  • I remember that year when Darrell Green race against Carl Lewis;Carl won 10:08 to Green 10:09,and Green to Texas A&I in 1983,wow brought bac memory.

  • still the fastest guy on the team....and yes deion sanders was on the redskins that year...NUFF SAID

  • @HarpsAnimation

    Nah bro, Panther! :D

  • Eyeshield 21 for those of you who understand thumbs up :3

  • I live in the DC area and Darrel Green has a camp to help local athletes.... He recently (2011) ran a 4.4 40.... Man has got to be close to 50 now... amazing

  • @rossi46is1

He ran a 4.43 to celebrate his 50th birthday. Hankerson ran a 4.43 at the Combine, and he's nearly thirty years younger than Green.

  • @ComputerJunkie00

    Green 5-8

    Hankerson 6-2

Maybe a little weight difference you think

  • Comment removed

  • @rossi46is1 51, actually, which is quite amazing! Willie Gault is also posting unbelievable times in the 100 meters as well, and he's the same age - just what are these guys eating?!

  • @bloodnchocolate One thingh Darryl, Willie and Herschel are doing is still training, keeping heavy foods out of there system consistently and perhaps also abstaining from Sex more. As a Man ages while everything is important, diet, rest and exercise, thee most important thing is cutting back drastically on Sex, body doesn't recover like it did in great young years in your 20;s.

  • @Runner688 do you have any proof of the whole sex thing? ya.. didn't think so.

  • What shoes did he have?

  • Sexiiimamita180 : actually he had the 2nd fastest at 10.08 behind Carl Lewis. and that story that he beat carl isn't true. youtube--NFL TOP 100 DARRELL GREEN. carl sets the record straight Green NEVER beat him

  • yeah i knew that, not to take away anything from him i;m just stating that Hayes 47 years ago ran a 10.05 on a chewed up lane 1 dirt track in tokyo(they actually had to rake it to even it out)green, brown, sanders, graddy, who all have slower times than Hayes(and their's were run on modern rubberized surfaces would be nowhere near 10.05 if they ran

on dirt. Hayes WAS the fastest man to ever play in the NFL.

  • @use2slam2 Hayes was faster than Green yes but Green was a "MUCH" better football player and athlete than Hayes ever was...lol

  • @collin355 Dear Sir Green was blessed enough to avoid using alchol at all as Hayes did toward the middle part of his career which started to tell on him his last 3 years in the NFL 1972 through 1974. You forget though that Hayes was always an excellent High School and College Player before spending more time in track in becoming the Worlds Fastest Human so to say Green much better, not sure about that, though Darryl is extraordinary.

  • tx130666: he beat lewis over 40 yrds NOT 60. evrybody and their mother could beat lewis over 40 yds once he passed the 55-60meter mark he would hit full speed and blow by everyone-that includes green !!!

  • @use2slam2 IN COLLEGE HE HAD THE FASTEST TIME IN THE WORLD HIS SENIOR YEAR ..BEFORE HE WAS DRAFTED.. IN THE 100M

  • The crazy part about it is Darrell was straight speed, you didn't see him spending a bunch of time trying to make sure he had the perfect technique for his 40

  • someone wrote that green beat Carl Lewis at 100m. that N-E-V-E-R happened. youtube-"NFL GREATEST 100 DARRALL GREEN" in an interview Lewis sets the record straight- Green NEVER beat him !!!

  • @use2slam2 Cool story bro

  • @use2slam2

He raced Lewis on an old 80d's t.v. show were different athletes competed against each other. I saw the video, he beat Carl Lewis in a race but it was 60 yards, not 100 meters.

  • @tx130666 it was not in the 80's..it was the spring of 1991..it was the fastest athlete in the world contest..Darrell Green won...

  • @use2slam2 he did have the fastest time in the world coming out of college though in the 100m

  • A 4.2 --- 40@40yrs.old = Damn!

I could drank a 40oz.@40 and that's about it folks.

    Cheers from Cancun Mexico :-)

  • How did he train?

