  • Hey there brook.I Appreciate your enthusiasm for the job,but if I would like to suggest you might want to brush up on your english,as a good portion of fire/ems is report writing.not being mean, just saying.

  • hay check dis out im a 13 yr old girl planin on learnin how to pump trucks and wen 18 rolls around im applying for west odessa volunteer fire dept and no one at school belives i can but i do and i have some ppl tht i keep in contact with dat r appart of dat very dept im gnna join so wish me luck at reaching my goal

  • This why we train and train and train again.

  • Ok concept wise but exicution was horrible. Did this training at my station not too long ago but done at night blacked out mask other background noise and breathing the air pack. In our training all three of them would have been "killed" and the next crew would have to come save them due to not maintaing atleast one point of contact to the wall

  • those pass alarms are enough to drive you insane

  • Just curious, why doesn't that Redig guy have an SCBA tank on?

  • whats the deal with the 3rd guy, with no contact? arnt we supost to ceep contact with the wall all the time, rope line, or other fire fighter?>

  • That sound seriosly kills your ears after a while

  • we use the same bodyguard here in Hungary. it's a good staff

  • Hey.. not bad on the training.... we train so when it comes time we are ready and it should become second nature... another good training our department does quite often is we take wax paper and put it in our mask and then someone takes our pack and screws it all up... removes the bottle... messes the straps all up and then puts it in dark room and we time each other... the point of the training is to simulate that you have fallen through a floor and you have lost your scba...

  • yea, i saw it the other day too. though, im only allowed to watch because im 14 year old training to become and EMT instead. :[ my boyfriend and other guy friend did this. they did good but yet, their only a year older than myself. i guess they need more training than i do. i had more fun watching them than having a lesson on EMT class.

  • just did this the other day. way harder then it looks. could use some more communication but thats what training is for! keep up the good work!

  • CAN EVERYBODY WHO HAS DECIDED TO COMMENT SAYING SHIT ABOUT THEM CAN FUCK OFF!!!

  • Why the hell is there only one guy with an SCBA and the others not... I mean come on you need to do what would be done on a real call just because its a training dosent mean well i dont have to wear it Its called TRAINING HELLO put the dam SCBA on

  • omigosh, dont even say that. its TRAINING not real. geez. anywayz, you guys did great anywayz, you found the victim and hes...'alive' i guess i could say. done deal. i may not know much but im a junior vollentee at the Kingston Fire Department so i see alot of this training. good job guys.

  • this is horrible training...all three of you guys should be wearing packs. A mayday should also be transmitted when locating the downed firefighter. When pulling the firefighter out of the training room you need to stay low. The guy who grabbed the waist strap should be under his leg pushing by his groin area (no homo). This will keep you low and give you better leverage to push the victim while others pull the top straps of the scba. Also is the thermal camera needed. Training needs to be fixed

  • good job!!

  • When I showed up that day It seemed like a quick training I thought people would talk more about the guy in kakis lol

  • two questions guys; One, why are we not wearing airpacks? Two, is the downed firefighter found without his facepiece or are you taking it off and replacing it?

  • ive been through this same training in a blacked out maize, and we had to rescue 3" fallen" firefighters. this shit is hard but we all got to do it to be ready when the real thing comes

  • Being through the same training, I know how hard it is to work while blind. This is something we all need to keep training so it is second nature when the real thing happens. Great job and keep up the good work.

  • you guys are too hard on yourselves. dont think like that i mean, it COULD happen...right? you never know. well...i never know but, thats not the point. you guys did good and I liked it so. its fine guys. really. and, just wondering, am i the ONLY girl thats been commenting on this the entire time-especially with my retaded username. haha.

  • sucks bein the dumby in this one!

  • Sorry, This is not good training at all. The do not look organized at all. There are so many things wrong with this I don't know where to start. ***funniest thing is the instructor is carrying the TIC and the RIT bag WHY??? Should his RIT team be using those tools?

  • i did not know that. explain please! :]:}

  • he-lloo! does ANYBODY talk anymore!?

