If you haven't figured it out M'bikes can be lethal.
You can provide lots of explanations for how and why, but these things still happen. However that is the risk for all these M'Bike accidents. God didn't design your body to withstand accidents by attaching hp to it. Ride a bike you risk your life.

I agree with having all the correct saftey gear, but impressing people with your riding skills is what these stunts are all about. Impress those woman-folk :D lol
how do you keep the bike from wobbleing??...I'm getting a motorcycle but im a reallly safe driver(car). I have seen many motorists wobble their bikes. I wanted to know how to not do that and if you guys have any additional tips please say so.
@Vaheblast you can use a steering damper but it only helps prevent them, nothing can stop them, should you find yourself in one keep the bike upright, no gas, no brakes just let it settle down on its own or eat the road, whichever comes first

Dude this almost made me cry. Im supposed to be dead since last wednesday 4/14/10 due speed wobble at 100mph on i5 in Seattle. Lucky me the gixxers have stabilizers so I got out of it. Sucks for this guy though. Feel the pain

the only reason that happened was because he stopped his front tire. when he laid it down the front tire went form 0 - 100mph or whatever he was at, and obviously that cant go instanly so its as if he locked up the wheel for a second which brought on the wobble, and it elevated form their. glad he survived

I think he held the front break on as he landed his wheelie as there looked to be some smoke when the wheel hit the road. End of the day stunts are not for the road! And hopefully some of you guys realise that we are bones and flesh (not very strong compared to other materials) and ride safe always. push yourself more your only gonna end up in a body bag or severly handicapped. This guy lived and has his own video account. of his accident and recovery. He had a bad leg fracture. I think the back road rash shown here was from a different accident altogether. Wising up the hard way can be painful!
For what it is worth, I don't really care how it happened or what corrects it, as there are at least 100 ideas and explanations, but the end result is the same- If you can see that and still ride, You are dedicated or crazy. I'm not sure which one I am, but I am teaching my G/F to ride now, and she will see that one. I'd rather scare her off a bike than to see that happen.

Wow how unlucky was it that there was a car parked right there. There wasnt a single car the whole way, and right when he crashes there happens to be one.
Oh and cameraman: if that happens again dont walk up to your buddy and twist his head. You definitely dont want to move his neck.
i don't have anything against stunters as long as they do their stunts where no one else is around... but when they start doing in public places is when i get pissed.. it makes all of us other sports bike riders look bad because people think we are all the same....

the only way to get out of it is keep the throttle steady and wait for the oscillation to go away, if you're lucky enough. and remember to always keep your front wheel straight when you land it especially if you don't have a stabilizer.
ive got to agree with you on this one,it is known as a tank slap ,most people try to fight it and push the front brake (big mistake)and crash.te thing is to use the back brake and and let the bike slow down slowly
yep, it looks like he panicked because of the car parked on the side so he took it down before he was ready to while the wheel wasnt straight then the bike tried to correct itself and he made the mistake of tryin to straighten it out which actually makes it worse
the only time its nearly impossible to save a tank slapper is when your taking a corner but on a straightaway like this its quite possible thats why its obvious he screwed up not the brake dust lol

no sympathy. i saw the original report on this, and the rider was like, "i live on the edge, it's just what i do," and didn't seem at all worried that he might injure others with his stunting on public roads. what if that car he hit was a group of bicyclers on the side of the highway? glad he lived, but i hope the wreck cost him enough that he can't afford to ride any more.
man its a shame too, cuz there was no real traffic hazzard aside from the car. just goes to show that when your on a bike, u deff. need to expect the unexpcted. and it good that hes alive. now he can educate riders and show them street riding is not a game and stunts should be done on a closed course.

All I can say is:- Road = shared environment not suitable to stunts. If you want to do stunts, do it in an appropriate place. Good to see the driver had gear on. Too often we see motorbike accidents that are serious or fatal, all because of the lack of safety gear.

