From the Eagles Bed,my uncle wrote & sang 2 BYU,he never received royalties. If U Like it,he plans on recording his music. He has a song he wrote 4 his parents,it is heartfelt like the From the E.B.,His name is Tom Lewis Jr. I tell him about all the positive comments on his song,He's suprised after all these yrs.
-ahh;; i freakiinn' love this song. One of my friend, when she had her baby, she sanq this sonq to him it was beautiful. && my mother always sanq this to my older brother. R.I.P Abel Mescal. Will beautiful sonq.!!
this song is great. being in a war zone where danger roams everywhere, this song clears my mind and think of home, what im fighting to protect. i listn to it when im down and feel alone at times.
this song reminds me of running away from boarding school back in the 1960s....like your parents would welcome you with open arms. all they did was give you a glass of water and it was back on the BIA bus back to school and isolation room for a week. i learned all the bad stuff in boarding school. thanks washington
We are looking for the song that was with this one called "The Eagles Bed" If anyone has it, we'd love to hear it again. The beginning a man sings, "The eagle flies high, I'll climb to the sky" then a woman sings about losing her son in the Korean war.
@Markobonv,My uncle wrote & sang it to BYU when he was 16,He just had them credit it to his mother,he never received any royalties. He gave me ,the original lyrics. On the cover it credits A.Tallman,His name is Tom Lewis Jr.,he new Arlene N.He lives in Gallup N.M.He still writes songs, but wont publish them.
Wow, I haven't of this song since I was a lil' snot nose chizzy Navajo boy!!! hahaha LOL Awesome, lookin' back, those were my best days of my life! What a beautiful song! I really miss my family, friends and the Rez!!! Thanks for posting!
Great song! I met Carnes while I was a missionary in Zuni, NM in the late 90's. He played music for a church activity. It was awesome. He did some fantastic stuff for the old Lamanite discussions that the missionaries used to teach. My dad served back then, so I grew up listening to Carnes' songs.
I first heard this song when I was in kindergarten during Thanksgiving. It's been an important song to me my entire life because it's reminded me that if you want to do something with your life, just go and do it. If you give honest effort with pure intent, you can do what you need to in order to be happy.
I remember my mom use to dress me up and we would have to perform to this song. I use to be so embarrassed. This song always remind me of those days. <3
this is a nice tribute to all natives but you could atleast get the names right ..lol Its Arlene Nofchissey Williams and Carnes Burson, I know because Arlene is my mother. Thank you to all those that keep the music alive
whoa she's your mom? thats pretty awesome. there is one song from the same album as this one that i would like to have on youtube that isn't here. :( its my favorite
I think she has a great voice! The old days! sometimes brings back happiness, and memories to the presents to deal with. The song, will not die out!, it will always be there for all to come, native generation to generation! have a good life.
I met Arlene Nofchissey in SLC, UT. She had been a guest speaker for a Graduation recognition ceremony for the Native American High School Graduates who finished through night school. It was a small turn out, but she sang with deep conviction in what she believed in and encouraged all to do well in all things they pursued. She played the guitar while she sang and it is a memory I've cherished over the years.
Arlene is my aunt, my father's sister and this song is beautiful it should touch the hearts of all Native Indigenous peoples. It is sooo difficult to keep your heart grounded in a world that does not understand the Indian heart. I sang this song as a child this whole album is heartfelt ..the Eagle's bed is a beautiful song......be proud to sing this song. It is a symbol of pride and hope.Think of Bosque Redondo maybe that will help you understand the long walk to education and what it signifies
God this reminds me of going to rez pageants and there was always one girl who did sign language to this song as a talent and whenever there was some tribal thing you heard this song at least once, I dont care what tribe you are from you can relate LOL
My brother told me the old version was on YouTube so I had to come listen. Brings back memories. I wish you could put "The Eagles Nest" on here too. I love that song. Thanks.
i love this song-bought the tape about 20 years ago i think,I used to sing it to my son.I also like the "feather from the eagles nest" song from the same tape.
Best times I ever had in school was when we had to sing this song in the classroom during 5th grade, everything after those years went into the gutter...
