Fantastic photography!! Thanks for the great video. Would I be right in assuming most of those locos belong to Seymour Steam Pres. Soc.? Did i see S303 in there somewhere? Many thanks and keep up the great work!!
You've had plenty of experience Rocketboy so may I ask if the ''ground relay'' problem has been overcome or does it still cause hickups today? I don't know who else to ask.... Cheers!
@jagerfaust2009 No it is one of those things that can't be overcome. It can be a short circuit anywhere in the high voltage electrical power system but was more often than not the wires breaking off the brushes in the traction motors. Most times the initial arc would melt the wire and the problem was gone. A other times it could be more serious. I was once instructed to bypass the safety device to clear a section and the main generator flashed over. There are also low voltage grounds.......cont.
@jagerfaust2009 continuing.......low voltage grounds are anything in the electrical system finding its way to the locomotive frame. Unlike motor vehicles the frame is not the negative side of the system but is isolated. Putting two or more locos together in multi can have some amazing results if they have the right combination of low voltage feeds to their frames.
@astina8994 >3000 in round numbers. Depends what is in them and how high they are loaded. They are potentially 92 tonnes per when full of the heaviest grain.
Those streamlined cab units look and sound just like they would be at home in the USA. Too bad the 2 ex Western Pacific F7s that were sent to Australia won't run on the Australian railways.
@Trainbrain1949 I must have missed this......I think they did run up in the Pilbara on iron ore trains. They can run anything up there. I seem to recall that one may be saved for preservation. If you go to "send message" with an email address I'll send you a pic.
Rocketboy Bravo, the atmosphere of the video is very nice! the train is awesome! its great size and it is so long! we do not train too beefy in France!
Rod-that lead unit's paint scheme reminds me of the old Erie RR diesels in the '50's and '60's here in the U.S. Nice capture on both those videos of that train.
What a glorious sound!

Another nice video Rod. I really like those double ended units. Triang used to make a model based on them in the early sixties. Happy days.

@steamertony1 I would suggest that it is a direct 'steal' of the Eerie scheme.
