outbreak!! The dentist took back to back x-rays, like 7 in the same spot back to back, on the right side of my face to get a shot of my wisdom teeth and I felt the tingling start right there in the office!!

@redpoizionnena: It's a very good idea to go to the doctor, im not sure if your a type of person to refuse pain grugs, but for something like shingles, you really need it. I'm now starting to wish not to wake up tomorrow! The pain just won't stop. I can't sleep unless I take sleeping medication, and it's starting to affect my study habits. I'm at the end of a masters program, and all I want to do is never wake up. I'm allergic to neurontin, and vicodin only does so much. Please, help with your suggestions!
Hi, I was attacked by the Herpes Zoster virus July of 2008. It spread on the left side of my forehead and into my left eyebrow and the left eyelid. The pain was like no other. I was hospitalized for over a month, and by some stroke of luck didn't lose my left eye. Just a detached retina due to the menegitis. I had to stop taking the neurotin due to Stevens-Johnson syndrome. My face is scarred, lost a portion of my eyebrow, and my eyelid constantly causes pain. Yoga breathing helps.

i got it a few days ago, they aren't all that painful for me but man they are annoying as hell. just doing an every day thing makes them itchy and has a wierd sensation like someone decided to poke me with something pointed like a needle. so for most of my days i have been lying down doing nothing
I recognized the first out break on my husband and sent him to the Clinic right away.Doctor said it was wonderful that he came in within a week of the first sign and gave him a Post Perpetic Drug to take that would minimize the pain if it returned.The outbreak went no further.

i have shigles ryt now and im taking 1 tablet of gabaprentin (neurontin) 300mg, 2 tablets of valaciclovir (valtrex) 500mg every 8hours, paracetamol every 4hours and applying acyclovir (Zovirax) 50mg/g cream as topical it happens that it only appears in the half of my face now im worried if its going to leave a scar. what should i do?
As long as you dont touch or pick the scabs you should be fine. When the shingles finished i only had a scar from where I picked a scab once. So just dont touch it and you should be fine
I only thought that people in their 60s upward got singles. Sorry your going through this. A woman I know has it and she is 70 somthing. I guess anyone can get it.

the rest of my comment. The Doc says when I first start getting symptoms next time like tinkling, itching or redness in the usual Zoster zone where I seem to be getting it now to start right away with ACICLOVVIR DOROM 800MG five times a day.
I kept getting shingles and it's really depressing. It started first in 1982 on lower back. Now it's 2009 and I've gotten it more and more recently and people just don't care or understand, especially at work, how debilatating it can be. I wqent to the doctor and she gave me a bunch of vitamin prescriptions, especially Vitamin B, and a small tube of ACICLOVIR DOC 5% cream to put on it which helps but now I've used it all up.

Actually there's no cure for shingles. Cold ice or something will help stop the pain, but you will have to let it run it's course. 90% of people will only have it once, and then after a week it's gone never to come back.

I can't believe it but I think I have the chicken pox for the first time in my life at the age of 32! It started off with my whole body aching, feeling weak, and bad headaches the first couple of days. Then I noticed pimples or blisters on my scalp! Now today my whole body is covered in these blisters, my body still aches and my temperature is 100.9 degrees!
Was gonna go to the doctor but i have no insurance. Plus researching and finding out that it eventually will go away i guess.

We'll took yours and many of my friends' advice and finally went to the doctor! Sure enough it's definitely the chicken pox! Pretty much the doctor just told me to get a lot of rest, drink plenty of fluids and prescribed me some antibiotic pills (to reduce the severity of the symptoms) to take for the next few days. The fever finally drop down to normal on Sunday after 4 1/2 days (feel much better)! Now all I gotta do is wait for all these nasty blisters to dry up and fall off! Thanks, Kudos!

I just came down w/shingles 3 days ago. I have them down the back of my neck, into my left side face, neck, earlobe and upper chest. From what I've read and heard, the best you can do is relax and rest!! The shingles may make you feel anxious but try and let go of that. It isn't helpful. Nicole was telling me about this on Monday and Tuesday at lunch!! she goes "ino might have to be hospitalized b/c of shingles!!" and then on Tuesday "she didnt have to be hospitalized so thats goooood" just thought i'd tell you that..lol
I have shingles on the left side of my scalp. My doctor put me on an antibiotic and Vicodin for the pain. The Vicodin is really not doing anything.

The pain is extreme and my back hurts really bad.

I'm at the end of a masters program, and all I want to do is never wake up. I'm allergic to neurontin, and vicodin only does so much. Please, help with your suggestions!

Hi, I was attacked by the Herpes Zoster virus July of 2008. It spread on the left side of my forehead and into my left eyebrow and the left eyelid. The pain was like no other. I was hospitalized for over a month, and by some stroke of luck didn't lose my left eye. Just a detached retina due to the menegitis. I had to stop taking the neurotin due to Stevens-Johnson syndrome. My face is scarred, lost a portion of my eyebrow, and my eyelid constantly causes pain. Yoga breathing helps.