  • hmmm lets think who else runs 4.2... hes 6'5" and played ball at marshall...

  • collin355: man what video you watchin? you can CLEARLY see that haynes even had to slow down to make the catch where green was already in stride then haynes has to kick it back into gear and green never stood a chance. and as for brown beaten MANY times he "beat" brown the ONE time they competed against each other and browns people actually protested stating brown edged him out. look it up no b.s.

  • @use2slam2 Looks to me like Green was playing a zone coverage and was trying to play catch-up. Even if that's not the case, he was behind by at least ten yards before catching up, and got gassed. Not really blowing someone away if they get burned out playing catch -up. Without seeing the beginning of the route, we'll never know.

  • yeah, RON brown. darrell couldn't catch him on a monday night game on a kickoff. better yet type in "chriss miller to michael haynes." watch haynes actually pull away from green and i like green. still no one compares to bob hayes 10.05 46 yrs ago on a wet dirt(YES DIRT) track hell green and browns best 100m is 10.08 and they ran that time on MODERN rubberized tracks, they'd both be lookin' at his back !!!

  • 40 really isnt old for a man provided he trains accordingly

  • sena kobayakawa! eyeshield 21!

  • Genetics. Part animal. Duh.

  • oh shit ! 4.2 at 40 ?! that's one inhumanly IMPOSSIBLE

  • why is he listed at 5'9, there is no way he's 5'9 ,hes 5'7 max

  • @buckwheat40 hes 5'8

  • "ripperduck"-considering the shit surfaces hayes ran on 47 yrs ago i still feel he was the fastest all-time. as for his anchor leg it was ALOT faster than 9.8, it was 8.6 and on that dirt track= C-R-A-Z-Y !!!

  • @use2slam2 so you give green no credit?

  • green "ALMOST caught brown from behind he had the angle but brown was a legit10.08 100m(as green) 1 guy he didn't catch was haynes(type in chris miller to michael haynes) and even darrall couldn't catch him. matter of fact he slowed down to catch the ball and green at full speed turned it back on to pull away from green.doesn't matter NO ONE in the NFL could match bob hayes, 10.05 46 yrs ago and on a chewed up DIRT track(64 olympics)green brown etc 10.08 deion a slo 10.2 on modern surface tracks

  • @use2slam2 True dat about Bullet Bob Hayes. The US track team demanded that he be allowed to run in one of the middle lanes, but they IOC denied the petition. Take a look at his running the anchor in the 4X100 relay, when he had a chance to run in a much better lane. I think he ran a timed 9.80 or some such crazy mark. Bullet was a beast....

  • @use2slam2 you talking about Rob Brown??? Green went up against brown in quite a few fastest man competitions and beat him "EVERY" time..nuff said

  • nothing against green i like him but deion did chase down green in his 1st or 2nd year in the league

  • @aristokret can you please tell us where we can find this??? I have heard that from other deion fans but no one can seem to verify it..I know that deion rarely played WR and he woulda had to played it in a game against green and green woulda had to have an INT to get run down so I find it very rare and doubtful..I do know 4 a fact that they played 2gether in 2000 n green had da fastest 40 time on da team so ur facts dont add up

  • @collin355 Hi collin,

    You were asking aristokret to prove the claim of Deion chasing down Green, when you asked him;

"can you please tell us where we can find this??? I have heard that from other deion fans but no one can seem to verify it."

Collin, you wont hear from aristokret again. This is because of the VERY simple FACT that it NEVER HAPPENED.

This RUMOR began in Deions' 2nd year when he "announced" to the press that he was faster than Green. It was typical Deion "self-promoting."

  • Usually unmentioned about part of what made DG top notch was his hops. It wasn't a gimme to throw upstairs to a tall receiver against DG because he had tremendous leaping ability to jack up plays.

  • im sooooo jealous, im 23 and i can't even run a 4.4 flat

  • I wish he had finished out the 5 year contract... I'd have loved to had seen a 45 year old man shutting down TO and Ochocinco in 05.

