  • This is a good speech because it reminds people of the consequences of our enormous public debt. When I checked a few years ago, interest on the public debt was the third largest expenditure of public money.

  • You were not thinking about our children paying over the last 8 years.

  • Greeting's Patriot!

    Mr.Politician

I want you to support HR.1684 and S.816 and to "OPPOSE BILL" S.843

Life is not so short but that there is always time enough for courtesy.

    - Ralph Waldo Emerson

  • "If the American people ever allow private banks [ie. Federal Reserve] to

control the issue of their money, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them (around the banks), will deprive the people of their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."

    Thomas Jefferson

  • "I believe that banking institutions[Federal Reserve Bank] are more dangerous

to our liberties than standing armies. Already they have raised up a moneyed aristocracy that has set the Government at defiance. The issuing power should be taken from the banks [Federal Reserve Bank] and restored to the people to whom it properly belongs."

  • You republicans say you believe in giving the money back to the people to stimulate the economy rather than the government taking control & spending money. Which people do ya'll think this money should be given to? All of the American people? Both rich & poor alike? I'd be for giving it out EVENLY. That is that one person doesn't get more than anybody else, everybody gets the same amount.

  • But do you really think that giving this money out to the people so they can use it as spending money today, in the long run is going to fix our economy? That's your solution? That's your long term fix? Look at the loopholes in this logic. It makes absolutely no sense, at all. We need to be looking at things in the long term.

  • That's an age old argument in favor of classical economics: "In the long-run, the classical economy operates at full employment."

Keynes made a famous retort to classical economics by saying, "In the long-run, we are all dead." Essentially, Keynes was saying we don't know how long it will take the economy to fix itself so we need government to step in and spend enough to close the spending gap that keeps the economy from full employment.

  • The idea is to build up surpluses during good years so you can deficit spend during bad years without accumulating debt, but this doesn't generally doesn't happen. Government has become more spendthrift, and during good economic times politicians figure they can cut taxes to make themselves more popular.

So we are stuck in a rut. Classical economies are prone to boom and bust cycles and government doesn't have enough responsibility/unity for Keynesian economics.

  • I have a couple of questions for you republicans. Ya'll are always preaching "LOW TAXES", and "GIVING THE MONEY BACK TO THE PEOPLE" and preaching against "BIG GOVERNMENT". Well I ask ya'll 1. Low taxes exactly for who? Ordinary people (I.E. minimum wage) or rich people (I.E. above 250,000/year)? 2. Give money back to the people, exactly how? (According to you guys). Big government? The closest we've ever come to big government was with Bush, (I.E. the patriot act & etc., no child left behind)

  • He also devised a way that he could bypass the checks and balances supposedly when national security was at stake or at least HIS definition of being at stake. It really was devised so he could do whatever he wanted to do and no body could do anything about it. That is the closest we've ever come to BIG GOVERNMENT. And what you guys are talking about is trickle down economics which by the way doesn't work except for the rich, because they get richer & the poor get poorer.

  • Thank You.

  • Another Limbash Ass Kissing Puppett

  • GOD BLESS AMERICA

  • everyone likes to beat their gums, but most are normally short on solutions...are 25-35% of americans willing to loose their jobs...can you survive without your tube, cell and no one listening

  • The above statment from a southern under educated, under paid, ReNAziCan, Red Neck, Trailor Dwelling, WalMart Working, Porch Hick.

  • Burr, represents another backward state---In the lowest ten in education and per capata income. The idiots that send people like this guy to the senate deserve what they get. And that is nothing---Huge Business CEO's, Well, Thats Another story, Burr votes to give corperate welfare to them all of the time. He knows his ignorant constituants dont know better. Burr another Out Of Touch ReNaZicAn

  • North Carolina has one of the best public university systems in the nation. And our increasingly educated society just swung democrat in the last election, probably as a result. You have no idea what you're talking about.

  • Congress taxes, spends. President approves. We buy oil from other countries, we give money to countries in trouble, people on the home front are corrupt and greedy. Some people hate us and we have to go to war and (spend more money) and lose lives.

Don't BLAME all troubles on ONE MAN. Don't BLAME Congress either.

THE PEOPLE RULE THIS COUNTRY but WE dont speak up>>. We have BRILLIANT MINDS in this country who are they can we find them will they solve our problems please....

  • Your fake talk works on TV but not hear buddy. Leave us alone.

  • The republican party is a southern party without an answer to our current situation.

If your remedy is doing nothing at all while the working man starves, then your party is'nt for me.

I hope you enjoy your new leadership in Rush Limbaugh.

  • During my lifetime the Republican party have been pathetic, especially since they began catering to the conservative, religious bigots who think the only right way is their way.

  • Why do I always hear those slimes saying "...republicans and democrats agree on where we want t go..."

