I would love to go to Moab someday. I see alot of Jeeps and smaller trail rigs on videos and what not but I have a 05 Super duty. Is it worth going to Moab with my truck for some trail driving and light wheeling? It's gotta 8 inch lift with 38s and a rear ARB. ? Any input? I drive it on the street and out around the ranch mainly but Moab trails look amazing and I'm not sure if the superduty is too big and heavy to have any fun.
@ORYGUN11x Moab is an amazing place. With an 8 inch lift and an ARB, you can handle most of the trails. This trail that I'm driving here is rated a 3+ which scares away most stock trucks. The locking differential makes it so easy to run.
@tj548p NIce. I'm for sure making a trip down there this summer sometime. My SSRs are about gone so I'll be getting some new m16s next I think, should work good for the slick rock? Great vid btw
I would like to own a truck like this but I don't do anything for a living to justify purchasing one... I ain't retired yet so I don't know if buying a trailer this soon in my life is a wise from a financial stand point. Although I do teach, I get two months off a year to have fun. Oh yeah, My wife is a professional making way more than me is all I will say.
@rayamanelly It's an amazing truck but I would never advocate going into debt just to have one. We live debt free so we don't have to worry about payments. Check out Dave Ramsey's debt free method. We do love to get away with our trailer and toys. It's been fun to do that when the kids have little and then we can continue as they start having children of their own.
@tj548p lol, A fully load F350 won't break us... Not with a Cardiologist salary (Non invasive) .I was only saying that a truck of this caliber is would do nothing but get me around town as I am not in the construction trade.
@rayamanelly Well then... If the capability of the truck is not part of the ROI factor, then the sheer awsomeness factor makes it worth every penny! ;)
I suspect you remember the diesel magazine article, testing the three 3500 duallys going downhill from Eisenhower tunnel on I-70??? Praised the Chevy, said the Ford was white knuckle. What they never said was the Ford descent control worked best under 50 MPH, while they tried it starting at 55 I believe. Good demonstration here. I thought for sure your kids were all cued to say "Are we there yet?"
@TheMadNorsky It was a fun trip, despite the look on Michael's face, he enjoyed it. Hill Descent Control is different from the Exhaust Brake. EB uses exhaust back pressure to slow the vehcile. The Chev and Dodge exhaust brakes are more effective and activated by a switch on the dash. The Ford is fully integrated and activated by pressing the brake. It works fine and most folks don't realize it's doing it's thing. I count on it coming down mountain passes with the trailer pushing me
@123Jamess im not sure, with 400 horse power and 800 ibs of torque I think you can get away with them. Plus they look sweet!! ..either way great looking truck! Got to try out the hill decent someday!
@ISNTITENOUGH Good idea. The outside shot was from a simple little pocket camera. You still wouldn't be able to hear much though. These new trucks are soooooo quiet.
@northsiderollers Thanks. The "things" are fun but not the most important. Family is really all that matters but we've had it good and we're grateful. It isn't easy and it takes a lifetime of work and balance but if you make the most of every day, you're bound to be successful and find happiness. I've had a number of regular jobs and have just tried to live wisely. Google Dave Ramsey for good financial advice. Google Mormon.org for good meaningful direction in life.
@tj548p Thats so funny.. I knew by looking at you that you were mormon. The best people I know are Mormon. I dated a girl who was mormon once, and it changed my life. No I'm not a Mormon but dating here was a good experience. +1 for Mormons.
@northsiderollers We love the red rocks areas of Utah. Moab, Arches National Park, Zions National Park, Canyonlands. You can ride and explore that beautiful country your whole life and not see it all. Great place to live and raise a family.
@JKRUBSPTSMANXP Ahh, one of the most popular questions. 18ish unloaded on the highway going 70mph (20 if I keep it below 65). 15 to 16ish running around town. 10ish pulling a monster trailer of 18,000 lbs. I'm at 4,500 feet above sea level which means less oxygen. Closer to sea level improves mileage about 10%.

You should get a Stick-On WindCutter for that camera it would be nice to hear your truck as it crawls down the hill.
