Zeal makes me think of Plato's parable of Atlantis: a kingdom that tried to defy the gods and amalgamate more power than ever before...only to be destroyed. I used to read the story as a warning against such action, and it probably was intended that way...but now I'm not so sure. Maybe the story is more about having the courage to defy your limits no matter what the consequences.
@templar19 Pretty sure your original reading was the way the intended point of the story. I considered the same connection when I first saw the destruction of zeal - I wonder if that is where they pulled the inspiration.

@templar19 What would have been so awesome was an animated cutscene of the fall of zeal. At the very end the screen goes black and that parable is the only thing on the screen.

Trigger and Cross were both amazing in their own way. True, there were problems with Cross like, too many characters and failing to put Magus into the story (which would have made it ten times better than it already was). But it was still a great game with lots of emotional moments. Oh, and felixrush, you really need to stop whining just because you didn't get a nice Trigger sequel. Chrono Cross AND Chrono Trigger were BOTH great games.

Hell, even Schala's last minute entry into the game was so forced. "Saving her" as if she was a victim. It was so stupid, she's the one who fucking caused Zeal's destruction. Then Lavos fuses with her because she hates the world for something SHE CAUSED. I hated it, hated the game, and hated the stupid bullcrap ending, hated the fact that they killed off ALL OF THE CT CREW off-screen and then further BS their own story by saying It all never happened and was a subplot for "infinite possiblities"

Yuuji is listed as a designer, meaning he gave orders to Masato. Besides, if Masato did steal it I think Yuuji would be smart enough to catch that don't you. Masato took his design and wrote it into a story. Exactly as he was told.

Explain to me then, why he was solely behind everything from the script to the scenario's of Chrono Cross and called it HIS game series? Why did he become so fucking arrogant and ruin Chrono Trigger with such motherfucking bullshit story writing. The guy couldn't even do as simple of a thing as giving a motive for the player to go along with the story, let alone all the cliche bullshit Cross was full of to make the game longer for the sake of it.
Probably because they let him continue the series on his own, with Radical Dreamers. The Dream Team had nothing to do with Chrono Cross. The entire team decided to do something different with Cross because they were all afraid of rehashing Trigger's story.
If you want to try and understand Cross then go to a website called the Chrono Compendium.
I didn't see anything about her having scales anywhere under Harle's article, but it's not like I'm gonna loose any sleep wondering if your right or wrong about that.

I really doubt the stupid story writer of Cross ever read "Of Mice and Men".
Cross's plot requires too much suspension of disbelief even in an super magical setting.
And the whole idea of a sequel was BS. The story writer is a freelance writer, meaning he NEVER intended to make a sequel for Cross.
I personally hate the guy because he stole Trigger's story from the creator of the Dragon Quest series and claimed it as his own work. And then he made that terrible sequel that ruined it.

Ever played Chrono Cross? There is NO MOTIVATION AT ALL for ANYTHING. You never know WHY you're bothering doing these random acts, The game felt so utterly pointless.
I didn't mind that the previous group had died, but the narration of Cross just sucked so badly and was so uncompelling it really pissed me off.
In Trigger they tell you WHY, HOW, and WHERE but in Cross? "Lol! Keep moving on!"

Trigger and Cross were both amazing in their own way. True, there were problems with Cross like, too many characters and failing to put Magus into the story (which would have made it ten times better than it already was). But it was still a great game with lots of emotional moments. Oh, and felixrush, you really need to stop whining just because you didn't get a nice Trigger sequel. Chrono Cross AND Chrono Trigger were BOTH great games.

Hell, Serge was presented as a character with a lot of background development but he never shows HIS reactions to them and the player is never able to connect with mr. shakes his head pointlessly a lot.

Hell, even Schala's last minute entry into the game was so forced. "Saving her" as if she was a victim. It was so stupid, she's the one who fucking caused Zeal's destruction. Then Lavos fuses with her because she hates the world for something SHE CAUSED. I hated it, hated the game, and hated the stupid bullcrap ending, hated the fact that they killed off ALL OF THE CT CREW off-screen and then further BS their own story by saying It all never happened and was a subplot for "infinite possiblities"

Secondly, it is clearly stated that Yuuji Hori wrote the story draft and Masato finished it, the point is, they were a "TEAM" no one stole anything.

Your really, stickin' to this aren't ya? Look just because every detail isn't listed of what each guy did does not mean Kato stole it. Have some more sense than that would you? Yuuji is listed as a designer, meaning he gave orders to Masato. Besides, if Masato did steal it I think Yuuji would be smart enough to catch that don't you. Masato took his design and wrote it into a story. Exactly as he was told.

Explain to me then, why he was solely behind everything from the script to the scenario's of Chrono Cross and called it HIS game series? Why did he become so fucking arrogant and ruin Chrono Trigger with such motherfucking bullshit story writing. The guy couldn't even do as simple of a thing as giving a motive for the player to go along with the story, let alone all the cliche bullshit Cross was full of to make the game longer for the sake of it.

Probably because they let him continue the series on his own, with Radical Dreamers. The Dream Team had nothing to do with Chrono Cross. The entire team decided to do something different with Cross because they were all afraid of rehashing Trigger's story.
If you want to try and understand Cross then go to a website called the Chrono Compendium.

I really doubt the stupid story writer of Cross ever read "Of Mice and Men".
Cross's plot requires too much suspension of disbelief even in an super magical setting.
And the whole idea of a sequel was BS. The story writer is a freelance writer, meaning he NEVER intended to make a sequel for Cross.
I personally hate the guy because he stole Trigger's story from the creator of the Dragon Quest series and claimed it as his own work. And then he made that terrible sequel that ruined it.

Wrong dumbshit. Her helping Magus closed the gate forced Crono's team to use Epoch which got into Dalton's hands. Thus Guardia's fall and Crono and Marle's deaths.
Her being found by Lucca ended up getting Lucca killed in a fire.
The Dream Devourer created Fate which went and killed Robo.

I mean, I liked the music! ... But think about it like this - if bad stuff isn't happening in a story, who's gonna be interested? And what's Magus gonna angst about if Schala isn't there? (The angst is what makes Magus popular, y'know) Also, if there were no Schala, this awesome song wouldn't be there.

Ever played Chrono Cross? There is NO MOTIVATION AT ALL for ANYTHING. You never know WHY you're bothering doing these random acts, The game felt so utterly pointless.
I didn't mind that the previous group had died, but the narration of Cross just sucked so badly and was so uncompelling it really pissed me off.
In Trigger they tell you WHY, HOW, and WHERE but in Cross? "Lol! Keep moving on!"
I always thought to myself:
Moving? where? How? and WHY?

Tell you the truth, I never finished the game. For most of the reasons you said, too. It dragged on about pointless stuff, there were too many character and pointless decisions to make. I'm not even surprised about the ending.
However, the creators would have made a game like that anyway, with or without Schala. Chrono Trigger was too popular NOT to have a sequel.

It was so stupid, they never explain anything fully and leave room for doubt on EVERYTHING they say. Nothing concrete about the Trigger party ever comes up. It's all guesses and I just got sick of it.
Schala herself looks NOTHING like CT Schala, if anything, I had thought I was looking at Marle, which would have been much better.
The story really had no plot and never tries to generate interest in its audience. It's crap
