Help...Please send some delicious Vienna Hot dogs to southern Illinois! They don't know the meaning of a great hot dog! Walmart could not even get the Vienna company to send hot dogs to their store in Effingham. I am a native Chicagoan who has not had a decent hot dog for 16 years! Take pity on me!!

Walmart in Effingham said that a lot of people who moved there from Chicago ask for them. In fact they tried getting them from the vienna company but they said no. Maybe there is a contract w/Oscar Myer & other companies? Because when more people taste vienna doggies they will not buy the other brands. (Yes they are that good)

Aw man, give it a chance, come on. Hot Doug's is the democratization of food that is normally served in the truly bourgeois restaurants. It's a very modest, fun, inexpensive place to eat and if you patronize it a few times, he will give you discounts. In fact in my opinion, it is the ultimate anti bourgeois place...very popular with those in the music and art scene, he supports the local community. The complete antithesis to McDonalds or something like that! I assure you, its a great place.

It's the antithesis of a real hot dog joint. The sadly vanishing Chicago hot dog joint is fast and cheap. Hipsters waiting an hour in line for an $8 sausage with FUCKING FRUIT in it is not what the Chicago hot dog is about. This is not democratization, it's a museum/eulogy to the real Chicago hot dog.

@dylgsmith I understand and share your sentiment, the dog stands are vanishing because of stupid redeveloping. The waiting can get a little frustrating, but if you do sign on for that if you go. He knows he's different than other dog stands and his product is a lot different than others, and he knows that. He knows Chicago dogs can be had anywhere. It's a sausage store rather than a Chicago Dog Stand. Old fashioned dogs can be had at Gene & Judes. Doug is going against places like Portillos.
