Hi, this seems extremely close to the Chinese Health Qigong Association standardised Ba Duan Jin. The CHQA are based in Beijing. Does Hu Xiao Fei work with them? Is there a connection? Thanks
@SamCoxThorpe Hi. As I'm sure you know a lot of the versions of the Ba Duan Jin exercise have many similarities. This one is specifically the Daoyin Yangsheng Gong set. It predates the Chinese Health Qigong Association (CHQA) version but one of the teachers who is heavily involved in the the CHQA, Yang Bai Long is also a colleague of Hu Xiao Fei at the Daoyin Yangsheng Centre in Beijing. So it's quite likely that he was influenced by the this set when working on the CHQA set. :o)
@bentamba The in breath takes place at the beginning of each movement and then the out breath follows naturally in time with the movement. eg the first exercise - inhale while turning the head and palms and then exhale while returning the head to the centre. Most of the movements are done in a single breath cycle, however clearly the longer movements require more than one breath to complete. The important point is breathe if you need to breathe. :o)
Thanks for your comments. I'll get around to the translation at some point but in the meantime - the teacher is Hu Xiao Fei. He is a qigong teacher at Beijing Sports University. :o)
Wonderful video! Thanks so much! (Would love some English subtitles...)