  • @satguatch Apparently not, didn't you know that having turnout gear gives you telepathic powers? ;)

  • Lt. Birk is a total douchebag

  • but anyway, i think that u guys are doing awesome. tho, i should recomend that you should always check that you have all your buds there with you, if you lose one, then thats a real problem. Sometimes u cant find them in the fire, and then, they're gone. now, i dont k this frum experience but, that one of a worres i have. like mi lil sis. whos always running around like a moron. anywayz, keep and eye on ur buds and watevs. keep me posted.

  • herbiedrumr369! dont b so horrible! let tom79g alone. i may only b 14 but still, ive been through alot of bull shit. dont put it on him. hes thu one doing thu job! :p

  • All of you monday morning quarterbacks need to look in the mirror before you bag on another fire department. They are from my city and I know many of the firefighters on this department. You are not going to find a more professional group dedicated to training. What you are watching is a 5 minute snapshot and may not be indicatative of actual fireground activity.

  • dude this is horrible 2 guys in without rit packs no hose to guide them and no tools every training should be taken serious. it could save your life and your partners one day

  • in this video they break every rule they teach in class.1. not staying in contact with each other when doing a search. 2. not staying in contact with wall or walls when searching.3 they take only a R.I.T bag with them and taking only one tool with them.

  • i agree with herbie, it is always good to practice the "What if's" as in what can happen, but realisticly when are you going to find a tangled, uncharged hose in a working fire, second of all where is the down firefighters partner in this video. i was always taught you go in together you come out together NO MATTER WHAT. i understand that sometimes you cant get out of the way of a collapse so its good to practice it but i think its better to train more on signs and symptoms to avoid this mess

  • scba "going off"going by Officer G.T. Emhert's tactics thous far,Im sure he didnt cover what all can be done when your it "goes off" OR alarms you that your air is low and time to go, so we wount get into that, Importantly, Ask "Fat Ass" to teach what hazards to watch for in a working structure, along with signs of collapse,It MIGHT be better to learn how to avoid it vs. what it feels like. AGAIN i say this was not against you but for you. If this is what you want 2 do,please join another Dept.

  • Again this isnt your fault, atleast your participating and tryin to better your skills, but if this is how its taught on to you all then your in a loosing battle.Blackout the mask, so why wait till dark? and turn the lights off,( S&R or Ghost stories?) this makes it darker? The tangled line to follow--when it comes time to "follow a line" it better be charged, not tangled,If a situation has it where you lost and found the line ,feel the couplings as the "female"side leads you out (back to eng) 2of 3

  • Tom79g ?? First off i mean no offense to you personally, Im wondering how long you have been training / doing this job? As i feel it isnt right no bust out a negative to someone participating in classes and training,SO please share the rest of this with the class A idiot they made "Training Officer" , Im sorry but what you described is by far the most idiotic shit Ive ever heard of,sounds like a bunch of guys horsing off, that get assigned to the back lined eng. that dosent turn a wheel. 1of3

  • We do this same training but we'll do it when it gets dark outside then we turn off the lights we blast the radio inside we blackout our masks we tangle up a hose all over the ground and try to follow it and we have the scba going off and occasionally well do it with some fat ass in the department falling on top of us acting like theres a roof comming down

  • im INLOVE with firefighting training stuff. you know wat i mean. u guys are all probably 21 year old guys, im 14. and obviously a girl. I know it seems kinda wierd that a girl would b interesting in firefighting or paramedic stuff but, i am. I wanna b a surgen wen im older then a paramedic. and rescue 911 is thu most awesomest show in thu world!! luuuv it! by thu way, awesome training guys. Ill chest thu comments in a week. byeeezz!

  • nice training... ;-)

  • im in the academy right now. and everyday all we hear is SHAKE! those damn pass device haha. at least we know its loud as shit so IF we need it we got it! good work guys

  • look at those shiny new helmets...

  • im guessing these are probies? i know in some depts, black helmets are probies but i could be wrong..keep up the training guys and be safe!!

