Great footage. There is something about the garbage trucks and the red dusk storm that reminds me of the film "Solyent Green". I sometimes wonder how it would look if those of us with dust storm footage, collab them together and share them, and montage them differently to tell a story. Do you ever wave to them?

Nice dust! The air quailty must be really bad right now. I like the nice new truck! Could you ask one of the nice drivers or any driver if you could put the camera in the hopper somewhere so we can have some right from the cmera action! Not from the video monitor in the cab.
I'll see what I can do, I have actually been wanting to get some live hopper action for a while of some ASL, just hard with all these safety regulations.

Question for you , that being would it be possible to get together with one of these asl drivers and mount a camera inside the hopper to show us what kind of packer, see it in action, etc? You see so many of these asl vids out there and well without saying anything more, they are all the same. Just an idea for you and by the way never experienced a dust storm, wouldn't want to be stranded some place during one!! Thanks again for the Hurstville vids!
I don't know if you have seen it yet, but I have two short videos titled "MJ Refuse Hopper Action" & "Ex-DART Hopper Action" which I snapped up when I was in Ashfield... they show some quick paddle packer action. I have been wanting to get some more live footage for a while, just haven't really gone ahead with asking drivers... especially with all these bullshit safety regulations...
I'm hoping to one day sit behind the cab of a MacDonald Johnston ASL in my council, point the camera in the hopper and watch the bins get loaded one by one. Somehow mounting the camera inside the hopper would be much easier and safer, however, I don't know where to mount it + don't want to risk losing it if you understand. Soon I will be getting a job in my council, so that will make it easier to get these videos. I agree, we really do need some different ASL action on here...
I hope in future you get a side loader MJ for your council, i think you need a truck licence first and what type of garbage would you wanna collect bottles, paper, greens or garbage?
Wow, awesome video man. i see some little differences on this truck, the nice number plates on the truck are in the middle, like the older ACCO's, and theres a different filter cap or something on the hydraulic oil tank, something that looks similar to whats on JJ's trucks. + the dust makes a cool backround haha. nice vid Mitch.
Nice one Mitch, I like the new trucks. We got the dust storm in Brisbane at 10:30am on Wednesday 23rd of September as well. Afterwards all the things outside the house a coating of dust on them and we had to clean it up, really annoying.

I don't think it's that bad for people in general, just affects asthma sufferers from what I noticed that day - they had masks on.