  • @wohs145 It would have been something to see him try and cover the former world's fastest human BoB Hayes in his era as well as just before Darryl's era in there prime Cliff Branch and Mel Gray

  • The fastest time Deion ever ran was a 4.21 same as chris johnson. That was at their combines and green did it at 40!!! I just don't understand deion sanders fans!!!

  • damn that's flying

  • Deion Sanders is faster than Darrell Green. Darrell Green was one of the most underrated great cornerback in the 90's; him and Aeneas Williams. The most popular cornerbacks in the 90's were Deion Sanders and Rod Woodson. Did Darrell Green ever defend Randy Moss? I know Deion did.

  • @NFLCB21 When did Deion? In 98' when he was cleared to play and still didn't, MOss had 3 catches for 150+ yards and 3 TDs?

Green did play against Moss. Moss had 5 catches for 68 yards but was largly held in check.

  • @NFLCB21 how do you figure that? did they ever race? Certainly, on paper, Green was faster having run a sub 4.1 40; moreover, Green's career was far longer and he stayed at "prime speed" far longer. Green ran a 4.2 at age 40; Deion was retired and covering football when he was 40! Green caught Dorsett, Dickerson, Rice, and Irvin from behind and almost caught Ron Brown, a Gold Medalist, from behind. Pretty-boy Sanders didn't even like to tackle! Sorry, no comparison, though Sanders danced..

  • @contactjlu you forgot to mention that Green beat carl lewis in the 100 meters in a college track meet and deion never even dared to compete against green in the NFL fastest man comp...could it be that deion knew he would lose since Green NEVER lost in the 4x times that he competed in it..lol..

  • @collin355 Hi again,

You have that correct. After Deion, self-titled "Prime Time", made this (stupid) statement, with the camera bulbs flashing (to his delight) in his smiling face, Darrell Green publicly challenged "Prime-Slime" 2 straight years to run against him in the NFL's fastest man competition.

Deion declined BOTH invitations. You do have to give him credit though. He was MUCH better at self promotion than the game of football. He made a lot more $ doing so

  • @collin355 Hi again,

Lastly, to quash the rumor, the "OLD MAN" Green absolutely SMASHED Deion in 40 yard dash times when they were teammates. Deion was NEVER faster than Green, at ANY TIME in his career, EVER.

Another FACT... At 40 YEARS OLD, Green ran 4.2 in the 40. Deion NEVER matched THAT time. Think about it. Darrells' time at AGE 40, was faster than Deion, at ANY age!!!

At age 50, Darrell STILL clocked 4.43!!!! That time would STILL be in the top 10% in the league!!!

  • @MarkCoupons That makes me sick. I'm 44 and maybe I can break 5.0 in the 40 and I used to be a sprinter. Thing is that DG always took great care of himself. No late night strip clubs, no drinking/drugs, no thug bullshit. He was a professional in all that he did including his NFL career...

  • @NFLCB21 you're funny!!!!

  • dude looked 20, not 40. damn!

  • this is when the young CHAMP BAILEY and DEION SANDERS was on the redskins!

  • sorry bob hayes fastest ever to play. also check out "chris miller to michael haynes" and type in "ron brown rams" and watch darrell not be able to run them down. and with brown he had a small angle and STILL couldn't catch him. green and brown ran 10.08's

but on modern surfuces. hayes 47 yrs ago ran 10.05 on a chewed up DIRT track in tokyo

  • @use2slam2 - That may true but that's really saying who was the fastest man to every play football, as opposed to the fastest player on the field game in and game out. Green beat Brown in the NFL's fastest man in 1991, and that play on the kickoff return, everybody forgets that Green is coming from way across field, having to turn and chase a guy already in full sprint, and still gets his feet. He just ran out of field. Green was a cooker for 20 years. Not 4 or 5 like other burners.

  • @jcva1899 The Bears' Willie Gault in his prime........

  • @ironworkerjeff green beat gault in a race

  • dumb black monkey is only good for running fast FROM THE POLICE

  • @provex0 AND FUCKING YOUR MAMA

  • @provex0 LOL oh no not the "Hey I like to watch videos & leave racists comments on youtube" guy. Come on now that tactic is played out! get a life.

