  • i wish it was this ending. BUT STUPID JONATHAN MOSTOW HAD TO DO IT

  • If only they'd used this ending. No dire T3 and no borning T4!

  • Comment removed

  • how did they get the clothes right?? lol

  • this ending sucks ass

  • michael jackson would have been 39!

  • Too cheesy, glad they didn't use it. There was really little impact. The lines were delivered poorly and didn't really impact me at all, and she just looked ridiculous.

Glad this never saw the light of day in theaters.

  • I've watched Terminator 4 in theater and I don't understand ending. It's my opinion, that the annihilation of the human race is caused by people's dark heart, not by Skynet. Hate and despair. Is that right?

  • Michael Jackson turned 40.

    Never expected to hear that.

  • Ironic thing is On August 29th 1997 Michael Jackson would have been 39 not 40 lol

  • @gamestar92

You are retarded. That is not irony. You do not understand irony.

  • "Verbal and situational irony is often intentionally used as emphasis in an assertion of a truth"

Yeah so, fuck off you twat go and call wikipedia a retard

  • It wasn't ironic, it was just wrong.

  • I kinda like pretending the events of Terminator 3 didn't happen, because it wasn't very good.

  • Agreed deleta. This is the ending we should have had.

In some messed up way I always grew up imagining if this was ever real, a big ending to things. One line that always stuck with me through the years.

" If a machine can learn the value of human life....maybe we can too".

    We live in hope.

  • @Delta4845 Terminator is like Alien best is the second, after that its Rape.....

  • lol. the "michael jackson turned forty" line was funny.

btw, where's little kyle reese in this scene?

  • lol yeah that line was funny.. because it was SO important in this storyline XD lol

  • uh didnt he die in the first terminator?

  • yes, michael jackson did die in the first terminator.

  • that's a good ending

  • Jeez what a miserable ending Im so glad they didnt go with that sugar coated pish.

BTW there are NO 'alternate reality timelines' as the film accurately depicts, consequently there are no paradoxes created.

  • john doesnt look like christian bale xD

  • lol what fact checker fucked up on michael jackson's birth year?

  • Nonsense! in 1997 John Connor could'nt be that age! Terminator 2 takes place in 1995! How's that he becomes from a preteen to an adult and with a dughter in just 2 years??

  • @daemonaeon they didn't say this was 1997, they said 1997 passed and nothing happened. this is after that.

  • it isn't 1997 dude, listen to what they're saying. This is 30 years after or so.

  • Yeah, I listened carefully again. Sorry, English isn't my native language. So, I didn't get the idea.

  • wait if that would have happened then john shoudnt have been born. (thinks to hard and head explodes)

  • That's another reason why Cameron was told to change it. It sets up a HUGE paradox. If the sequels were better, then maybe Cameron would realize that this ending wasn't the best.

  • this ending doesn't make sense, how can reese go back when the war was prevented? that means john could not have been born. he shouldn't even exist.

  • with the existence of the time machine, i think this is posible. i like this ending

  • michael jackson turned 40? hahaha

  • Believe it or not, Cameron prefered this ending, and still does.

It's too sappy, which is why it was changed, but at least it would have prevented those really crappy sequels.

It's not too bad though, and Cameron does sappy really well anyway.

(Ex. THE ABYSS, TITANIC, and AVATAR)

  • For a movie with such great makeup, how the hell did they make old Sarah look so bad? They must have known going in that this wouldn't see the light of day.

  • no thats someone else

  • No, it's not.

  • ohh my bad well than thats some REALLY BAD make up hahaha

  • Good thing they didn't go with this.

  • I think the best terminator ending is in the third one.

  • Wow...

  • i thought judgement day is invetible

  • @legopooper24

It never said that till the 3rd movie...which, if you go by this, never happened....which I think we can all agree would've been the best.

  • This ending really never had potential to be in the movie, because John was conceived because of Judgment Day, meaning John's existence is to fight the machines. With no war, John wouldn't exist.

  • This is indeed a genuine 3rd Alternative ending of T2.

