  • I don´t know if it´s my impression, but I always thought that 3D effect in 3DO was in the same level than PS1 (So much better than Jaguar, however). Maybe, if 3DO had more blockbusters and softhouses building games, it could fight PS1, at least until N64 release...

  • Woah!! those were HUGE JUGS!!

  • Just ordered me a 3do!!!! I had one in 1993, now I shall have another in 2011.

  • Great videos, thanks for taking the time to make them.

What's the name of the song that starts at 1:08?

  • I've looked at all of these and no mention of my two favorites; Hell( with Dennis Hopper as The Devil, and, Quarantine - post-apocalyptic, taxi driver, shooter game. I played that one so long, it burned images into my cornea.

  • Can you play Japanese 3DO games on a U.S. 3DO-in other words, is it region-locked??

  • Iron Angel better than Doom?!

  • @RetroStacja: On the 3DO yes. 3DO port of Doom is really aweful. Doom is actually ace, just not on 3DO.

  • Oh Christ! The burning soldier.... one of the best games i ever played

  • I love how I saw Pyramid Intruder and screamed "MICROCOSM!" And then the next game actually was Microcosm. XD

  • I LOVE "KILLING TIME"!!! and burning soldier had a rockin soundtrack. looks like I still need to play Immercenary and Virtual Cameraman 1 though.

  • Immercenary is actually quite good (all things considered) Virtual Cameraman is good by virtue of the fact naked girls turn up. But that's it.

  • Is that tower(#34) game the same as simtower cuz it looks like it

  • I *think* it is.

  • I had three 3DO systems, I bought one for my Bday in 1995 for $300 because it came with 3 free games and the PS1 was sold out for the next four months, and I quickly became addicted to "Need for Speed," "Road Rash" and Killing Time. There were a few others, but although with better resolution than the PS1, the gameplay was a little slower--AND you had to find a special sampler disk just to manage your memory and delete old saves. Ah, yes, the 90's!

  • 2:07 40. Strahl

    2:52 39. Pyramid Intruder

    3:31 38. Microcosm

4:13 37. Tetsujin Returns (Iron Angel of the Apocalypse)

    4:52 36. Killing Time

    5:30 35. Immercenary

    7:00 34. The Tower

    8:00 33. Corpse Killer

    8:14 32. Burning Soldier

    8:51 31. Virtual Cameraman 1

  • Nice. How did you get in touch with Trip Hawkins?

  • I own 17 different consoles ,including the atari2600(7800 on its way) and the Jaguar (do the math!) plus the 3do ,but I cant play my 3do at the moment as I have no controller, and have been waiting over about 6 weeks for one to be delivered to me (UK) from Canada .

  • Long live 3DO! Mine still works perfectly after all these years :)

  • omg i played killing time :P

  • i only got to play the 3do once and thats because my sister worked at gamestop several years ago and she found one and i went to her house and played it, i had no idea it was so old

  • i didn't even know it HAD 50 games!

  • Virtual Cameraman looks like good fapping material.

  • Ahhh. You see. Apparently, and I don't really enjoy these old FPS games, Wolfenstein was better on the 3DO, while Doom was better on the Jaguar. AvP on the Jaguar was better than all of them mind you :)

    Thanks for stopping by!

  • The only thing that the Atari did better than the 3DO was its FPS games, although even then, the ports of Doom and Wolfenstein were quite sloppy on Jaguar.

  • im gonna buy this now.

  • <3 to you for supporting this old gem of a system

  • Though you have Killing Time way too low on the list. Putting Corpse Killer above it... well... no lol.

  • I don't like FPS games see :)

  • It just finally hit me why I am little off.

It's because of playing almost every console,

including this one and these games broke my brain. Now I don't need therapy. Thanks 3dokid.

  • These videos are great!!! Oh and it's only obvious the 3DO is more powerful than the Atari Jaguar where the idea of a texture is but a dream just like it actually being a 64-bit console. What a joke.

  • Conclusion:

Atari Jaguar and 3DO SUCK !!!

  • My my. What a wonderful thought provoking post that was. Thank you. These words are more valuable to me than gold and will resonate with me always.

    You cock.

  • I wish I had a 3D0, be interesting to have. That and a Sega Saturn are at the top of my "to find list".

  • i actually have 2 3DOs and i still play them becuz lets face it, the oldies are always the best

love immercenary, killing time, Gex OH and one of my all time favourites, the incredible machine... oh the joys of watching that little boy fall millions of feet to his death by crocodile... ahhhhh ^^

  • Immercenary is AWESOME.

  • indeed it was ;)

  • the ps1 owned both those consoles soooooooooo hard!!!!

  • Most definitely...even though the Playstation was the weakest console it had the best games...

  • I like your videos, 3dokid. Before, I used to think that 3DO did not have many good games. But I learn about new ones through your videos

  • There's a reason why the 3DO and the Jaguar died quickly...it's because they weren't real consoles, they were just pieces of crap hardware that had mostly FMV games or just total crap games save for a very few games on the 3DO...

  • The 3DO and PSX have very similar power. So shut the fuck up.

  • Uhhh...no they don't and why don't you make a more intelligent argument instead of just saying shut the fuck up? why don't you suck my cock then? and yeah, the 3DO could've been better if it wasn't for the crap games "save for a few"...

  • You fail at life..

Go look up the specs asswipe. There is a site that does a full hardware comparison with several other consoles. Also I had no idea the Jaguar being a cartridge based system was able to do FMV. The 3DO had a ton of great games and also a ton of shit ones. But so did the PSX. A PS1 console can be had for $5 these days. Go price a 3DO.

  • PS1 Specs: MIPS R300A Compatible 32bit RISC CPU @ 33.8688Mhz, 1KB Data Cache, 360,000 Flat-shaded polygons per second & 180,00 texture mapped and light sourced polygons per second. 2MB RAM, 1MB Video RAM and 512kb Sound RAM with 32k Sound Buffer....

    ---

3DO Specs: 32-bit 12.5Mhz RISC CPU (about like 25Mhz 68030 CPU), 2MB RAM, 1MB Video -- basically not much difference in Specs (Source: Wikipedia)

  • I used to be an "Ataryan", but not for too long. If I had to choose again, I'd go with the 3D0 instead. Traded my Jaguar and games for a PlayStation as soon as it came out. Boy, that sure was a relief.

  • I love Killing Time! I'd be in my top 10 for sure

  • interesting.

  • You put Immercenary above Killing Time? What's wrong with you???

  • I honestly thought Immercenary was better. Killing Time was good (if you like that sort of thing :) )

  • indeed it didn't :)

  • The atari jaguar didn't even have 50 games, much less 50 games of any kind of quality.

  • actually about 100 cartridge games were released for the Jaguar.

  • I looked at a Jaguar FAQ and they list 52 cartridge games +/- and under 20 cd games.

  • ...they're here! [FEAR!]

    ;)