  • Deion Sanders was on this team.

  • @TightSportsNetwork your right deion was he was a lil older too tho.. he was kinda hampered by injuries would be nice to see them race in their primes ithink darrell would get em

  • @84SHOWTIME Deion isn't older then Green. He's 7 years younger.

  • @Hondaftw1 yeah i nowhere near sed he was older den darrell i was saying deion was old in general nd that i wuld love to see them race in their primes

  • While you haters are all talking about Dorsett and the "angle," I'll start telling you about a guy who went back and forth for first and second in the 100 against Carl Lewis while he was in college. Other players may have been football fast, but Darrell Green is the only one who was world class fast in football AND track. Flat out, if you think Dickerson or Dorsett could have kept up with Green in a perfect controlled environment, I'm sorry. Darrell Green cooked with gas.

  • @jerichotpkbandit I agree..its a riot how many people shit on green and say him and him were faster..just look at the footage..lets see some vids iof green getting burned... there are none!!!!!

  • @collin355 yeah on special teams you would see Green RUN down kickoff return men from behind...no faster NFL player...ever...

  • @jerichotpkbandit

Plus, Green was short, hence short legs & short legs give you quick burst but a 6'2" Green would probably gain on the real Green in a 60-100yd run at around 40yds due to his longer gait. Someone should do the math on that Green/Dorsett highlight to see if the angle mattered & if it did, how much?

I beat a guy (4" taller) in the 50yd dash & lost to him in the 100yd dash cause his gait was longer than mine. Way back when we were in shape. lol. Long time ago.

  • He came a spoke at my church in Orlando a few times . . . I had no idea who he was. Anywayz . . . if you live in town, come to Orlando World Outreach on Sunday 11am!

  • Awesome,Green your the man.

  • Darrell Green was phenomenal. The first time I ever heard of him was while watching a game between the LA Rams and the Redskins. Eric Dickerson broke out of the scrum and was all alone running for the end zone. All of a sudden #28 breaks out of the scrum, chases him from behind after trailing 10 years and caught Dickerson like he was standing still. Amazing!!!

  • Darrell Made a career out of running down some of the leagues fastest men over the years....He was almost always the fastest man on the field every game...That mustve been a pretty awesome feeling..

  • darrell green has ALL NATURAL speed lol. unless u count those tootsie rolls

  • @niospecv Very unlikely. Aside from his character, Green HATED needles. Nearly skipped the NFC championship game in 1987 against the Vikings because of some strained rib cartilage. Needed the whole team to convince him to take a Novocaine shot. Also, he's STILL sustaining his speed (ran a 4.3 a couple months ago for his 50th birthday), and he's been retired for almost a decade. Why would he still be on something? Dude was on genes, that was it.

  • When I say 'aside from his character', I simply mean that Green was a hell of a sportsman. Doesn't seem like him.

  • When I say 'aside from his character', I simply mean that Green was a hell of a sportsman. Doesn't seem like him.

  • AMAZING! He like 50 years old now and probably can run a 4.40?

  • @CoolSmooth99

he just ran a 4.43 last week at 50

  • my guess is it was more like 14.43 or the guy was imagining he was being chased by a police dog.

  • just heard he ran a 4 sumthin at the age of 50...wish there was a video

  • @lilross2k6

    4.43

  • 4.43

  • what a boss

  • That's gotta be HGH or steroids man!

  • apparently he clocked a 4.43 today (his 50th birthday). damn he fast

  • @georgegabriel9 - WTF? A 4.2 forty at 40? And he ran a 4.43 on his 50th birthday? In-freakin-sane!

  • @georgegabriel9 he clocked a 4.43 with ZERO TRAINING. He basically just put his shoes on and ran. Imagine what he would run if he trained for six months.

  • @4JayeP, if you gave him 6 months of training, hell he go back out and suit up. I mean he wouldn't be a starter, but he would make a good nickel corner or a converted strong safety.