I just got shingles yesterday around my eye! It is soo painful...every time I blink my eyes start to run. I know your pain girl. I am glad that you are feeling better hopefully that will be me soon.

i got it a few days ago, they aren't all that painful for me but man they are annoying as hell. just doing an every day thing makes them itchy and has a wierd sensation like someone decided to poke me with something pointed like a needle. so for most of my days i have been lying down doing nothing

I recognized the first out break on my husband and sent him to the Clinic right away.Doctor said it was wonderful that he came in within a week of the first sign and gave him a Post Perpetic Drug to take that would minimize the pain if it returned.The outbreak went no further.

i got thum on my back, noticed about a weak ago didnt know hwat they were till my doc jus told me .. i dont have them very bad i dont think cause they dont seem to be intense pain just alot of itch, i just forget about them for the most part

No cure for shingles, only treatment.
Virus have to ride it'self out.
I have shingles right now, I'm in the 5th day!
I use Aloa Vera plant leafs.
Cut it in half, wide side and rub it on the infected area.
Repeat few times a day.
Works great. Takes the pain away.
Also take some painkillers, Advil, Aspirin etc....
Do not over doze.

i've had shingels when i was on holiday!!!! a few months ago sooooooo painful i just had to rough it out for a few weeks though i am only 12 as well i thought old people where supposed to get it ????

im only 10 and i had shingles for 14 or 13 days and it almost cut my finger off becuz i was cutting something with a nice and the sharp pain made my thro the knife i got a cut but im okay now

i have shigles ryt now and im taking 1 tablet of gabaprentin (neurontin) 300mg, 2 tablets of valaciclovir (valtrex) 500mg every 8hours, paracetamol every 4hours and applying acyclovir (Zovirax) 50mg/g cream as topical it happens that it only appears in the half of my face now im worried if its going to leave a scar. what should i do?

As long as you dont touch or pick the scabs you should be fine. When the shingles finished i only had a scar from where I picked a scab once. So just dont touch it and you should be fine

I only thought that people in their 60s upward got singles. Sorry your going through this. A woman I know has it and she is 70 somthing. I guess anyone can get it.

the rest of my comment. The Doc says when I first start getting symptoms next time like tinkling, itching or redness in the usual Zoster zone where I seem to be getting it now to start right away with ACICLOVVIR DOROM 800MG five times a day.

I kept getting shingles and it's really depressing. It started first in 1982 on lower back. Now it's 2009 and I've gotten it more and more recently and people just don't care or understand, especially at work, how debilatating it can be. I wqent to the doctor and she gave me a bunch of vitamin prescriptions, especially Vitamin B, and a small tube of ACICLOVIR DOC 5% cream to put on it which helps but now I've used it all up.

wow on your face@!!! i have it on my hip and back. and sorry i have no tips for you. how long have you had shingles? and do you still have them? and sorry but there is no cure for it. i have had shingles for 2 years now and still have them. so sorry if i knew how to get rid of this stupid disease. i feel your pain girl!! and just dont give up that is my adivice. i still get chills from it every day. feel better! and im 17 too sighs

You can get shingles more than once since the virus is herpes. It can hide in your spine.

ORGANIC apple cider vinegar. make sure it's ORGANIC. braggs is good. use brown paper bag cut strips, soak use cling wrap keep in moisture. twice a day short durations do not leave over night. should help relief pain, help dry out blisters.

Actually there's no cure for shingles. Cold ice or something will help stop the pain, but you will have to let it run it's course. 90% of people will only have it once, and then after a week it's gone never to come back.

I can't believe it but I think I have the chicken pox for the first time in my life at the age of 32! It started off with my whole body aching, feeling weak, and bad headaches the first couple of days. Then I noticed pimples or blisters on my scalp! Now today my whole body is covered in these blisters, my body still aches and my temperature is 100.9 degrees!
Was gonna go to the doctor but i have no insurance. Plus researching and finding out that it eventually will go away i guess.

oh no no no!!!!! Thats really bad to get the chickenpox at that age!!!! Maybe you should go to the doctors! It's alot more dangerous to get them when youre older!

We'll took yours and many of my friends' advice and finally went to the doctor! Sure enough it's definitely the chicken pox! Pretty much the doctor just told me to get a lot of rest, drink plenty of fluids and prescribed me some antibiotic pills (to reduce the severity of the symptoms) to take for the next few days. The fever finally drop down to normal on Sunday after 4 1/2 days (feel much better)! Now all I gotta do is wait for all these nasty blisters to dry up and fall off! Thanks, Kudos!

You get it from a low immune system, it can be caused by stress or just happen because youre old. It doesnt really have a cure, but it has preventing shots, and antibiotics that help get rid of it.

okay, this is no joke. Im not religious or any of that crap, im a christian and God does exisit, its a fact, whether you believe it or not. I have a Friend who had shingles for arounf 4yrs, and he had medicine, but we all know that its very ineffective, and it was barely touching it for him, anyway, how he ended up having them Go away for GOOD! was by the amazing power of God!! Amen, GOD really healed him. if you dont believe me message me, and i can like get you to talk to him. :)

I just came down w/shingles 3 days ago. I have them down the back of my neck, into my left side face, neck, earlobe and upper chest. From what I've read and heard, the best you can do is relax and rest!! The shingles may make you feel anxious but try and let go of that. It isn't helpful. Think positive, eat well, take Vit.B- sublingual for the stress. A body is going to heal best when at rest. I give my blessings to everyone suffering from this.

Nicole was telling me about this on Monday and Tuesday at lunch!! she goes "ino might have to be hospitalized b/c of shingles!!" and then on Tuesday "she didnt have to be hospitalized so thats goooood" just thought i'd tell you that..lol