His crash had nothing to do with break dust. He got what is called a tank slapper, when he came down his wheel wasnt straight and the bike tried to correct its self which is what causes the tank slapping motion where your bike and your body fling around. Lmao i have tons of break dust build up, and when i ride a wheelie my wheel stops spinning almost instantly it would not bend his forks, that a completely ludacris. just remember kids! when you wheelie, always keep your wheel straight
this is a good video so others can see what u get when u do that staff.If u have a nice fast bike its hard to not do that and some times u think that could never happen to u till it does and then its too late so drive carefully

This guy is still alive, the original video is still out there. He is deaf, and the cause of the accident was because of the build up of break dust on his front wheel stopped the wheel and when he came back down it bent the front forks in. He had numerous broken bones and other injuries, but is still alive.
You are wrong. He is still alive, but obviously you are clueless about bikes. The wreck was NOT, absolutely NOT caused by brake dust. Watch the video again, when he sets the bike down, the front wheel is turned to the right. Without going into a full detail, that induced a "tank slapper." Two things could have prevented this. . .setting the wheel down straight or a high quality steering stabilizer. Factory Zook stabilizers are not that great. Especially after a couple years of use.

Once in a death wobble, it's hard to get out of it. Hence the term, death wobble.

this is called "tank slapping" (look it up)
the only way to get out of it is keep the throttle steady and wait for the oscillation to go away, if you're lucky enough. and remember to always keep your front wheel straight when you land it especially if you don't have a stabilizer.

ive got to agree with you on this one,it is known as a tank slap ,most people try to fight it and push the front brake (big mistake)and crash.te thing is to use the back brake and and let the bike slow down slowly

yep, it looks like he panicked because of the car parked on the side so he took it down before he was ready to while the wheel wasnt straight then the bike tried to correct itself and he made the mistake of tryin to straighten it out which actually makes it worse
the only time its nearly impossible to save a tank slapper is when your taking a corner but on a straightaway like this its quite possible thats why its obvious he screwed up not the brake dust lol

the wheel may have stopped but that is not why he wrecked.... i dont care what you say... he wrecked because when he went off the side of the bike he had the wheel cocked sideways he most likely had no steering stabilizer and it began to tank slap it happens all the time.... i put my bike down all the time with the wheel stopped no issues his weight was not centered and wheel was turned it will do it everytime...

no sympathy. i saw the original report on this, and the rider was like, "i live on the edge, it's just what i do," and didn't seem at all worried that he might injure others with his stunting on public roads. what if that car he hit was a group of bicyclers on the side of the highway? glad he lived, but i hope the wreck cost him enough that he can't afford to ride any more.

All I can say is:- Road = shared environment not suitable to stunts. If you want to do stunts, do it in an appropriate place. Good to see the driver had gear on. Too often we see motorbike accidents that are serious or fatal, all because of the lack of safety gear.

His crash had nothing to do with break dust. He got what is called a tank slapper, when he came down his wheel wasnt straight and the bike tried to correct its self which is what causes the tank slapping motion where your bike and your body fling around. Lmao i have tons of break dust build up, and when i ride a wheelie my wheel stops spinning almost instantly it would not bend his forks, that a completely ludacris. just remember kids! when you wheelie, always keep your wheel straight

This guy is still alive, the original video is still out there. He is deaf, and the cause of the accident was because of the build up of break dust on his front wheel stopped the wheel and when he came back down it bent the front forks in. He had numerous broken bones and other injuries, but is still alive.

You are wrong. He is still alive, but obviously you are clueless about bikes. The wreck was NOT, absolutely NOT caused by brake dust. Watch the video again, when he sets the bike down, the front wheel is turned to the right. Without going into a full detail, that induced a "tank slapper." Two things could have prevented this. . .setting the wheel down straight or a high quality steering stabilizer. Factory Zook stabilizers are not that great. Especially after a couple years of use.
