@lolasianful Doubt you can do 5. 20+ for anybody is super impressive, that's why doing 20+ in the army gives you the rating of "perfect fitness". However, i do think that this number is a bit low for a competition, 40 or more would have made more sense.
i'm tired off all youtube clips when everybody say that these are pull ups. this movie shows the REAL chin ups! it's harder then you think to do these perfect without throwing around your legs!
nice to see someone still does chins...i know its from a chin up competition, but for building lats, its best to pull up higher, and contract hard, while keeping legs behind you, that way the back is arched
Amazing! very few YouTube posts have correct chins, 21 correct form chins is pretty damn good if you ask me. These idiots saying they can pull 25 with 50 lbs. strapped? All I goota say is... Where's the video?
I won that part of the competition (strength part) by doing 21 approved chins and 56 aproved dips. Other than that, there were 3 rounds more. A Symmetry round (2nd place), a condition round: 500 meters on a concept 2 rowing machine level 10 (3rd place), and a finale which was symmetry again (2nd place again). that gave me a total of 8 points, 2 better than he who finished 2nd in the entire competition, and therefore i won the competition as a whole.. :o)
not sure about the rom - they didn't come up that high. when we drill chins i.e. underhand grip we have a rule that chest must hit the bar (other rules are no kipping, swining and full extension every time). Using this protocol my record is 18 chins - tim scarfe
Hi Tim! Kipping? Is that the same as a pause/rest? I think that dead hang before entering the chin up phase, ensures that momentum is not assisted by swinging legs etc. A chin-up defacto standard or protocol would be highly appreciated :-) Btw very well done Anders. Hvad siger du Anders? Findes der en standard?
Kipping means you use your legs to kick your way up. If you are in control all of the time swinging won't be a problem. When I was in the military the body had to be calm and straight without kicking the legs or swinging. Nå har ikke jeg lest alle kommentarene da, så mulig jeg sier noe andre har sagt fra før :p
I don't think there will ever be a chinup defacto standard, theres about as many opinions about it as there are people.. ;oP But The competition chinups in Denmark are as you see on the video. Full extension, not too much swinging or kipping. I remember one guy getting 8 reps annulled because they weren't full extensions.
IMHO there is a big difference in doing underhand chinups like you, and widegrip overhand chinups like I do on the video. At the competion there are rules about swinging and kipping. At one point in the movie, on of the referees tells me I'm swinging to much. Thats why I'm taking a small brake in the bottom at some point.
I thought this was the guy from Workaholics. This is definitely not him.

@fullcontactfighter7 You are correct sir, chin ups are when your grip faces you. Pull ups are actually a bit more difficult IMO.
