  • Man if leonardo d'vinchi could see this.

  • Is this program hard to use? I always wanted to work ik 3D

  • so u sculpted from one side and the otherside follow that side ?

  • can you help me out i m new to z brush m learning it through dvd

cant able to save my file properly and like i i save my file as document +save tool but later if i want to again work on tht file i could nt able to .

it dont allow me to go in the edit mode wht should i do

  • does this program allow you to add color, or is it simply a sculpting software?

  • Tremendously tremendous.

  • Hey, I'm new to zbrush (Just downloaded it a few days ago actually..) and this is an amazing sculpt. Do you have any tips for a beginner? Also, how did you make the hair? Finally... any tips to help me learn to use the software faster?

    ~Thanks!

  • Lol, Lenin

  • wich tool did you use?

  • @tjoohoo11

    clay brush and standard brush

  • At what point of sculpting a face, does it make sence to introduce asymmetry? Is it a dead end, for example could you have done the hairlines asymmetrically and then continued working on the face symmetrically? Thank you very much!

  • @gusphraba

I guess it would be best to do all symmetric work first and then do

asymmetric things. However, you can always turn symmetry on after switching it off.

It will always affect corresponding polygons on the other side, no matter if they had been

affected by asymmetry or not. I accidentally turned the symmetry off when working on the

left ear, so the right ear remained unfinished.

  • @gusphraba - you could put the asymetry on a separate layer

  • snoop dogg?

  • resnov!

  • I wish i could afford Zbrush :(

  • he looks like the russian guy from cod world at war

  • Reminds me of Revolver Ocelot.

  • Is it a Lenin?

  • @umsplatt No :)

  • Cool job. I am usually kinda stressed when I'm recording sculpts :P

  • For that part where you masked to do the hair how did you do that part?

Did you scale it then use the move tool, or did you scale it then use the move option?

  • @equinoxdbz

I just scaled it. It was an experiment, I never had done hair that way before. In scale function in Zbrush there is a line with 3 circles on it with which you can control center and direction of scaling, and I was just messing with it until I got the result i wanted. I guess I had some luck, because it was pretty quick. That line is not visible in the video because I was using "on mouse" recording option, which records only the parts where changes on the object are being made.

  • @palamud Yeah It was quite a bit of luck, makes it easier instead of doing it the other way, Im now glad to have seen your video :D

  • dont tell me..hes using a graphic tablet :|

  • This vs photoshop vs maya vs solidworks?

  • @happygamestvfun1 You cant really make 3D in photoshop or can you? And if you can, i bet its easier to have textures and sculpting in one place. If ubisoft used this to create characters... then there is the answer :D

  • One word. EPIC.

  • amazing!!!

  • Hi

Great tutorial! did u use anything like symmetry function cuz u are doing in one side and other side is also coming....

i am totally newbie in z brush

  • @chandsantosh

    Push X to activate symmetry.

  • That's ok :P, you might want to have a look at my ZBrush vid for some improved techniques :)

thanks and good luck learning the art of ZBrush ;)

  • @friedcoke

Thanks. I like your Donald Duck Blender videos.

  • How did you change brush display to a small circle instead of the usual brush??

  • @ankipruthi

I didn't change it, it was default display in that version of Zbrush i guess.

  • this program looks so fun

  • Really nice to see, I'm really going to have to learn Zbrush, I don't have much need to produce characters at the moment though and I use Vue for Terrains.

Its makes traditional head creation look dated.

  • Heloo ,, i have made a model in zbrush and i wanted to animate it,, so i saved it as obj file,,, it turned out that its heavy as hell 160 mb.. so 3d max doest want to open it ,,,,,, whats the trick to animate that hight detaled objects?

  • is learning zbrush easier than 3d programs like maya or 3ds?

  • @BLEEDINGSKULLS

I dont know, i mostly use a few basic functions and brushes for sculpting and that wasn't hard to learn.

  • is this a program you would recommend to an aspiring video game texture artist. i know that you need to know photoshop but i think this was another program that someone told me i needed.

  • @Chickenboydude

I really don't know, haven't tried texturing in Zbrush yet :)

  • can modeling, textureing, rigging, and whatever else be mastered by one artist so that the artist could create his own cgi? assuming money and equipment wasnt a concern of course.

  • @SIRA063

Yes, but creating cgi being very time consuming process, productivity is limited in quantity.

  • z brush looks alot easier than i thought! and the lighting is already done

  • im hotter

  • Yes

  • did you know that this is the software that ubisoft used for making characters in assassins creed 2

  • Did you know that zbrush is mostly use to sculpt model to be used in program such as 3ds max.

Or to improve the topology of a 3d object...

So yeah they use it but it not exactly how it work ^^

  • @sworddude114 And in the film avatar, and iron man, and 300, and the new prince of persia game... Its a good program ^ ^.

  • @sworddude114 Did you know that people use Zbrush for more than just Assassins Creed 2?

  • very cool.

  • what tool do u use to sculpt like that?

  • @TimTehPilot

    clay brush and standard brush.

  • @palamud I am interested in having you z brush sculpt a piece for me. It is work for hire and I could arrange payments through paypal or check if you are interested in doing this piece for me. I can give you more details if you email me thomas83710@msn.com

  • @thomas83710

Sorry i didn't reply earlier. I haven't done anything in Zbrush for long time, and I am far from being an expert. There are many real Zbrush masters you can find here on Youtube who can do that job much better. But I am interested to hear what kind of sculpt it was about.

  • Does anyone know how to save the model as a .tga

  • How can i press the wax?

  • You can use the move brush to move the surface in any direction, or hold Alt key to invert the effect of any brush you are using.

  • Do you use clay brush only?