This can be seen on the T2 DVD which features all 3 Alternative Endings, 2 being visible on the menu which are Theatrical & Special Editions.

Just highlight the Special Edition option and key in '82997' (without qoutes), to unlock the hidden 3rd alternative ending.

  • All you people arguing about the plot, all I have to say is lol. You're all tripping your minds out thinking about this stuff, just take from the movie what you will and enjoy. Yes it is very insane and confusing but nothing to argue about.

  • i didn't think this ending existed haha not bad

  • ???

  • if the war of the machines is prevented then technically john cannot exist can he? for starters the time machine would have never been invented because the terminators made the time machine. and john would never meet kyle and will never send him back in time to sleep with his mother and so he will never be born.

  • iduno if theres two methods to timetravel but :

    1. if you go back in time and kill your mum before you're born you dissappear (stop existing, butterfly effect) because you were never born.

    2. you can kill your mum and nothing happens to the 'you' whos travelled back in time.

But this ending seems to go along with method 2. because in this ending john never has the chance to send kyle reese back in tiime to save sarah and conceive john.

  • I Think They sould have used this ending.

    If they did

1 Sarah did not have to fight a hard life anymore

    2. NIck Stall

    3. Medicore Sequal T3

but if they relased it, take out the micheal Jackon, its too random

  • MJ turned 40, yes he did, then died of drug overdose.

  • The obvious implication of this ending would be no further sequels. Of course, on another level, this ending could never happen. Skynet would still have to be created and judgment day would still have to occur or you would have a paradox. See Novikov's self consistency principle... The probability of an event occurring, that would create a paradox, is zero. This is why the third film moves forward with judgment day, but in a horribly flawed manner. That's another story altogether though.

  • If this ending stayed. there would of been no Terminator 3, No Sarah Connor Chronicles, No Terminator Salvation. Best reason to keep the Movie ending as it is is simply Finacial

  • wow...man I am crazy glad that someone told them this was NOT a good ending...though...3 was NOT a good continuation...and 4 was pretty lame...hmm maybe this would have been better, huh?

  • the ending we live in now ....lol

  • Instead this ending was used for Titanic

  • I hope they make Terminator 3...yaaaay. Im excited.

  • are you serious?

  • This ending would ruin the whole movie for me.

It's just how bad and cheesy this is.

  • I think the point of the 3rd movie if Cameron had done it would have been Connor would've been Defense Secretary or President and traded rise of machines for the ability to win the war he foresaw!

  • cameron was in the tv show not the 3 movie

  • He means James Cameron the director of the first two films

  • Although I like the original ending, the truth is if this had been the ACTUAL ending, that poor light technician would not have been yelled at by Christian Bale.

  • Here's one thing I don't get..

If the Machines are stopped, Kyle could have never gone back in time to meet Sarah to have John, therefor John wouldn't have existed because the machines have been stopped ;X

Or John had a different dad..

  • shhhhhhh

  • You must open your mind!

  • Please, dont gets us started on time travel!!

  • a paradox!

  • @Dmasterman

    Remember

There is no fate in which we make for ourselves

  • Well then answer this:

John's mother gave birth to him way before his dad was born.. Which mean, if time were on track was John's dad always the same? Or did he tecnically send Kyle back to change who his dad became? :O

  • @Dmasterman

i dont really know, but we dont even know if its possible to change the future. if they stopped judgement day 100% then the dark future will be erased. We dont know about kyle, if they did stop it then he should be forgotten out of thin air and people's memories. Then john still should be alive and when he grows up, he sends kyle to the past for a diffrent reason, probably not because of a terminator. but those are all theorys. but i do know where you are going. but idk100%

  • Comment removed

  • Well in this alternate ending, the dark future never came, therfor Kyle would exist, but never be sent back in time. Unless time is two different alternate realities.

  • @tproject19

they would never had stopped 100% cuz thats just how the things happen... so basically the world's end has to come, and john would be killed by the t - 800 as sed in the third movie ;)

  • John can't have a different dad. The legend of Sarah is that she trained John to prepare for the future war. I doubt Sarah would do this without KYLE going back and informing her of the future war.

