  • Always wish Joplin could play in front of Joe Cocker's [far better] back-up band. The Holding Company and other line ups never seemed quite up to the task.

  • I'm here because of Steven Tyler. :) Nice

  • Phenomenal. If only she could've stuck it out longer, still so much to learn at 27! Her singing gives me goosebumps every time.

  • Why does it say that Janis Joplin will be playing at House Of Blues, Houston 1/19/2012 -BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER YOUTUBE

  • @cbsabc That would be the biggest comeback gig ever! Hell, if Janis returned she'd have Jesus beat. lol

  • Paul McCartney on drums? lol

  • as i watch her leave the stage to sit down i can't help but notice her uneasiness walking towards dick. granted maybee a little buzzed but a walk and look on her face of fear and unsuredness of herself. a monumental talent with no self esteem. i just want to reach out to her. the 4th grade recital applause from the audience is not a confidence builder either. if she was on jay leno today with that performance she would of brought the house down. its all too sad

  • @jmat412 youre right i never noticed that before then when the other guest compliments her i suppose that changes dick cavette compliments her tioo she knda sighs with relief. it sucks that audiences from tv shows back then didnt give her what she deserves. i never wudve seen it like dat

  • "You go, girll!" .."Rock on, Janis!!", .. .. ..Why does the "top comment" only have sorrow for Janis? ..Can't everybody see the love here?? ..Ms. Joplin has 6 talented musicians backing her on stage, playing hard, with everything they have! ..my God! ..If I ever deserved so much support, I would be so happy, so proud, so satisfied! You so deserved that support, Janis, ..you gave everything you had, just as they did, ..and it sounded soooo good!!!!

  • @Carpfingers janis never got the band that she deserved. these guys here are barely adequate. she struggled to find the best musicians, but no group she ever had could keep up with her. hard to listen to this. they are not in janis' league.

  • @ardalla535 funny thing the band that did suit her the most (Full Tilt Boogie Band) were mostly canadians...just a little fact...:)

  • I mean asking.

  • Are they?

  • And on cowbell, we have Mr. Ron Jeremy. Ladies and gentleman, please.

  • Great video! So clear! Janis, Janis, Janis!!!!!

  • Janis's voice makes my soul soar and weep at the same time... chills, every time

  • I love this woman.

  • 0:02 nice ass

  • Hubba bubba

  • forget about the drugs, the intensity, the passion, thats what made Janis great

  • 0:44 the bass player. is awesome.

  • <3

  • God, I get a semi every time I hear her wail!

  • HER RAW SOUL and INTENSITY .. made JANIS BEAUTIFUL!

  • Beauty's more than skin deep you swine, just try a little harder to see it!!

  • Damn that girl was ugly as sin, but had the voice of an angel. So yeah I'd live with her haha

  • @zeppelin67637 lmao!! she was ugly but fucking good tho!!

  • @MultiJans Pft..hope you live long enough to get wrinkles, lose your teeth, and have saggy bewbs...so you can find out that ugly is not skin..it's a lack of appreciation for true beauty..so you keep the Kardashians, the Paris', the Madonnas, and the whole lot of fake people...I'll hang with Janis...superficial morons

  • @zeppelin67637 what a thing to say!!,she probably even in a drunken heroin soaked evening would not have graced your outer arsehole...

  • @MSFOXYBOYNO1 awe come on, why piss on my dreams!!?!?

  • @MSFOXYBOYNO1 hahahahaha!!! Oh My GAWD!! xxx you ,,,are,,,,funny,,,as,,,fuck!!!

  • janis for life!!!

  • she is'nt just tearin it up ... she destroyin it... thats true love for music... no doubt about it... love ya ... miss ya and god must love you girl...r.i.p.

  • very few can sing live and sound good

  • :-)

  • @marcelia3 ;-)

  • What said the man in the finish?

  • wish I could of been in her time..rip :(

  • I heard this name of course, but I do not want to analyse his "creativity" cos this is rubbish

  • @sinbartar NO this is Janis fucking Joplin! Show some respect or go watch Jersey Shore or some other RUBBISH. ffs people are becoming more and more useless and stupid every day.