  • @redmustang03 If he ever came back to the NFL his biggest contribution would be locker room leadership. I think he would be a great influence on the young guys.

  • @georgegabriel9 u aint see'n favre do that

  • @georgegabriel9 well...maybe I'll get him when he's 60...

  • 4.2 at 40....thats just mind boggling

  • he also ran a 4.09 but it was unofficial

  • this is unofficial too buddy all hand times are unofficial this here would be a 4.4 electronic at fastest but its still damn fast at 40 years old

  • @biglittlejujitsuman This IS electronic. It's in 2000.... They put in electronic timing in 1999.

  • ye its only electronic at the combine not at your own teams ground

  • Freak of nature...who runs a 4.2 at 40

  • Shit, who runs a 4.2 at any age????

  • @andbway who runs a 4.2 at 20 besides chris johnson and jacoby ford

  • @bevans52

sam shield runs a 4.20 40yard, he plays cornerback for the packers. faster than chrisJohnson (4.24)

  • @shaochiavang i know who sam sheilds is i can name and give bios on 99% of the nfl cuz im a no life football junkie but he did not run a 4.2 at the the nfl combine were thy have electric timers so they get the exact time so its not valid in my opinion

  • @bevans52

yes, i understand what your saying. but heres a ex. johnny knox is very fast, no doubt, he ran a 4.34, but shield was able to keep up with him, and watch how fast he runs during that last int. watch?v=I8pJlCJjrrU

  • @shaochiavang i belive you he probly is a 4.2 guy i watch alot of the university of miamis games and they said he was the fastest guy on the 2009 team and that team had alot of sppeed as miami all ways does, but football is not about running a 40 it about beating the man in front of you

  • @bevans52

yes, sam shield is the man that is gon beat the other person. he is very underrated, because he played only one year as a Cornerback and many team thought he didnt have to skills, i think he played wr his frist 2-3 yrs ?? something like that, but shields is gon be a probowl player after woodson retires, very good player for a undrated rookie.

  • DAM THATS BEAST

  • Texas A&I Javelinas!!!!!!!!!!!! Texas A&I/A&M Kingsville not only has seven national championships, the Javelinas also have more

former players in the Pro Football Hall of Fame than Florida State, Auburn, Texas

    A&M, Virginia Tech and Florida.

  • By the way, Dorsett held the 100yd dash record for NFL Superstars. Google it.

Its even been said he was easing off at the end.

  • all i can say is: DAMN!!. i bet he was thinkin': in your face rookies!!

  • ADRIAN PETERSON Step BROTHER a Transfer from MICHIGAN STATE has the FASTEST 40 yard time this YEAR. Search DEWAYNE LEWIS the kid is sweet...

  • Green woulda beat him!!!!

  • Darrell Green was probably late thirties by the time Sanders was a rookie.

Carl Lewis never wanted to race Green again because Green ran 10.08 at college before he joined the NFL.

  • 2001 they played together ,Darrell was fastest on the team Deion Sanders 2 & Champ Bailey 3

  • This never happened. It was a rumor dreamed up by some Cowboy fans to try and tarnish Green.

  • @MinamideSporlock How would this tarnish Green???? It makes him look good in my opinion.

  • @jaypro81 I wasn't referring to the video. When I wrote this I was replying to terrencenewman41's post that said Deion Sanders ran down Green on a punt return. That never happened.

  • @MinamideSporlock Oh ok. Sorry then, i didn't see that. They just had your post at the top of the comments and i immediately replied

  • @jaypro81 Np :)

  • Darrel Greene was the only man who could shut down Randy Moss

  • if you listen you will hear he clocked a 4.2 in the 40 at 40 years old not a 4.3

  • Darrell was not shy about talking about his speed. Nor should he have been.

  • Some people gave thumbs down to the guy who said it was hand timed and probably a 4.3, but that guy is probably right. I'm a huge Redskins fan too. But still, 4.3 at 40 years old is AMAZING. Amazing is actually an understatement. Not to mention that Darrell was an incredible man OFF the field too.