That's the problem, two sides of the same coin.

Now the GOP thinks because obama is so popular, they have to play into his popularity by assuring everyone they want the same things he does. What crap. How these 2 (1) parties control every election is incredible.

  • BOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • He did not mention that Clinton actually left a surplus and Bush took that and created over a trillion dollars in debt. And the only answer I hear from Republicans for solving this problem is more tax cuts. Well Bush gave tax cuts and look where that got us. When a Republican comes up with more than "lower taxes" I might take them seriously.

  • Clinton also helped to create the housing bubble, bombed Iraq 3 times, and invaded Kosovo.

So don't tell me how wonderful dems are. Once we all come to terms with the fact that both parties are the same, the better.

  • what does gop mean?what ever it is it needs to be changed .good ol polutition.stupid

  • Govt. OUT of our private lives - Yes

Scrap the current tax code - Yes

Scrap the war on drugs - Yes

    Fiscal sanity - Yes

Adopting many of Ron Paul's "libertarian" ideas - Yes!

    Republican Party - No

Setting the bar at "Reagan/Limbaugh" - Hell No!

  • Nice Reagan/Limbaugh" update

  • Can they be trusted though?

  • Who is going to lead this comeback? The people listed I would not trust at all.

The only person I can think of is Ron Paul, but he getting kind of old.

I wish you guys would cut the nonsense and focus on fixing the country and less focus on stupid shit like abortion and gay marriage. Maybe more people will listen then.

  • Rofl I hope that is sarcasm. Another Bush?

    Jindal and Steele?

The GOP may be alive and well but conservatism is long dead.

  • the other way around, the GOP is dying but conservatism is going strong and ready for a comeback after obama fails.

  • the year 2043

  • There's a GOP? I thought they were extinct.

  • Then your clearly mistaking. The GOP is alive and well and we return this great nation to prosperity with people like Mitt Romney, Michael Steele, Bobby Jindal, Jon Huntsman, and Jeb Bush. We are reaching out to youth like Jonathan Krohn.

  • They are! They just dont know it yet.

  • Wow, look at everyones 401Ks, the housing index, foreclosure, unemployment, national debt, dollar exchange, GDP and all the banks.

Man, that Obama is a freaking awesome community organizer.

  • lmao your de facto leader is Rush "Michael J. Fox is faking it" Limbaugh.

  • hmmm, for once I agree, though for different reasons

I'm pushin' for the recession, we should rebuild something better than this corrupt capitalist bullshit we've got going. All this spending is trying to loosen up our wallets so we keep putting more into this broken machine. Through it out. Yeah, it'll hurt for a bit. But the fact is, its a piece o' junk anyways.

  • Democrats and Conservatives do not agree on where we want to go senator Burr. We disagree on everything from health care to gay marriage.

You also don't understand the concept of deficit spending. We predominantly borrow from Americans and the interest that you claim our kids will have to pay will be returned to them or their parents. What we really give up from deficit spending is good and services. The government borrowing money is in effect an act of borrowing goods and services.

  • If we can't get the pork out of the bill that is supposed to "save" America, then when are we ever going to deal with it.... The bill should not of passed , and especially when a lot of senators didn't even read the damn thing.

  • onemanband1963

Obama is the next Jimmy Carter he will never go for eight year.Hes already spent more money in one month than Bush did in 7 years in Iraq.Better hold on to your hats this dumb ass will be way worse than Bush ever thought he could be.The whole world is laughing at yall and so am I and yes I hope he fails.RUSH IS THE MAN AND MY HERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yea, bring on Pyish Jindal and I will show U 8 years of Obama. LOL

  • You guys had 8 yrs under dingbat-Bush with disastrous results. You've lost credibility, therefore, your opinions have little relevance.

  • "Yeah but BUSH so blah," thats really a fairly weak argument (I hope you realise this and I dont have to waste space elaborating.) I assume, like most Democrats, that you simply repeat your mantra when you dont want to debate the issue, or quite frankly CANT debate the issue.

  • that was actually pretty good..

  • 2 apples dont make a spanner.

  • im sick and tired of everybody saying the republicans have offered no alternative to this stimulus. great job senator

  • so, what's the alternative then??

  • Does anybody know what thegas4free.blogspot,com is that Obama has been talking about?

  • Whatever you do, keep funding volcano research!

  • And this guy would give you a great total war worldwide for that money. Whos really wasted your money

  • "Barack Insane Obama is not disrespectful but merely a statement about how I feel his policies represent extremist ideologies and contain little logical connection to helping the economy. I would love to hear how $500 million to NASA creates jobs, because there are millions of unemployed climatologists out there? Also I would like to hear how one calculates "saved" jobs. That would be great, thanks.