Kyle will always go back in time. Kyle will always be John's father.

This means the T-800 will always go back in time, and it's chip will always serve in the existance of Skynet. And who's to say Cyberdyne doesn't have back-up files? Judgment Day could ALWAYS happen.

  • Well it DID happen in Terminator 3.

But I kind of prefer Cameron's films and don't really consider these crappy sequels as well canon sequels.

SO, assuming this was the real end.. You're basically saying that by Kyle going back, he has created an alternate timeline, therfor the time he was from would have never changed, but he created a different time, in the Terminator 1-2 films. Which defeats the other paradox's of sorts.

  • I'm not assuming Kyle created an alternate timeline and/or reality. He came from "one possible future." That one possible future is the one with Kyle as John Connor's father, and where John leads humanity, and prevails, against the machines. Kyle did not create an alternate timeline.

I could PM you a whole explanation on this. I don't have enough room :/

  • But you see, Kyle MUST'VE created an alternate timeline, otherwise it would go back to my original paradox, in which IF Judgement day was stopped for good, there would be no dark future. John would be doing what he's doing in this video. Therfor never having sent Kyle back to create him, which would ultimately not have John, in which this wouldnt' happen, nor would this scene happen, since the Machines would've won. =/

  • I'm doubting the alternate timeline theory. The way I see it is that John needs to eliminate ANYTHING that will give birth to Skynet. Like many others have said, if this ending existed, John Connor wouldn't, and so wouldn't Skynet.

The way to really put it there is this:

If Skynet doesn't build the Time Displacement Equipment for the T-800 to go through, then John Connor doesn't have to send back Kyle. Which means both parties wouldn't exist later on.

    Time travel is extremely confusing.

  • It's a paradox

  • @Dmasterman which is why terminator 3 makes sense.

  • That would make it the alternate reality timeline in which not only is time written in stone, or it's inevitable, but the fact that the whole fact of sending terminators or Kyle back in time would've been pointless since the Machines WILL lose.

  • @Dmasterman well not terminator 3 exactly. kyle and the terminators already appeared in the past meaning they have necessarily already left the future so i think you cant have time travel without determinism. in my eyes the fact that they appeared in the past proves that you cant change the future and the time travel and the resistance were never alternate timelines at all. it was just the natural progression leading up to the same cycle. thats the only way i could ever make sense of it

  • it's the alternate reality timeline thing.

  • @Dmasterman It isn't though. I mean... Reese was John's dad. That means sending him back in time wasn't a deviation from the original timeline, otherwise John wouldn't have been born and sent Reese back in time. The past and the future are written in stone because they are interdependent.

  • It is an alternate timeline. If this ending were true/canon/official, then Kyle DID create an alternate timeline by stopping the dark future. But this timeline is ongoing while John in the original future is still living in the dark future trying to rebuild.

  • My good man, thank you for saying that. I was just about to explain how them sending anybody back to begin with had to mean that that was already predetermined that they will send it back, so it's all one universe time line all along. But you said it much better, and i agree 100%: that is the only way i can ever make sense of it.

  • hey, good looks buddy, and nice username! FSM 4 Lyfe!

  • Thanks for that i guess :), heh. What is FSM btw?

  • Flying Spaghetti Monster.

  • oh lol right

  • HOWEVER, if this is the case that Kyle created an alternate relatiy while another reality is already in existence and cannot change, that would mean, that sending a Terminator or Kyle back would have NEVER changed the outcome of that timeline Kyle was originally from. Which would have defeated the purpose of the time travelling thing all together.

  • MJ turned 40! LOL

    How random is that?

  • Its actually a miscalculation. Michael Jackson turned 39, not 40. He's the most famous person whose birthday falls on August 29th.

  • i dont care how much 3 or 4 trail behind this one, not having this ending was the best choice.

rotten tomatoes? the same website that gave forest gump 72%? c'mon 4 wasn't that bad.

