I had the privilege of seeing nmn at least 10 times in the nineties and every time it was magic . They blew away every band I have ever seen !! When they played there was no hate only a united crowd digging the vibe .just like its supposed to be . Next time the pop through Calgary I'm going for sure!!
@electrohippy68 what interview with Grohl was that? Although you might not like Grohl's music, he definitely name drops great bands, i.e. Naked Raygun out of Chicago is one of his inspirations. NoMeansNo have rocked for a long time.
this is almost my era.. and I had no clue about these guys until today.. dave grohl interview (who i don't really like's music but think he's a creative guy) had an interview where he stated these guys were the best band ever.. I attest.. this is pretty good shit.
I love how they combine elements of Primus, Led Zeppelin, Green Day, the Pogues, and Dead Kennedys. These guys are revolutionary and more people should listen to them.
@theinfectiondrummer Their first album was released in 1990, so only a post-1990 can be influenced by them. I also read that Primus have been influenced by NoMeansNo, but they don't say that in order to seem more original..
@heffay111 Yeah, I saw them the other week. I wasn't really impressed with the videos on here of them playing recently, but then when I saw them. Fuck, it had the same energy as this video.
@537map for me it is! They where simply awesome! So energetic in concert back in the '90. I got all of they’re albums (vinyl no CDs) and anyone who like these songs should definitively try to get they’re hands on all there albums.
Greatest Canadian Progressive Punk Rock Band! Ever!
Holy shit, I had no idea there was actually video from Live & Cuddly. Thank you! As every one else has said - one of the tightest Live bands on the planet. Was honored to open for them soooo many years ago.
Saw them last night in Rotterdam. The first time during the Wrong tour. That's a lotta years in between and I gotta say: THEY STILL ROCK AS FUCK!!!!!!!!!!! Thnx for the vid.
Rags and Bones is the best song of all time. I don't say that lightly. Sun City Girls, the Melvins...they both have some killer songs. But Rags and Bones is the best of the best.
lost count how many times i've played live & cuddly at deafening volume...to find out that video exists for these performances is blowing my mind...how about a deluxe reissue with dvd? drool...
Victoria had a surprizingly good art scene...NoMeansNo was the f&*7cking greatest punk band of all time and often still is (lucky enuff to live up near Lund).
They make it look all so easy. There must be thousands of recordings like these from Vera, Groningen....WHERE are they all! Can someone with sense dig them out and post them! Nomeansno, Victims family, Codeine, Nirvana, Giant Sand, Fugazi to name but a few...
this tape was stuck in the casset player in my old car......all it played was this album, over and over and over. It was awesome, i cant think of a better unhappy happy accident.
Nomeansno! The very best thing I ever saw live I reckon. Let's hope they come over to Blighty soon! What a fucking great vid. I listened to Live & Cuddly over and over again when I first got it. Best live album ever.
can someone please tell me this is on video and how to trade for it i dont have much i just lost most of my collection but have all mdc subhumans crass even woody and hank im in ontario canaduh
I went to see them in 91 after buying live n cuddly, saw them at Nottingham Poly with Pitchshifter which was a strange pairing, H from Acid Reign was there and during Rags n Bones had one of those linked arm barn dance moments with him, very silly but loadsa fun, probably the most fun i've had at a gig and i've been to quite a few :)
Not taking anything away from Tom, they've continued to write great material but personally i prefere the Andy Kerr line up.
They lost 50 percent in my estimation when Andy Kerr left. The brotherly rhythm section hasn't been equalled in punk rock before or since but Andy was an essential part of that band IMO>
after Kerr NMN lost the meaning in their lyrics... that was the key that put them over the top... not that everytihing else back then was brilliant too... but we lost the DAD, TWO LIPS, SMALL PARTS, DARK AGES... ECT
You are correct, but if you look into their music you will find them to be classified as a "musician's band"... tough one to leave off though... they write hooks and choruses so complex that their talent makes it sound pleasant while maintaining their musicianship...
you mean those bands don't have guitars in them... or i don't play guitar? i play bass - you can check out the vids i made for my band from 94 - Karma Breach - ... or the bands are without guitars??? hhhhmmmmmm... i'll look 'em up then...
Sorry, my comment didn't scan very well, I really shouldn't post when I'm plastered. I meant those bands don't play guitars, it's all rowdy electronic stuff. Hope you like!
Amazing did you film this?! Where did you get it? Any chance this performance can be had complete on dvd? So great to finally see this in video format after listening to it for years!! NoMeansNo have to be the best punk band ever. I wish they would come back to Winnipeg sometime soon.
Always wanted to know what exactly Andy was going to say/explanation about the solo though!
Thank you for posting this. I was too broke to see this tour and now at least I can see it.