  • Davisbm1 please only make intelligent comments when posting something here. No one want to hear you rant. And the republicans (conservatives) believe in giving the money back to the people to stimulate the economy rather than the government taking control and spending money. We believe in small government and low taxes, which greatly stimulates the economy and creates new businesses and prosperity. Please read up on conservatism before you bash it

  • "We believe in small government and low taxes, which greatly stimulates the economy and creates new businesses and prosperity"

The 2008 Nobel Prize winner for research in economics would disagree with you on that.

  • When did the RenAzIcaNs start giving tax\breaks to the middle class working Americans? The only tax cuts I have seen them put forth were for the Oil Companies, and CEO's and the 1% higest wage earners. The working Wealthy. Not the struggling middle class.

  • Get your head out of Barakakhan Saddam Hussein Castrobama's rear so you can get a taste of reality.

  • Seems like ya'll want Barrack to fail & ya'll want the economy to fail too. Seems like you guys just want to sit back and watch the economy fall apart or work itself out on it's own or something retarded like that. What do ya'll suppose Barrack do then, if ya'll are so smart? And don't tell me, " Give tax breaks to the rich ", they've got enough money as it is. Hell, let's tell all these corrupt CEO's to fork over their billion $ bonuses to help pay for the deficit.

  • The economy is going to fail. We have been using fiat monetary systems and it is catching up. We have to let the market operate freely and thus correct itself. Republicans don't want this either, they want to spend spend spend too. We have to get rid of ALL unavoidable taxes and stop policing the world on the concept that we are securing our liberties.

  • Didn't Senator Burr vote for the TARP. Now he wants to be a conservative.

  • I can't tell you how angry it made me when my own state's senator voted for TARP. Anyways he came to his senses and voted against the Obama, Pelosi, Reid Spending plan. The point is that Senator Burr's vote for TARP does not change the fact that the deficit has ALREADY DOUBLED under Barack Insane Obama. Obama complains that he inherited a trillion dollar deficit, but the spending he just put in place makes it 2 trillion with more to come. That's reality.

  • "Barack Insane Obama" It's President Obama, you may not like his politics but we should at least give him that respect. Senator Burr voted against the plan because that is what Rush and Fox News told him to do. I think that is what Republicans call a "flip flop."

  • If you watched Fox News you would know that they were against TARP. As for Rush, I don't listen to his propaganda so I do not know what he said, but I would guess that he was against it too. Most likely Bank of America and Wachovia (both in Charlotte, NC) executives, possibly RBC Centura (Raleigh, NC), and other smaller banks wanted TARP thereby influencing Burr's vote. Also, I am not a Republican. Point is Burr is now realizing the necessity of fiscal conservatism.

  • Actually, as one of his constituents, I contacted his office and expressed my desire for him to vote against it. You're right though, it is "President Obama". We don't need to start acting like Democrats here by calling the President names.

  • We've got nothing but all of these ivy league people running our country today (senators, congressmen & etc ) , people that were born with silver spoons in their mouths. These people have been well off their whole lives, they've had everything handed to them on a golden platter their entire lives. We need genuine poor people to run this country, to show you people reality. I've had to work for EVERYTHING I own. I couldn't afford college until I enlisted in the military & got the gi bill.

  • I don't know who to believe or what to think, everybody on this side's sayin' he's doing this while everybody on that side's saying he's doing that. When are you guys ever going to show proof, I mean hard proof for what your claiming that this guy is supposedly doing, give me absolute proof. You could go around preaching that the sky is falling but until you prove it with hard evidence I'll find it hard to listen to you. I'm sick of politics. I'm for who ever is actually honest and genuine.

  • Littlerockn - are you insinuating that Barak (the joke) Obama doesn't read scripts... I supposed you're just brainwashed like the rest of the welfare voters were. On a positive note, keep the video's coming Mr. Burr. It's nice hearing some common sense for a change.

  • Don't believe anything from this script reader..He is a lie..OBAMA is real..

  • a real liar The truth is in the deatils. Oboma started his down hill slide when he tried to nominate criminals for his cabinet. BAd start bad start and he hasn;t done a constructive thing yet No expereince just a talker. Just a talker.

  • Isn't this guy a republican who supported Bush deficit spending. Now that he and Bush have created a depression they are adopting Hoover economics. How ridiculous. President Obama is your president too Senator Burr - support him or you are out in 2010!

  • We Americans are spending our children's money so that we can live lavish lifestyles. I don't have a regular job, but I still demand No More Bailouts. As the Father of the Constitution James Madison said, the powers of the Federal Government are few and defined. That means that the government granting bailouts is unconstitutional and therefore illegal. And the bailouts weaken our economy by debasing the currency and decrease our national security by making us dependent on China. Stop spending!
