Whats with youtube comments, political warzone, get a life!!! Rate the song would ya not analyse and pull apart every detail of expression... Even art school wasnt this mean. We all borrow from other cultures, how can we not in todays society as long as you use them with respect! Great song loving it.
Very cool hooky song with a clip that compliments the song and message perfectly. Good music is good music regardless of who performs it or whatever the origins. BKB work for me :)
@Cradleofman the song IS personal to Natalie - she is a WOMAN & the song is called WOMEN'S REVOLUTION! It is as much a woman's song as it is a black persons song. Tthe album is called Worldwize, & speaks of many struggles for gender, equality, the environment & activism in general. It has inspired me. I feel that the mixed race of Natalie & the various cultures she draws on for her music is a wonderful expression of our diverse world & the acceptance of the combination of cultures.
@bluekingbrownTV Lastly let me say, the uprising that is currently happening is most likely due to the condescending nature in which non black people expect Africans to 'respect and appreciate their support and involvement' in an attempt to make us forget about their constant interference and involvement that has made us one of the most disenfranchised groups of people in the globe. We do not want to be pacified or made to forget cause a muso has yet again decided they want to change the world.
@bluekingbrownTV Are more likely than not to disapprove of it. It just saddens me to see Rastafarian and black culture absorbed into the mainstream with people wearing wraps and dreads and this being misinterpreted as a fashion stance rather than a religious and cultural one. Emperor Haile Selassie may have had peaceful ideals but alot of his followers have become more radical through certain nationalist influences in hip hop and reggae music.
@bluekingbrownTV America is no longer in it's Jim Crow days and the liberation of African people now in full effect and bubbling below the surface and causing a ripple effect across the globe. I would hope a snap shot of history like the Olympic podium you mentioned would not be misunderstood to be 'respected and appreciated' today. Groups like the new black panthers, the pan Africans and TRUE Rastafarian's do not regard this coming from a non black person as a sign of respect. Rather they
@bluekingbrownTV (art is very subjective, people piss on canvasses and receive government grants for it because it is too considered 'art') I just find it laughable when someone grows their hair out and stops eating meat because they think they are sticking it 'to the man' and meanwhile their bank balance is getting bigger because they are using major corporations like radio, television etc to further their 'cause'.
@bluekingbrownTV I guess it's just tiresome to see people sing about revolution when to use the words of a great dictator : There can be no revolution without bloodshed. I myself as a person of an oppressed race would love to see nothing more than change, but it does offend my soul when I see people dilute the suffering of others by using it as a fashion trend or treating it as a bandwagon again for their benefit. I personally have no problem with musicians reaping the proceeds of their 'art'
@bluekingbrownTV I didn't make the rules on who is and who isn't considered black, I am not interested in scientific racism & as a black person I did not get to choose what I am labeled & therefore I can only defend and speak on what I know and have first hand experience with. Natalie does have a very diverse background & I never said Africans were the only people who have been oppressed rather I suggested why not draw on what you know? your music would be more convicting if it were personal.
@bluekingbrownTV Nice to see a response from a band mate and such a dignified one at that. It is only a shame it wasn't in response to the messages of praise from your fans and only to defend the fact that your trying to draw attention to a moment in history that was not yours and more so depicting Natalie who you admit is an AMERICAN woman but not an African American woman as BLACK when America's institutionalized racism is based solely on separating Americans according to their ethnicity.
And shame on Queen ifrica for entertaining your bullshit for a buck. We need to weed out the fakers who dilute our struggle. Go do something innovative instead of living off the bones of others labor.
Shame on you for using a liberation movement that didn't even include you or your people to your benefit. Firstly Natalie is not black she is a mixed Samoan how dare you wrap your hair like an African woman and pose as a black panther. You would have to be African for those things to be relevant to you. Revolution is not for posers. And don't disrespect REAL black peoples plight with having white men throw up a black power fist which was a sign of resisting them. Freedom of speech, do not delete
this song reminds me of GTA San Andreas!!! thumbs up if u agree!