  • No. I used move brush in first 6 seconds of the video, then switched to clay brush, and at about 35 sec switched to standard brush. I also used slash 2 brush for sharp lines on hair and beard.

  • hi

what tool do you use to squish he clay in at the very start when you wewre molding the base design for the skull

  • Move tool

  • Hi I'm newish to ZBrush just wondering how you did the selecting of the head to layer the hair. thanks :D

  • Hold Ctrl key to draw mask. To invert the mask, hold Ctrl key and click anywhere outside the object. Than anything you do will affect only the area which is not masked. I used the scale function to inflate the hair area.

  • thanks

  • And how did you pulled the hair but keep it tied to the "root" line?

  • Never mind. I figured it out.

  • @trodat07

    scale function

  • @trodat07 Masking tool, hold down Ctrl to draw a mask. It makes an area IMMUNE TO THE EFFECTS OF ANY AND ALL TOOLS

  • This is awseome !! Very good! I am very impress!

  • do u use a tablet for this?

  • nicely done. working on a medusa model in college now. a question for ya, when you started off working on ZBrush, was the ZBrush book outdated?? We have the most current, which in fact is 2 years old, and written by a complete idiot. Let me know. Thanks.

  • Hello palamud :)

I was wondering if this takes long time to learn? Downloading this now and my brother are still on me about learning Maya and zbrush because it's awesome tool, so did this take you long time to learn? And did you have to practice allot? :)

  • It didn't take me long time to learn the basic things, and I haven't gone much beyond that. I use Zbrush very rarely, because I'm interested in too many different things. So, I did not practice much, but I used to draw allot when I was kid and teenager.

  • Great job brother, zbrush is an awesome software, i use zbrush too :D, im using it a couple months ago, and wow, is very powerful

  • yeah.. I was like, "no fucking way man".. when I first found out about zbrush.. been modeling in 3ds max for years now and now I use it for mostly rendering and scene setting.. :P

  • how do u do with 2 side follow wat the right thing u draw?? any tips? bcos i need to do some project on my school

  • what kind of computer do you use? I'm looking for a computer and i'm really interested in this lind of stuff.

  • My second ever you tube post! and 2 is my lucky number! Anyways I think this is a really cool piece, especially as im guessing its just intended as a bit of practice. Just goes to show how nice zbrush can be in terms of sculpture speed. Infact! I would love to see a sculptoff between a conventional clay sculpture artist and a zbrush artist. They would both have to have the same ammount of experience obviously^^ I hope I havent just kick started a clay vs digital art war D: anyways nice work

  • hey palamud, great character in the face but my advice would be to start the sculpture by using the Move brush to get the overal structure right and then start sculpting/defining, its amuch easier and more efficient worflow.

    good sculpt though!

and ericrubinoff listen to santisc4d, he speaks wisdom

  • zbrush has iirc an option to do so, just check it's tools

  • nice model. how do u record these videos?

  • Thanks. I used "record" option under the "movie" menu. Video is recorded at 8 frames per second, and played at 24fps, so it's 3 times faster than real time. Plus using the menus are cut out, which I didn't use much. I don't use timelapse option because it's too fast (I think it's 12x faster than real time), and I like to see the brush movements, which is pretty much impossible at that speed.

  • Pure Insanity Skill.

  • wow that is fucking excellent mate. love it

  • Wow amazing, i spend hours in 3ds Max trying to create a decent looking face and I can't even create that and with zbrush it seems so much better although I try using it it's pretty hard I still have to learn. Well congratulations very nice job, why don't you upload more videos?

  • And how much human anatomy have you studied?

I would guess as much as all the users who have given this vid 4 or 5 stars. (not to be rude, but really, if you look at it, its not that good from a anatomical view point).

And the software doesn't make the artist, or the medium, if you know what your doing its going to look good...

  • Actually I haven't study human anatomy at all. In about 2 weeks I start my 3d carreer and the first 3 months we are going to study character design.

  • Santisc, the author of the video didn't intend to make an anatomically correct head, it's good for what it is.

He can do something most people can't.

  • Well I dont know what his intention was, Im just saying that eric shouldnt expect 3DsMax or Zbrush to compensate for his lacking skills and knowledge.

If you dont know how something looks, then how should you be able to build it? (especially if you dont know how to build)

Sorry if I appeared to be offensive.

But a big thanks to palamud for sharing his piece of work with us :)

  • No need to be sorry, all critiques are welcome.

  • what tool where you using at the begining to make the eyes, nose, mouth etc

  • clay brush

  • It's an interesting program, but too bad everything starts off looking like self-help guru Wayne Dyer.

  • Very nice! How did you do his hair? You masked it, then what? It became inflated a bit.

    THanks

  • Masked it, inverted the mask, and used the scale function to make that part little bigger.

  • Can someone explain what zbrush is, I understand it's a program to paint and sculpt but I'm confused, is this a stand alone program that can be used with out, maya, max or cinema4d? because I am learning 3ds max and hear people talking about this program, but don't know if I need it.

  • It's a stand alone program that produces high detail objects for other 3D programs. You could use the objects for rendered cinematics or for normal maps for real time objects.

  • What tool are you using to deform the face in the first 10 seconds?

  • Move tool

  • It's Lenin, camarada.

    Very nice

  • What tool did you use to sculpt? The simple brush or clay brush?

  • Tried the clay brush first 35 seconds of video, then switched to standard brush.

  • not bad, but you should always work from the lowest res possible up to the highest..

  • Unless he has no need for low-poly models and is just doing this as an artistic pursuit. If that's the case you should leave him alone.

  • Wish I could sculpt in ZB like that, brilliant

  • This video is inspirational. Thank you so much.
