@Pvjinflight i know i was talking about the newer models not the old ones like A300 and A310... and actually i like the joystick but its on the left side and i dont think i can fly using my left hand :) i love the fly-by-wire system its safer! you dont need to worry about exceeding the limits
@Mac4ever101: can you drive your car wheel with left hand? how about with your right hand? No difference right? It the same with Airbus and the stick ;)
@kdes yeah you're right... on a boeing you would still hold the yoke with your left hand because you would be holding the throttle lever with your right hand (when landing)... but i just like the feeling of the yoke :) joystick feels...umm...un-realistic... as i said before i do love the fly-by-wire but sometimes you just want your plane to be more responsive (especially on crosswind landings).... because airbus is trying to make you feel the same when flying an A319 or an A380
@Mac4ever101: Actually I totally disagree. Flying an A319 is much different than flying a bigger jetliner like A380. The controls may be similar but the flying is not, believe me :) And the fly-by-wire system is specific designed to get the most responsiveness and accuracy out of the aircraft maneuvers, precisely required in difficult weather landings.
100 above is like the same verbal call out a pilot wil hear in a boeing plane except in a boeing the call out is "approaching minimums".it is letting the pilot know that they are 100 feet above the minimum altitude where they must make a decision to land or go around.also all airbus aircraft have a side stick. . or a yoke :P
Electronic devices are shut off for possible interference in instrument approaches. This was a visual approach so didn't matter if the cellphones messed up the ILS or any other nav equipment.
Its better to be safe and have everyone shut the electronic devices down incase they do have to come down IFR!!
landing stage :at what hieght does the captain pull the nose up? which is bigger take off speed or landing speed?how this SOP could get apermition to set in the cockpit?in each time i ask for that ,they refuse & start questioning me!!!
Usually you don't start out with a prestigous airline like singapore, you get your hours built up with low cost airlines and then you would transfer your airline flight hours to a better quality airline, I want to start to fly for Jetblue and then I would eventually like to fly with Emirates, but hey I'll take what I can get.
I tought you were meant to be a NG pilot.....so you say on another video i have watched.....I dont think a 737NG pilot would find "RETARD" funny holy shit grow up..
Can someone please explain to me what "Minimums" are? I play FS2004 hoping to be a pilot soon, and I always here 500, 400, Minimums, 200, 100, 50, 40, 30, 20, 10. I looked online and the only thing I found was whatever spped you are at when it says Minimums is the minimum speed for that landing. Is this true? Thanks!
There's more than one way to control an aircraft. Just because Airbus prefer the sidestick doesnt mean its any less safe. And btw, Airbus used yokes in their A300s and A310s before making the switch to side sticks.
I havent heard any complaints from the Airbus pilots I've spoken to about side stick vs control column. Yes side sticks are more common in fighters than in commercial aircraft but Airbus still seem to be doing pretty well with their side stick. The only complaint I've heard from pilots is that you need to correct the roll because the aircraft doesnt auto level itself after entering a bank.
yes ur right somw pilots like side sticks i dont have any problem with that but normal yokes are better coz they can use to hands and its in front of them but in side stick its kind of funny and it dosent suit such a big plane so i think normal yokes are better.
yeah lol. u know what i am thinking about i think AIRBUS should make a new plane with side sticks and yokes but i respect ur opinion to thanx fore a nice debate my friend.
my cousin is the airforce and his flown the a340-500 simulator and he found it easier than the yoke i have also flown the 737-800 simulator and the yoke is good but i want to know how the stick is

does the cockpit say retard? What does that mean?
TBRaysTORaptors 2 years ago
the GPWS system is telling the pilot flying to "retard the throttles" in otherwords reduce power for the touch down.

put the engine at idle position.
