I also wonder, if it is accessible to switch the rechargeable battery? At its worse, in light of the pricetag, I'll have two of these cams velcro'd on either end of the wing tip and capture the breathtaking vid captions unless one has a prop-free jet propelled RC plane. I would think this would be better served on the underside of a glider. :)
My thumbs UP on this vid and added my sub for your updates. I would someday soon, have this nice new hobby added to my past-time and see how it serves well. As I have ordered the Hyundai version, with under two hours of time permitted, I think a 16Gb card @ Class 6 should offer a good clarity to the resolution. With the noise distortion, a simple thin but solid rubber tube inserted into the mic crevice should take care of it or simply, tape it over with a small portion will do.
I just placed an online order for HD version from or called>>: HYUNDAI SHORTY SNAP MINICAMERA. Little is received regarding feedbacks so after the confirmation, I'm looking up on the Net and yours mentioned about cheapo versions etc. Another suggested abt SD & HD , I believe mine will and is the HD since it assured 1980 x 1080 res. Anyway, my q'n is, with buttons on one side, do they need to face upwards or the opposite when filming and why not paste over the mic to cut out noise instead?
why don´t you pack the small cam bearing surface to the whole of the outside. the part is so light that it should be little difference, if only just a counterweight to the other side pack.
the old problem with the propeller. i used a multiplex twinstar, mentor and an easyglider for my videocam. twinstar when the cam is seated in front in the hood, the glider above the wings between the mentor and the bottom of the landing gear. this seems to be the best place to walk away from the propeller to. the glider can do even better if and when his prop twinstar one is from the area altogether. look at my page views also.
Nice. I have the hardware so I can flash these cameras to remove the timestamp (version 3 of the hardware only, I think) - Which decreases the required bitrate. Based on pluc.fr - gumstick camera hack.
But using a commercial eeprom programmer and a clip.
The forward pointed view on the Katana it is picking up the prop rotation, hence the bars on the picture. Actually I'm surprized at the video quality you got... when I tried it on my airboat the footage was terrible. I tried it on my Alula handlaunch and didn't get much better results. I may try and track down another card and see if that helps, plus that website on the forum mentions re-flashing the controller chip - not sure how to do that , but I will look into it when I get some more time.
Yeah nice one Bruce, when i use mine mate i always put the cam so you can't see any part of the plane so that way you tend to get a better video IMO ;-) just my two pennies worth mate = thumbs up.
@RCModelReviews Hello Bruce, I have a bit of constructive critisism about your overal youtube channel. You seem to start alot of very interesting projects but progres seems a bit slow (this may be due to bad weather etc.) for exemple the Turnigy 9X and the FrSky telemetry, so maybe its better to finnish one project before starting another. It's also sometimes a bit hard to find all the parts in a video series so putting those in playlist is greatly appreciated. Thx for the vids!
I found a brilliant one for just $10 the other day; good picture with a clear if a bit quiet microphone. Only problem is it seems to reduce the range a bit, that and the file sizes are stupidly large (50mins = 4gb). Plane is a Dynam Hawk Sky (which I would highly recommend getting) using a stock 4ch 2.4ghz system.
One thing you'll notice is that the field of view is really narrow. This makes the video both jerky, constrictive and hard to follow. Better get a camera with a wider field - shorter focal length. Makes a world of difference.

I notice you mounted the camera sideways so you must have had to rotate the video through 90 degrees to get it the right way up. How did you do this?

@FlyHighRC386 Yes, I'm working on part-2 of the Turnigy review now. I just had this video laying around so I figured I'd stick it up.
