  • @sweatanime wo jiao and then your name. for example my name is april, so it's, wo jiao april. :)

  • You can also say: "Gui Xing" = "What is your name?" "Gui(Fourth Tone) Xing(Fourth Tone)

    Pronunciation: Gui = "gway" Xing = "sheeng" The fourth tone is the falling tone so, you'll have to say it kind of fast!

  • Hi Benny, you have for 'Whats your name'- "Nǐ jiào shén me míng zì?". I saw somewhere else "Zen me cheng hu nin?" Whats the difference?

  • Both expressions have the same meaning just depending on you choice. The latter one is more formal. zen me cheng hu nin means how would you like to be addressed.

    i watched all ur videos. im american so i speak native english and japanese. i taught myself japanese before i came to japan. it was so hard. now i have decided to study chinese. and chinese is easier than both japanese and english.

  • I'm a little confused with this one. :( If Ming Zi means Name, why isn't Ming Zi added in "My Name is Benny"? Xie xie ni for any help.

  • Thats because we can say it in two ways : 1. My Name is... "Wo de ming zi shi..." or 2. "I'm called..."Wo Jiao..."

  • Xie xie, it does! Wo shi yingyu (I'm English?). Wo jiao Yue Dan (I don't know if it is right, but on an online Chinese-English dictionary Yue Dan translates as Jordan). Xia ci jian.

  • would you be able to explain what/how to use lai2 in rang4 wo3 lai2 jie4 shao4. i was always taught to say wo3 gei3 ni3 jie4 shoa4 yi2 xia4.

  • This basically means the same thing, but just another way of saying it! It's up to you which you want to use! If anything, the first example is slightly more formal! Xie Xie BaiMeiHu!