  • @NoRosesForMe Agree

  • @NoRosesForMe But who is Jersey Shore?

  • @NoRosesForMe sorry, mate . My comment was about Justin Bieber. I respect J.Joplin, J. Morrison, M.Bolan and other representatives of Old School. I love this music

  • @NoRosesForMe amen brother are sister whatever you are... leave this 1 alone... this is classic... don't EVEN !!! if ya like REAL music and ain't a freakin numb nut clone then get back to that skank lady gagbag are justin bieber... are is that beaver? l.o.l.

  • I was so in love with that woman. God rest her soul.

  • they call me sad for listening to janis and 60's 70's. i say u aint got soul

  • @jdotsta I'd slap whoever called you sad.......you keep listening.

  • i just want the SG with the Bigsby

  • She burned bright for a small time but would have been a real challenge

to separate herself from her image and clean up and go back to that music.

not saying she wasn't capable. but it would have been very difficult. if she gave up her career but not singing those songs and being sober. drinking became something she'd do onstage and pearl was a name for her alto ego party gal

  • Janis has endured her share of pain but she got more love than she could imagine in the end. don't feel sorry for janis. she might have had the blues but loved her career and one could say she was too into drugs to find that love she craved. Her drinking was getting so heavy she woke up and drank to pass to wake

and drink and perform. That wouldn't have lasted long.

  • Perfeita !

  • AXel Rose?

  • @MrGlenntipton Nowhere near...

  • i feel so sorry for janis, all she wanted to be loved. but all she got was stood up by 1 man after another and called the most ugly guy at the college she went to in texass. so she was not a beautyqueen, but she did not deserved the bullshit people gave her.very sad she was so rejected in life..when people are not loved they die a little at a time day after day and self destruct, just lik she did. then people ask why,are we that stupid ?

  • @tryby12

You're a pure soul... in my view... you don't judge!!!

And yes, we need to be loved and love... the absence of love, the rejection... all kill us bit by bit!

  • @tryby12 You are so wrong, Janis is absolutely beautiful!

  • @devilndeepbluesea she was very sexy i take her before any dimwit supamodel.down to earth too and nice girl next door type.

    .

  • @tryby12 ? I'm gal-traditionally pretty-- thought Janis was very stunning..she had such soul.. put so much into her music that guess it carried thro..I grad HS 1969 so we prob approx same age..that whole "pretty" thing was big to me--all my girlfriends LOVED Paul McCartney--uhuh..nah get me guy w heart & soul kinda drifted btwn George & John..loved Dylan..married 1st time= pretty SOB--2nd Native American heritage--cool dude fight like cats & dogs x 30 yrs

  • 2:13 ¡WOW! Que voz!...Eso es cantar...No los patéticos ídolos actuales...Janis nos haces falta...

  • I just love her.

  • what an amazing, soulful voice. Janice we all miss you xxx

  • Janis was the white Aretha Franklin.

  • She sings with sensuality and a feline voice, Janis is an amazing singer!

  • 24 deaf tone idiots

  • @MrFangole 28 deaf tone idiots

  • 00:6 TO 00:11 SHE LOOKS SO SEXY !

  • love you tomi hayes

  • love her gypsy outfit

  • i love you tomi hayes

  • i love tomi hayes

  • Love the below comment. Many girls from that era felt that way, Janis' following was very strong and loyal! My best friend and I would discuss who liked Janis more etc. funny lol. Agreed, her death was a HUGE TRAGEDY! We miss this lady!

  • I am arguably the biggest Janis fan...I wish she would've tried a little harder to stay alive

  • I wasnt born that time, but somehow I do mis it -.-

  • @Smokeey83 you and I both.

  • I think the horns need to try a little bit harder...to learn their parts.

  • Wasn't she getting it on with Kriss Kristopherson about this time?

  • Janis was raw, sexy, powerful on stage. She could belt out songs like nobodys business. I was a teen back when she died, and I miss her still today. Her music, like most from that era of Rock nRoll is timeless. Love ya babe.

