@DrShakalu619 because non safety matches, if kept dry, can be lit by striking them on any abrasive surface. Safety matches only strike on the special panel on the matchbox... ;)
Common sense tells me that a survival knife would be better in a survival kit, not a military knife.
Also it seems to me that you don't really have much of a knowledge of survival, and have just regurgitated the information provided in survival guides.
when you said condoms for water i imagined a guy walknig down the road with condoms filled with water around his waist lol...still good sugestions lol
Stick some Provigil in there. Excellent if you want to stay up for 72 hours or so and be functional. Does that get me brownie points after my last comment? :)
Useless stuff lowers moral. This isn't an outing for two days its a breakdown in society. U gonna be resourceful anyway. You need only the minimal. Not a rucksack either - What 4, 2 mountains with tents? A side bag is better. (+ the afghan/indian shawl) Make water carrier from animal gut. Use a water bottle or skin is useful.
(Also, learn to make + take overnight shelters). Then cross the channel and walk to a warm climate!
The worst kind of infections are in cuts. You need only iodine. Its more effective than antibiotics, especially for hand wounds, where with a inner membrane, if you don't clear it up you lose the finger. You also need to modify your behaviour, and keep it clean for a while at the outset. None of the other pharmeceutcals are not necessary; MOD bullshit. Neem leaves for malaria: grows in Asia, also grown in Africa.
I won't be taking any nasty pharmaceutical drugs thankyou very much. I'd suggest people learn about herbs and plants and how to use them instead. A bottle of MMS will suffice for anti-malarial, water disinfecting and many other medicinal uses too. Also medicinal peroxide for disinfecting and health issues.
for anyone who doesn't know, and unfortunately there may be some who don't.. if you don't have access to a medical supply store room, in lieu of a scalpel, buy a good set of "exacto knives" from any good craft store, and sterilize them.
@SurvivalDude93 Agreed plus condoms don't make the best water carrying device for any significant amount before weight hanging outside your pack or friction inside your pack cause the condom to break.
Fine video otherwise
I'd suggest a platypus water bottle or even a ziplock bag would be better than a condom. A condom would be a last resort indeed.
Ive also got my 120ltr PLCE-DPM-IRR Bergen, PLCE Belt webbing with 6 Nylon/cordura pouches, PLCE Chest rig, knife, weapon, Binos, NBC kit, etc on the ready in the event. Spend the cash on higher quality kit! A wind up torch is best! Your eyes will adapt to night anyway. A personel survival/medi kit is best as allergies may occur! A means to make fire is paramount. Eventually we will run out of water, so were all buggered anyway! Store natural rice, pasta etc as it lasts for years.AnygoodUreckon?
Something I've found to be rather useful are books on edible and medicinal plants. There are lots of them out there, but I've found that the ones in the Peterson's Field Guide series are the best for me personally (North America Only I believe) It's a lot easier to find food than to carry lots around with you. If you're looking at a long term survival situation, fats and proteins are going to be the hardest things to find on a regular basis, so consider packing something like nuts or hemp seeds
DXM is a better pain killer than Ibuprofen. If you have any real pain killers left over from one of YOUR OWN prescriptions, put them in your med kit with the label so you can't get busted for having "illegal" narcotics. It is good to have none-drowsy antihistamines but you should also have diphenhydramine tabs because this can also be used to induce sleep and prevent stomach problems. Hydrogen Peroxide and alcohol will be very useful if you get cut
second 2/3 of urine flow is a sterile solution and can be used to clean cuts... the first 1/3 is all the impurities... unpleasant idea but that is simply conditioning of our culture...
same here m8. i have loads of brit army kit ready to be filled with the stuff! water and food and disease will be the biggest killers though. i didnt realise that their were lots of people with similar interests as me! mos people are to busy watching crap from the mass media these days. I really wonder what will happen in 2012? I'll be 31 then!!! old!
No, the reason you carry condoms, as anyone who has seen "Deliverance" knows, is that you never know who you'll meet in the woods.

All the plants will die out in such of an event??

tayraw:
right on about the plants and herbs, man...
peroxide has a limited lifetime, get potassium permanganate instead (disinfectant, water purifier, ignites if mixed with sugar or glicerine etc)

I strongly recomend the use of opioids as analgetica...
ibuprofen, aspirin, paracetamol and so on
are almost useless when you suffer under
real heavy pain and ache, but their use
can be risky and unhealthy, especially in
high dosage.

If every single person in the U.K puts together these survival kits, what can the authorities possibly do?
Jail all of us for 4 years for carrying knives?
(not everyone's going to pay mind to blade length, let's face it lol)
