I guess it's a hard thing to overcome, once it's been working into your way of thinking for so long. Sort of like smoking, when people have a cigarette after every meal or whenever they drive, etc.. It takes time, and for most people isn't just an instantaneous switch. All I can say is keep trying!! :D And always push yourself.
Try not to be so hard on yourself...you are a wonderful guy and nothing and no one can take that away....
