Your statement is technically, but not quite accurate. This vid discussion was prior to his first election in 2008. He indicated since then that he was re-thinking his position and this has led to his support of gay marriage in various positions including refusal to support DOMA. He also led repeal of DADT in the military. I guess you can feel free now to support him 100% with no further criticism.
I graduated from White Station in 2005, live in Los Angeles now, but heard the great news and had to come see this video for myself. Congratulations Booker T Washington! Wow!!! This is my old high school. I graduated from BTW in '87. I grew up in south Memphis, a stone's throw from the Mississippi. I am proud to say I have roots there. BTW is a special place; an enclave surrounded by despair. BTW instilled hope and determination. I am proud to say BTW gave me the fortitude to go on and serve my country, receive a BS and MS degree in CS from the University of Alabama.
1954 Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas: A unanimous decision in regards to separate schools for black and white children as unconstitutional, Chief Justice Earl Warren stated that “separate educational facilities are inherently unequal.” It is sad to see that we have reverted back to segregated schools, but congratulations anyways your statistics do not lie.
Bravo! congratulations on winning the contest but, more importantly, on the wonderful story that is Booker T. Washington High School. Keep up the good work. I hope that you have many more successes in future years.
And the statistics in the video are awesome! BTW math test scores are 20% higher than state's. Graduation prevents increased from 55% to 82%. Percentage of students going into college increased from 2%-70% from 2005-2010! It's great to know that there are great schools like this close to home!