  • Words can't describe how good she was.

  • Look at the expressions of the back up, the brass, percussion, and strings. They are terrified of the reality (the dream of every musician) of tripping, I mean stepping, over the threshold into immortality. Janis takes them all with her without a moment of thought, other than to express her thought, "Of course, why should it be otherwise."

  • great stuff!

  • good to listen to her after so long gone

  • DIOSA.............

  • @vhobass

  • GOD, she deserved a better backing band.

  • @wingseclipsed That's what the critics thought too!

  • THE BEST!

  • Like to see Lady Gaga try to top this. No way.

  • she has a wonderful voice <3

  • The sax player on the right side of the horns line up that is singing with Janice. I swear that is the guy that was playing with Steely Dan just a few years ago. Can't think of his name for anything though.

  • @JasonTheGuitarHero LOL he was into janis i guess...

  • I remember this!! I was 12 lol!!

  • That a baaaaad mother fucker.

  • /watch?v=ZK-oKU4nF4s <-- check this girl!! Maybe the new jans?

  • We need Janis now days ......

  • She lives on!

    2011 planet Earth.

  • @smilelikeUmeanit90 I wish

  • AMAZING ENERGY and INTENSITY!

  • No egg no meat dress .. just a voice

  • Dick Cavett was such a tool.

  • That bass player is inches away from head banging

  • I loveeee Janis Joplin. What a beautiful woman. Her voice truely is amazing. <3

  • a member of the 27 club

  • I was born in 1987 but sometimes wish I was born in 1943, I feel like I missed out on an amazing era. Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Joni Mitchell, Richie Havens, The Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revivals, Jimi Hendrix; all have amazing and genuine talent and sold records with heartfelt music not their sexuality. Wish most artists today could say the same.

  • Why do ya'll keep comparing her to Lady Gaga..they are NOTHING alike.

  • damn I was born 30 years too late :) Woud have loved to be born right after the WW2...then I'd be a teen in the 50-60 and boogy to Elvis....I'd be a sexy mamma in the 70 and boogy to Janice and the Doors....and by today i'd be just old enoug to not give a F**K about the music scene today.... :D

  • her voice is weird.....

  • @xLolitaNabokov .....go listen to christina aguilera

  • @smilelikeUmeanit90 No thanks xD, just saying.. is a weird voice, i never said it was bad.. come on..

  • thanks Mr Cavett, you are one cool dude.. nice video too.. HOT!

  • otra cancion que dice como me siento, solo debo tratar un poco mas duro to make you mine all mine!!!!! mi favorita

  • wow that's Snookie playing the sax! Haven't seen him since North Beach Janis party.

  • Never will get better than Janis...in a Genre all her own...♪ Love u J....Indiana

  • My RE teacher reminds me of Janis, though she's so barmy she doesn't need to trip. She's one of the few truly lovely people I've ever had the good fortune to meet and from what I hear from old fans ms Joplin was just the same. :)

  • PURE GIFT

  • Queen of soul, just pure raw talent.

  • What an ugly tie that is that the host has. What a voice Janis has.

  • 21 people pushed the wrong button :D forgive them!

  • I listened to the lady from the beginning, had friends who thought I was nuts. Eventually they really listened after her death and realized what they had been missing

  • <3 Janis, I would do anything to bring her back.

  • Ok i´ll try!

  • Hope she comes back litle sick of this dolls some ppl call women

  • if she were on american idol she wouldn't get passed auditions.

  • Brutalmente brutal, era grande, quizás demasiada grande , una lastima su muerte, pudo dejarnos grandes cosas, pero no suficientes.

    Estés donde estés........ Un saludo.

  • I was born in 1990 and my motto is "Listen to the old school and know your roots before you start listening to the new stuff." My dad turned me on to the old before I was born and this girl grew up to loving proper music and not the crud thats out today!!!! <3 Janis...RIP

  • my comment is useless

  • Demaisss

  • Hell yeah!

