Love this song, such an underrated talent. Every time I put this song on, my system just doesn't seem to get loud enough.. anyone know who the drummer is in this vid? Total Bonham worthy drumming in my opinion... awesome tune.
annd it doesnt even have to do with sober or not- entirely. the passion in his music shows thru and thats what makes it so deep and fu**ing awesome!!!
Most underrated musician this century....It's a shame that because of his "marketability" or lack thereof, he's not promoted like he should be.....F'in shame... If you're reading this Travis, met some of the best and you're right in that class. Don't F it up! End of Line
This is my fav song from tavis, its an amazing somg, what a telented guy!! Its a dam shame what meth has done to him the fact hes able to make a great come back and not completly ruin his gift goes to show that no matter what drug someone abuses nothin can xtinguish the human spirit and will!!! Rock on travis!
@shatabrick LIVE will make you jump out of your skin and float around...seriously soooo bad ass. But i saw them twice last year and he didn't play it.
Saw Travis 2x live in NYC...First time w/ his whole band for the Red album tour @ The Mercury Lounge...& I hung w/ him for a couple hours talking about music & drinking... it was right after Layne Staley died & we just went on & on about Layne..I told him I thought the Green album was one of the best albums to come out in the last 15yrs. & the look in his eyes changed & he turned somewhat shy & timid!! He loves life & I will never forget hanging w/ him..I only wish I had brought my damn camera!
My favourite song from them. Great audio here. Hope Travis is doing ok now, cause we need his music around. Would like to invite everyone into this kind of music, with the pure 90's feel to it, to check my band Loose Ground. This is the kind of music we like and though we've just recorded our first EP now, we're kindda old school, cause that's where the real music is to us. Thanks&Peace.
was his intervention the one where the cat started to drink the milk out of the cereal bowl, and He took some kind of think where they put him to sleep so he would have to go through withdrawl?
Great job FOH Engineer. I agree with you Talkingtent. What a dead crowd, maybe they are just fucking stunned...and stoned as to what they are witnessing and hearing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It seems like this song really bombed in NC and SC. I freaking love it. The Planet in SC played it for about a week and havent played it since. I guess the other listeners didnt like it. But again I freaking loved it.
i crack up every time the guys out in the audience fill in the missing "yeahs" and "all rights" -- too frickin' funny.
excellent video, and excellent performance. this is DOTN's best song, and Travis never disappoints. and he *was* sober here, as someone else pointed out. lastly, the man will always be the finest lookin' thing on stage, hair, no hair, or with a flurking horn coming outta' the middle of his head. period.
saw him on "intervention" on AnE... wonder when that was.. hes ultra talented.. glad hes got his shit on track now.. at 16 opening for metallica and jerry catrell... at 16 i was selling hot dogs on a stick... wish i had a cam and mic.. i can jam "freak" in DD like no other.. besides him
This is my favourite DOTN song. Can't understand why is still such an underrated band. I Love this band! A good influence on my tastes and on my own band. If you have a little time, click on my (looseground) channel and check my band out. We're are starting and need opinions and suggestions. Thanks in advance. 90's influenced.
For starters, Travis Meeks is one of the most talented artists ever! He's strong, smart, and a master of his craft. He kicked the drugs, which takes more strength than most people could ever do. And as for his looks, he's beautiful. Losing his hair doesn't affect his music in the least. Thankfully he's not someone like Tommy Lee who needs his looks to carry him. Open your mind people and shut your mouth. He's back and more focused than ever. Give him the credit he deserves! Prepare for Purple!
i will like to see ato sign Days i think it would be a good fit for travis and possibly dave and travis could collaborate or just jam great acoustic players
Travis is good, no doubt about it. Meth almost sucked all his soul out. I hope he continues to record and play live gigs. I still listen to that first cd all the way through, I've worn it out. He plays and sings awsome, no one out there like him at all, he's an original.
no, I listen to those too. Red and Green meld together nicely. Believe me I know, this tune is great. I just happen to have yellow in the car right now lol and I'll play it over and over haha
is taylor the only type he uses? because i think ive seen him using guilds before, and i cant seem to find a guitar with a cutaway like the hot looking one in the background.its beautiful...
This song always reminds me of a girl i really liked. We were on and off for two years, but i always felt like i gave it my all and she refused to get to know me. It was frustrating, but definitely a learning experience. This song is one of my favorites; simply amazing!!!!!!
dude, travis is balding, doesnt look too healthy. whatever it doesnt change the fact that he is awesome, but still, it must suck, i'm balding too and its really frustrating
dont worry, most chicks know that guys can't help balding ... its the personality that counts in the end anyway (and having a cute face doesn't hurt either) :)
The reason this band is not bigger is at the zenith of there growth Travis ran into a personal problem that gets a lot of people. They just disappeared. I remember late one night hearing Tantric and thinking I know that band. Where in the Hell is Travis. He is the talent.
Without a doubt DOTN could have been an "Alice in Chains", "STP", "Pearl Jam" (comercially successful) For whatever reason, be it poor media coverage, insufficient live events, promotion and marketing...They never really made it "big".
I for one think this man, and his bands are incredible. Listen to Orange, Green, Red.. than get your hands on some live and bootlegs.
You will become a fan, and avid listener for life.
why is this band not bigger than they are??? why almost zero radio support? why why why??? not commercialized enough i guess because this is just PURE TALENT here people!
DOTN are the best post grunge band to emerge from the 1990s. I believe Travis Meeks is indeed as lyrically savvy, creative and pognant as Kurt Cobain ever was...similar intense, deep brooding and comtemplative; Meeks deserves more acknowledgement than has received.
Please...Travis Meeks is not God. He's only human. But perhaps a little more human than human! Obvisously talented and great live in concert! If hadn't for the drug addiction and bad advice on his career years ago, he'd been a world phenom selling out shows left and right. But that has past him by. I think he can be successful again, but it'll require significant support from promotion and management in the music industry (from those not stigmatized from early DOTN break-up).
I play the guitar. I used to do meth like it might possibly become extinct the next day. But as high on myself as I get I can tell you I am no Travis Meeks. You just have not sat and listened to him. It is rare we see the kind of talent he possesses.
why he has yet to became bigger than where he is now still baffles me... oh wait no it doesn't, like maynard hes too much for most (and im not even a big tool fan either). This music is so real you can taste it. This band in all of its cds has single handedly changed my views on what real music is. this man is not a singer, hes a musician. the CD red without a doubt is my favorite cd of all time. and this is my favorite band... ever