  • a 4.3 is amazing, period

  • Clearly you all do not know football "Bullet" Bob Hayes was definitely the fastest player in the NFL he has just been shadowed because of his drug use after his career DG is after him then of course Deion Sanders.

  • Who was the best football player? Yeah, Ron Brown returned 2 KO's for TD's against Green Bay in 1985. What a great stride he had. Green Bay drafted a CB in 2003 named Chris Johnson. He was timed at 4.19. Of course he blew out his knee his rookie year. Plays for Oakland now, I think. Bo Jackson was the fastest I remember, also taking into account he was about 30lbs. heavier than Brown,Sanders or Gault were.

  • track is track...

in football pads, Darrell Green was not catching Dorsett in the middle of the field... he needed that sideline to do it..

  • Dorsett had nothing but field in front of him, and Green pulled him down FROM BEHIND!!!! You can try to use the sideline as an excuse, but Green chased him down from the opposite end of the field.

  • not from behind..diagnoaly...its called angle

look, just because he needed that angle to catch Tony Dorsett, doesnt make DG not-fast... it just means he used the boundries to make a big play... smart play, Kudos

  • I know what you're saying about the angle, but when he tackled Tony he tackled him in bounds from behind. Tony actually had the "angle" beat because if he hadn't beat the angle, Green would've simply cut him off and pushed him out of bounds.

The funny thing is that instead of giving the man kudos, you're actually trying to take away from his speed by saying that he REQUIRED the sideline to make that play.

  • I did give him Kudos

Nobody can downplay Green's speed. Its evident when you watch it. Hes phenomenal.

But what I see is people taking away from Tony's speed.

This isnt a worthy play to judge who's faster, both sides can claim victory.

Its not the kind of play that convinces me Green would have caught Tony in the middle of the field like he did to Eric Dickerson.

  • You're right on this one, Darrell Green took an angle, but Dorsett was already up in front of him so he did "run him down". In fact, because he was going across field, he as well had to cover more ground while doing so. I think the automatic assumption is that if you chase someone down diagonally, you took an angle to proportionally keep yourself in front of them. But I saw that clip and Darrell Green came up from behind Dorsett, effectively running him down.

  • My Dad told me he watched sometime in the 80's a track competition involving athletes from track&field and other sports. Carl Lewis and Green were both in it among others. Green was the overall winner of the competition. It involved multiple race distances and change of direction sprints. In response to an earlier post about Green beating Lewis.

  • Ah, I remember this. They ran a 100M. Actually, Darrell Green was 3rd. Lewis won, and then another track guy was 2nd. This also included RB Dickerson.

You are correct though - Green did win over all.

  • it was 1991 and it was called the fastest athlete in the world competiton..green won..he also beat carl lewis in the 100m in college...green was a beast!!!!

  • hey for everyone who says this isnt laser u can hear the beeps and see tha laser posts in the vids....DG was legit man at 40

  • yea he right it is laser

  • It probably wasnt 4.2. It was hand timed. It was probably closer to 4.3. Still apsolutely amazing for his age.

  • Green was undefeated in his years of running...ran in 4, won all 4..he beat Ron Brown . never ran against D. Sanders in comp. Sanders seemed to run the years Green didnt.

  • if Gault was so much better than Darrell, why then head to head did he have such a tough time getting open frm Green...i checked the playoffs when the two matched up..1984, 1987.. Gault caught 2 balls for 119 yards in 2 games...big production there by Gault...Oh, yeah, Darrell always was left 1 on 1 with the best wideouts from each team. EVERY GAME. HE SHUT DOWN Gault as he did many a wr.

  • green beat gault in the "86" competition.

