@sharpshooterx4 When a new undetectable drug comes out that can dramatically enhance your performance (like EPO in the 90's), then we will see this record fall
@Jeremiahking101 Who's comment am I copying? I thinks its fucking lame you guys go on these videos talking about how fast you apparently run. Shut the fuck up and actually do something, If you guys were really that good you we would know of you by now.
A man is breaking a most fundamental World Record; which makes it one of the most significant. And the stadium is empty... while mediocre, historically irrelevant, overpaid fools throw and kick balls in packed arenas... as a result, true sport is the loser.
Jesus Christ can we just watch the video without having people telling us their times, good for you if you can run a 4 min mile and ur still a fetus but this is the wrong place to do so try a running forum or something
so......incredible..Guerrouj runs a 206 second 1500m....divide that by 15 means running every 100m in 13.8 sec which is amazing.some of my friends cant even run a 15 second 100m yet this man can do it faster and 15 times
LMAO now everyone is a miler. A bunch of faceless people posting irrelevant times. Who the fuck cares. When they make videos of you morons running record 1500's then I'll be impressed. Hicham is a L E G E N D!!
Man, you are a retard! I dare you to release your complaints to the IAAF, you scumbag. The IOC could detect epo since 2000 and EPO is not a steroid, but you're full of it. Just SHUT UP!!!
@centrum99 Adil Kaouch? That he's a compatriot does NOT mean that he's a training partner. There's a big difference. Adil Kaouch displayed the inconsistency of a doper, hardly a big name (best result was 9th in the Olympics) before taking second in 2005 WCs/ World XC, and beating world class fields. El G consistently dominated the 1500 for almost a decade. Until any real proofs exists, he deserves the benefit of the doubt.
@frostie1315 Outside of British and American high schools the mile seems to be losing relevence by the day unfortunately. 3:26.00 is equivilent to a 3:42.27 btw.
No doubt, though, 4:15 is talented... My school's top runner is at 4:26 as a sophomore (going to be a senior) and got 5th in EBAL. Good luck with your progression :)
Fuck off m8, that in young athletes league is actually a fast record n why the fuck should I giv up running, u cant fuckin dictate me bout wiv my athletics career u twat!
If u don't believe me, phone my running coach or my grandad they'll tell ya,so get on that one ya cunt!
yeah, but i'm sure that his time wasnt 6:30 before i mean i run a 1500 in 5:15 and i know it's bad so i dont post this time on videos to if you run a 4:30 or under that, than it is a good time
Was this early/late on in Noah Negny's career when he wasn't a professional runner? even if this is true he came second (I think) and nearly broke 3:30 after setting the pace for alot of the race - which suggests that he mabye should have competed for the win.
(sorry about all the questions but id really appreciate it if someone could answer some or all of them.)
Just one more question - was that Noah Ngeny setting the pace until the final lap? If so why didnt he compete to win instead of acting as a pacemaker - he was another great runner over 1500/1 mile (he might be second fastest behind El Guerrouj in one or mabye both of the all time list and is the fastest ever man over 1000m)
1) Pacemakers have been used in Grand Prix races, i.e. Roger Bannister's sub-4 minute mile. Having somebody to follow is a psychological advantage from running at the front of a race the whole time.
2) Wind resistance may very well factor into fatigue of the front runner, which could be 1.5 times that of the trailing athlete.
3) I'm not sure why Ngeny was pacing, but he entered Rome 1999 with a PB mile of 3:50 before following El Guerrouj to second in 3:43"39.
I cant really see how cutting out what little wind resistance you would have running in a stadium at that speed would have that much difference. Is it because you dont have to worry about the pace that much and can just mentally switch off when your running behind someone?
El Guerrouj was a great runner over 1 mile and 1500 metres - even when taking into account genre, type of track etc. he might still be the best. A few questions though - it seems that the pacemakers did alot of the work in alot of his records - did previous greats have this much help - and just how much help is it? is running at the front/on your own really that much harder than running behind someone?
When i was 16, i was a 800m runner. pb 1.52.72 800m, 49.00 400m The only official 1500m i have as i never got to run the 1500m in comp was 4.12 in a club u15 match.
im 23 now, Only had 3 races after my 800m pb, Got bad back injury, miss athletics loads.
Really? I'm a pretty experienced runner but maybe you're right Jack. I mean on a world stage 4 22 isn't that quick, but i haven't heard of/know any 13 year old kids hitting times like that.

4) This was early in Ngeny's career, a full year before his great race with El Guerrouj and two before his Sydney victory.
5) His job in the race, what he was paid to do, was to be a pacesetter
YiftertheShifter1 2 years ago
Just one more question - was that Noah Ngeny setting the pace until the final lap?
