I have a lot of respect for this man. I loved a lot of the ideas espoused in the Bowels-Simpson plan and was heartbroken when it did not pass. There are so many more important issues facing the US than homosexuality and I firmly agree with him on his view that abortion is also a deeply personal, gut-wrenching issue. You don't just decide, "Oh hey, I really want to make things more difficult for myself." If sexuality were simply a choice, then gay people may just decide to be straight to avoid harassment. Thankfully, though, the US is becoming much more accepting and I think that it's only a matter of time before bigots like yourself become a thing of the past.

@NoRINO212: No. Domestic Partnership / Civil Unions are simply another way to discriminate against the LGBT community. If we want to make it equal - we need to apply civil unions to everyone. Make 'marriage' a purely religious thing and have it have no bearing on taxation et all and have a 'Civil Union' be the only way to get a tax break.

These are tricky waters, for those who are fiscally conservative and socially liberal.