  • Let's say it again for everyone who talks about this kid from this school who runs this and does that... Darrell Green smoked ALL comers. Did Deion Sanders ever beat Carl Lewis? No, but DG did. Age here - 40 40 yd dash time here - 4.2 seconds Participation in NFL's Fastest Man - 4 Wins in NFL's Fastest Man - 4 Losses - NONE Fastest known time in the 40 - 4.09, 1986 FOUR POINT ZERO NINE SECONDS Fourteen years later, FOUR POINT TWO. Don't take my word for it - take Steve Sabol's.
  • i agree with you about everything except i think its 5 fastest man titles. AND when and where did he beat carl lewis? AND i never knew about a 4.09. Is that documented?

  • Here you go. I don't think you can put other URL's in here.

nbcsports -dot- msnbc -dot- com - /id/25923389/

  • its non official but it also wasnt done by laser.

  • Kool-Aid drinkin Cowgirl fan. What have you been smokin?

  • u the one smokin if u think Green could out run Tony

  • green also was on the other end of the field he was the fastet man in the NFL time after time he was and more than likely still is faster than tony. also he has set records in track, has tony?

  • and Tony was coming through the line, breaking tackles, then head up the sideline while Darrel was zoning in...

If you look at that play, you can see that Tony is a hair faster and pulling away...had they both been in the middleof the field Tony would have had him.

Tony wasnt a track man.. im sure he woulda set plenty of records tho

  • by the way...Tony had already been in the league 7 years while Green was a rookie.. Green still needed the angle.

  • ok and at 40 green ran a 4.2 what did dorsett run when he was was 40 a 4.2 i doubt it. guess who beat carl lewis in a 100m green it doesnt matter and dorsett was in the clear when green caught him dont make excuses

  • Well lets see.. Dorsett was out of football with a blown out knee at 35 years old. So I guess Darrell gets him at 40.

    But Im not making excuses...

DG is a world class speedster. Im not denying that. I love the guy.

But if you look at that play, looking at the slightly more overhead angle ( its on youtube on the 8 min Skins vs Boys MNF highlihgt video)..if you isolate just DG &TD, you can see TD is pulling away ever so slightly...not by much, but if he had more real estate, he had Darrell.

  • Comment removed

  • Green was unbelievable and a better human being. He is AWESOME.

  • green also outran willie gault who had world class olympic speed in the fastest man comp. i watched him beat e. metcalf also and you all remember him catching dorsett from behind on a monday night game in which dorsett had such a lead on him at the 1st point of the run ..green wasnt even in the picture.

  • All true, but RON BROWN (of Rams and Raiders fame) beat Darrel Green TWICE in the competiton for the NFL's fastest man (in 1987 and 1990).

Ron was a member of the relay pool for the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, finishing 4th in the 100 meters at the Trials, behind Carl Lewis, Calvin Smith, and Sam Graddy.

Don't forget the U.S. boycotted the 1980 Olympics in Moscow, so none of them (including Willie Gault) got to run at the previous competition.

  • Visonary0001- I watched Darrell Green beat Ron Brown in the Faster Man-not sure what year. Willie Gault and Ron Brown were getting publicity about their world class speed and Green beat them both. The only time I remember hearing Green beaten was in the mid 90's by one of the cowboys young receivers. I do not remember his name but he did not stay in the nfl long. There should be an official record for the competition somewhere online. Where are you getting info that Brown beat DG.

  • My brotha, I wasn't questioning the accuracy of your statement about DG being the fastest overall in NFL history (in terms of top end speed).

Ron Brown has the NFL's Fastest Man plaque from 1990 hanging in the den of his house, and he has a trophy from one of the previous years (maybe 1987?) also. I have seen them myself.

Q: Who do you think are the top 3 fastest of all time, in FULL GEAR? My picks: Ted Ginn, Bo Jackson, and DG. Jeff Demps (Univ. Florida) will challenge in future.

  • Shouldnt Deion Sanders b on that list?

  • Mike Sherrard ?? (Cowboys)

  • There is a piece here on youtube titled "Darrell Green - Washington Redskins - Fastest Man in the NFL" It is 7 minutes and change. If you want to see Gault get owned, it is at the 2 minute mark.

  • DG was a beast.. fuckin cheetah out on the field.

  • he smoke weed i bet

  • who doesnt smoke....
