Akitas anre very loyal. I have an Akita and he loves other dogs! He loves to play with dog's and my cats! its so funny. But akitas dont trust strangers which is why you have to socialize them properly they will never be luvy duvy with your friends like your average dog but they will put up with them

ever since world war 2 the dogs were eaten due and fur was shaved due to food shortages since the war with america was raging

orders were given to use all your dogs fur and many people mixed them with german shepherds to keep them alive and hide them

after the war less then 20 or 10 pure bred akitas survived

Actually it's half true....they weren't just breed with German Shepherds. They were also cross breed with another dog tht was rlly ugly, which is why the japanese akita is so much cuter than its counterpart the American Akita. You can tell the difference in their faces.

This looks exactly (I mean exactly!) like ours when he was a puppy. His red is more tan now. He is 10 years old and still acts just like the one in the video. Most amazing dogs ever (We have two). Would probably never get any other breed after all these fabulous years with such fabulous dogs!

you know all akitas are decedents of the korean jindo thats why they look so similar. During the many japanese raids on korea they would take jindos back to Japan and well you know the akita is born. Actually, Akitas are loyal, brave dogs, whose goal it is to protect their owner. They are well known as one of the bravest breeds there are, much unlike greyhounds. Yes, I do know about what happens to them, and that it is important to adopt a greyhound if you can, but akitas are also in trouble. Greyhounds may be loyal, but they don't have the same kind of power or stamina that akitas do, so if you're looking for a great guard or (as much as I hate to say it) hunting dog, get an akita.

akitas are the best loyal, smart, and easy to potty train. My neighbor Matt had akita that looked like yours. His name was ichigo, he saved his little brother when a pit bull attacked him. Ichigo almost killed the pit bull when another pit grabed ichigo's neck and killed him :( The humane socity took the pit and the half dead one away and everyone rememberd ichigo as a hero.
