She is absolutely singing that note live. That is 100% her voice and none other. The after sound is from the background track which also has Sandi, singing the same note, in harmony with the voices that come in at various parts.

If that note was not also part of the harmony on the track, then it means she simply lifted the mic before she ended the note (this is probably the case), but she clearly throws her head back and sings that note live. She's not stupid. If she wanted to lip synch, she would not lift the mic early.

No no, I've watched her perform for YEARS. That's 100% the real deal, trust me! Her voice is so loud and so powerful, that whenever she hits a high note, she always pulls away from the mic. If she didn't, everyone in that audience would be DEAF!!! *LOL* Watch some of her other ones... she always moves the mic away from her face when she belts out the high notes, but yeah, it's really her. No pre-recorded stuff here.

i am a trained profession singer. I sing Sandi's Material and often. It is entirely possible to remove the microphone and still be heard as if using one. Strong voices like ours really need no mic and it is out of curtousy to remove the mic on those high notes. I've been to Sandi's and Larnelle's concerts. No way was she lip-synching. If you are a professional singer then you should know the best really don't need microphones.

Actually, no. I'm a singer, too, and the way we were taught to sing was to project and enunciate and use the diaphragm so that we merely needed our voices. No amplification was necessary. It could be used, yes, and was necessary for recording, but when just singing, it was preferable not to use amplification. Especially when the singer possessed such a powerful trumpet as Sandi Patti does. Using a microphone for those high notes like that would result in making the audience DEAF!