  • I was laughing when Sarah Connor said that Michael Jackson turned 40 (he actually turned 39, this is a calculation error) at 0:23. Hoo hoo hee... long live the King.

  • Michael Jackson turned 40... LOL!

  • If they had had this ending, they definitely wudn't hav been able to make Terminator 3

  • Which is why they didn't use it.

  • Exactly the reason they should have used it!

  • prequel to T1 in the future

  • In the 1st movie Reese said he was from "one possible future" so I suppose this ending is valid if he meant that time travel creates parallel worlds instead of causing paradoxes.

  • Comment removed

  • One day this shit will happen in real life, I garuntee you that, I mean Somethings going to wipe out the human race, either natural disaster, hells apocalypse or nuclear war

  • I disagree if people were more tolerant and intelligent and understood that hate fear primitive and would see that we are a race we should live as one we might stand a chance, while Im at it you would be able to see that any including all is a load of rubbish, an intelligent person would be able to see through the imaginative god and see the truth in science and logic.

  • An intelligent person doesn't criticize ones belief, the way to truth and understanding is to let everyone believe what they want without hatred towards anyone.

  • This is actually a pretty good ending. It would have effectively killed a sequel tho lol

  • That sequel never should have been made anyway. The 3rd one was when it just degraded into a plothole filled void of garbage.

  • i never saw this ending.

  • I prefer the theatrical ending... but if Cameron would have chosen this one as the original, we now wouldn´t have the shitty 3rd part and the okay 4th one... it should have ended with this! GO CAMERON! Can´t wait for AVATAR!!!

  • This is probably a better ending because it doesn't really leave room for a sequel.

  • If there wasn't a war, John wouldn't be around.

  • Exactly what I thought, so this ending wouldn't have made any sense because John only existed in the first place because of the war. Him still being around showed that the war still happened.

  • this ending is good and i like t2. but like most people picked up if the future war was stopped then resse wouldnt go back to strut his stuff with sarah and john wouldnt have been there pushing his kid on a swing

  • Michael Jackson's birthday is on August 29.....why did they feel the need to wirte that in?

  • Because it's saying that things are just going on as usual.

  • Not according to rottentomatoes jackass, so I guess it's not just us

  • rotten tomatoes is just a load of...well, rotten tomatoes!

oh please the critics there are so full of crap they gave the first home alone a 40%rating. because theyre run by the same whiny bitches like YOU

  • T4 was a piece of shit littleman -rottentomatoes is just a compilation of reviewers - and fuck home alone 1 as well - what are you 5 years old? - you're boring me

  • what i meant by that was rottentomatoes sucks dick at rating movies, like you. all those "reviwers" are just a bunch of retarded nerds who pick on every little detail. fuck you and fuck them both

now get out of your moms basement and go find some chick and get laid. fall in love with something else other than T2

  • Sure, because commenting on my response to a great sci fi film speaks highly for your active social life...

And I just did fall in love with something other than T2 - your hilarious "comebacks"

I assume you're not getting much action either - maybe we can help each other (wink)

  • nope, i dont allow a movie rating website (a horrible one at that) dictate my taste in movies.

well its nice to know something else entertains u other than t2. lol or does rotten tomatoes have to be the final judge on that?

and i really dont care what you (or rotten tomatoes) think of me.

  • They should of left it with the original ending and never made absolutely abominations of the last two. Could not even sit through them they were so shit.

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

    T4 was hideous

  • ur mom is hideous...but at least shes cheap.

  • since you "know", I guess that would make you cheap and have no standards whatsoever.

Way to set yourself up littleman..I mean runningman haha

  • wow you really have no taste in anything other than t2 do you kid?

  • What a hero. Sarah Connor saved humanity from Terminator 3 and Terminator Salvation!

    *clap clap clap*

  • This ending is more lighthearted but there's still a darkness to it. Maybe it's just the music that played over the scene.

  • If only this ending was in the original version. Terminator 3 & Salvation wouldn't have even exsisted. Those damn directors and their desire for a quick buck. Makes me sick.

