I have the "look for iphone..." box ticked. I have disabled my Windows Firewall and my Bitdefeder Firewall, and after plugging in my iPad, it just shows up in itunes, like any other mobile apple device. No mention of a 4-digit code.

What else could it be?

hi, I also had same trouble of the 4 digit code not showing in my itunes. All u gotta do is make sure you have your wire-fall settings set in a way that it allows your computer to remotely access devices. You can select individual wirefall settings and tick mark all the components that deal with remote access. Hope this helps!

i have os4 and the newest itunes it wont let me connect it i open the app plugin in my ipod but it just says its my ipod and doesnt show the enter 4 digit code

had same problem and found this XD

You have to make sure the bonjoure service is up and running.

1.) Close Itunes.

2.) Disconnect the iphone from the USB.

3.) on a PC, go to Start>Run> and type in services.msc with out the quotes.

4.) then find the Bonjoure service, right click it and hit start.

5.) open remote app on iphone and hit add library and get to the screen that has the 4 digit code.

6.) open itunes.

7.) if bonjoure is running, it should show up instantly in itunes

You have to enable remotes in the devices section of the itunes settings first. The last option "search for iPhone and iPod touch remotes" (or similar, had to translate it) has to be enabled. Afterwards the entry for the iPhone/iPod touch in the left column will be extended by the symbol for the remote shown in the video. Click this and iTunes will ask for the four digit code.

you connect the ipod touch/ iphone to the computer via usb cable and open up the remote app on your hand held device when itunes is open. When you press add library, it will initiate the passcode log in screen on itunes and type in the passcode. that will settle it.

hey- i actually just had the same problem until i realized im an idiot- couple things

make sure your wifi is on and is working- also i dont know if this makes a difference and i honestly dont think it does but once i disconnected it from my laptop it worked- hope this helps

Took me awhile but you have to go to Edit>Preferences, then select the Devices tab and check the box that says "Look for iphone and ipod touch remotes. By default it is not on. Not sure why. Hope this helps!

you have to go into your computer's security center and find the part that allows/blocks programs and unblock it. my remote app worked fine but i've had to do that with other programs

just make sure that in the preferences in itunes, that you adjust it to detect remotes and also make sure both devices are using the same wifi connection. (1 source)