  • que tal descarga de energia, Janis Joplin es la mejor rockera y cantante de blues de toda la historia

  • Oh God real music... thanks Janis!!!

  • 20 people don't wanna try ;)

    I love Janis! <3 <3 <3

  • janis is king

  • Janis was so cute here

  • Gotta love the cow-bell guy!

  • Janis Joplin & Jim Morrison ! I am born in the wrong Age !

  • @sophstylezZ people stopped capitalizing "age" in the mid-19th century.

  • @Alphabex8 I'm german.

  • Comment removed

  • @sophstylezZ I was 3 Years old when she died, I can remember everything!

  • @sophstylezZ Exactly what i was thinking! :)

  • @sophstylezZ

That's true, more that a voice Janis is a Legend

  • @sophstylezZ I gurantee you there's as much talent out there now as in 1970. the problem is corporations have set up the music business to only promote people who look like models and soap opera stars. janis is way too not-cute to make it today. jim morrison was pretty enuff but the doors were just another band in 1969 cause there was so much more RAW TALENT at the top of the music business. in those days they didn't care if you looked like a troll if you could deliver the music.i was there

  • @zyxquark yes, and you didn't mention corpo music business promoting child-like looking teenage so-called "stars" like justin biber and others to pleased pedophiles.

  • @zyxquark I agree, and thats what made music so much more alive then , I would give anything to have been in that era and saw a great time in music. I thought she was beautiful, because she was comfortable being herself and didn't feel she had to look a certain way. Thats a beautiful thing.

  • Having lived through that era I always tell people to enjoy now. It's hard to imagine that TV had 3 channels. No video, no vhs, no cable, no youtube. If you missed Janis(which was easy to do) that was IT. there were no do-overs, no rebroadcast (maybe a summer rerun). my point? you can see more in one night on youtube than in all the sixties combined. I saw her on tv exactly ONCE back then and that was a sound bite. So enjoy now. I was in the 60's and it's over-rated.

  • @zyxquark lol I hear ya, I didn't think of it in that way, and you are right today we have accessto so much more and I am grateful for that. I just liked Joplin and her freedom to just ne herself. It's rare to see that today.

  • @LADYB725 Yeah, she had ten tons of natural talent and even more heart. I can't think of anybody like that today.

  • what is that silver bar on the bass? is it like an oversized humbucker or does it go over the strings to keep the bassists fingers closer to the bridge to give it that twangy sound?

  • @GDuBMuSiCk I have seen those before. I think that it is covering the pickup to reduce noise or to concentrate the sound more into the pickup rather than disopating. But, I play guitar and drums, not bass, so maybe a bass expert is needed lol. What a voice!!!

  • I wish I could sing like her. She's brilliant.

  • Janis : Brilliant - One of a kind - on another level completely from anyone .....xo

  • I wanna be the next Joplinesque artist one day. Just like Janis.

  • Very cool. Is that John Cipolina on guitar?

  • @exileken I thought it was the guitarist from Big Brother - Sam (I forget his last name). Didn't John Cipolina play with

    Quicksilver Messenger Service?

  • such a poignant descriptive song. How fortunate I Am to have lived during the times of such great Spirited Souls as Janis..! "At times ruff n tuff got you by, But deep w/in Dolphins made you cry. That which you have kept & stored, Can now be given to Your Lord. For in death you are not defeated, At The Right Hand of God, Janis...go & be seated!" This is an excerpt from my poem Tribute to Ol' Sweetness(Walter Payton) Felt the need to pass this onto Janis. Kindred Soul Sistah Talara D. Masters

  • My girl!!!

  • I love that little groovy dance she does at the beginning

  • well I love this kind of music, great janis joplin

  • Sadly, while we do have some great ensemble groups today, there is a dearth of great individual performers like we had back then/.

  • Very sad that Janis, like the other great legends of the rock, Lennon, Hendrix, John Bonham, Cass Elliot, Keith Moon, etc. died very young, but fortunately we will remember her as a shining star, we will not see her decadent, never, like we see now Madonna, Spears, Lady Gaga, Cher,....

  • ;) the best