  • Eh, you gotta give them a little credit. Terminator 3 and Salvation weren't good, but they certainly weren't the worst movies ever. Also, for better or worse, they were successful at making big bucks. ;-)

  • salvation was a flop thats why the series is up for sale

  • I will be fair, T3 & Salv. weren't God awful (trust me I've seen WAY worse films) but they were unnecessary. I do know the difference between unnecessary (Indy 4 & every single Disney sequel) and just plain horrible (Batman & Robin and Dragonball Evolution).

  • Terminator 2 is the total package. It makes you think, is stylish, has great acting, and stuff gets blow'd up!

  • Honestly, they should of just went with this, and end the series (That way we wouldn't have to get that abomination known as Terminator 3).

  • And, also, terminator salvation.

God saves you from that movie......

  • I agree 100% I had high expectations for that movie and I left 1/2 through it because I was going to puke in my popcorn.

  • Original ending is better. The moment when T-800 dies is the highest emotional peak in the film. Ending like this would low it down.

  • Who plays the little girl? This is a nice ending, but it would've ended the franchise.

  • little girl looks like mary-kate or ashely olsen

i know its not her, but still

  • see my Invasion of the Bodysnatchers HAPPY ENDING vids AND my termanator 3 vid

  • Ending is still wrong though, John should cease to exist as well since he is a product of the future that never came.

  • Haha! That paradox is evident regardless.

  • But he's alive in present day 1997 surely?

  • Michael Jackson turned 40

    XD

  • Actually he turned 39 in 1997.

  • This was an interesting ending.

  • This ending is kinda screwed up to me

  • WTF !! did she say Michael Jackson turned 40? !!!!???

  • if they had used this ending there most likey wold not have been a T3 or a T4. it kinda puts a permanent end to the story.

  • Maybe, but they always could have just put it as a different time line. Still, I love this movies dark and bleak idea of the post apocalyptic world.

  • michael jackson turn 40 ? wtf ? LOOOOOOOL

  • its kind of funny to think taht sky net made john conner thay made thare ownd doomb in a paradox

  • I would had liked this ending...

  • Yeah too bad it doesn't fit know that they made T3 the way they did. I didn't really like T3. Anyone feel the same or just me?

  • yea it wasnt the same without LH! and it just plain sucked!

  • Very interesting ending. Too happy for a Terminator movie, I guess that's why they cut it out.

  • Comment removed

  • thats why this ending was cut

  • hey... that true!

  • grand father parodox

tihs is probably why thay cut it out

it could make you go mad thinking about it

  • Okay for the time line theory its rather simple, if you take two reactants in an experiment and they combine to create a product, then you have a product period. Taking away the reactants doesn't get rid of the product at this point. This is the same with the Future War and Kyle Reese, they both are the reactants, and they produce John Connor. If the Future is destroyed and Kyle is gone, that doesn't mean John ceases to be, he was already produced, hes here to stay.

  • Prefer this, instead they got greedy and had to go and ruin it by making those 2 god damn awful movies.

  • Prefer this ending than making more terminator films. I like how John's still a soldier, even if it is in politics.

  • I believe the same, there is a timeline where John Connor it's slightly different because his father is another dude, and then when he send Kyle Reese back in time, who was in love of Sara from seeing her picture, he became the father of another child who Sarah calls John cos' of Kyle's story. So he is a different John Connor, he became leader of the ressistance because he will be preparing for that since birth.

  • I like this ending much better. It follows the rules of time travel.

  • for this would disagree look at this way. whenever one goes back in time you create a branch in the river of time or alternate timeline. their are no paradoxes. With the death of the guy who invented skynet , the destruction of the lab, and destroying the chip, the protoype arm, and both terminators, in the steel mill all possible ways for skynet to be created have been destroyed. John would not cease to exist because he is an alternate John. The war doesnt happen and he becomes a senator.

  • And I am a Terminator fan. A True one that understood the story behind the action.

T3 and Salvation pissed all over the first 2 films.

It's fact, deal with it and move on.