  • omigod thats kewl. i dont care if its just practice, its just awesome!! I luv watching firefighters preform rescues. I watch Rescue 911 all thu time, that probably explains alot!

  • Is that show still on?

  • No, Rescue 911 was discontinued but you can still watch most of the episodes on youtube. Search "Rescue 911" you'll get hundreds of episodes.

  • Yeah, I pulled up some vids I watched as a kid, but thanks for the tip. I thought from one of the other comments on here it was still on somewhere. Peace bro.

  • HAHA..Rescue 911 is some old school..good show tho

  • kill the pass device!

  • Kill the pass device? The pass is part of training..in a building full of smoke, if there was a down fire fighter, how would you find him/her? im guessing your not a Firefighter.

  • Correct, we leave them on because in the real deal, there is a lot of noise from the fire as well as the pass device. Its basically real world training. I worked the RAT on a structure fire when a mayday was called and this traing came in handy. We got the guys out and located them quickly thanks to LUNAR and PASS. Team work and training!

  • holy crap someone kill that pass

  • Lt. Birk is a douchebag

  • wow dont u guys know how to follow the leader guy # 3 with the RITpack is like completely lost in the beginning u need communication and some serious leadership

  • were would u go to become recuted

  • Not knocking the training but one guy with a tool? How about the second guy with the axe that can complement the haligan if need to breach. Again not knocking the training, like someone said we all need it.

  • or the 3rd guy with the RIT pack, but no scba and they're not even at least in the dark if your not going to back out the masks... once again not knocking the training like you said just making observation to make it better

  • Lt. Birk is my hero!!! 5 years of working slow houses and he is instantly promoted over senior guys because he is a college educated computer whiz!!! Gotta love the modern fire service.

  • You need active communication between the firefighters that are searching. Also you have to keep in constant physical contact with one another. Where are their tools ? A RIT bag alone is not enough. What if they have to pry a stuck door open to get him out ? Keep training guys. We all need it.

  • Why is the training officer not saying anything about staying together? They're going for one firefighter down in real life if they continue training like this.

  • They're searching WAY too slow

  • But thats why we train brother, we get better and faster with practice!

  • why is the third guy not with the group...this would never happen in a real situation i hope.....

  • I find this video very interesting and a very good learning/teaching video. Just a reminder of what a real situation could be and you can never get too much training in. Keep up the good work and thank you for serving.

  • most of you left gay comments your probably not even firefighters you just sit here and watch our videos and you love it haha

  • so your a firefighter? can somebody with a G.E.D become a firefighter?

  • i hope so..

  • Yes sir, well depends on the dept, in KY requirements are: HS diplomaOR GED, 21 years of age, and a valid drivers license. Check with your local fire station or go to your local city gov't building.

  • thats odd that the last guy on the team dosent have an SCBA on. when ever my dpt does firefighter down we all wear one and carry all RIT gear in even when we are just training.

  • that noise gets 2 me ever time i hear it

  • Could be a number of reasons there arnt packs on all of them. This may not be an actual RIT or Firefighter class, perhaps in house training. If its a volly service they could be giving non-SCBA certified personel a taste of training. I used to do it alot before I was even Firefighter-1. Could also be why they are taking so long. I think this is more in house than it is a class.

  • jus wonderin how many of u lot are actualy fire fighters?

  • you mine as well practice rescuing 4 guys at that rate

  • theyr blind bolded

  • Taking tooooo long probies lets move it Houston Fire baby

  • he for ref the last guy wit the FAST BAG is suppose 2 be along wit the team not left that far behind

  • Yeah for a good simulation all should have an scba or something to simulate that encumberance that will really be experinced on the fire ground

  • Just wondering why only one of the 3 "rescuers" is wearing an air pack. Its obviously supposed to be a toxic enviroment. Train like you work!

  • well one has a pac, the other is breathing off of one of those R.I.T. fast packs. i cant explain the third

  • The guy with the rit pack isnt breathing off of it hes just carrying it

  • yea your right.lol. maybe ask the guy who filmed the video?

  • i can think of a few reasons. if this is a volly department (or even a small paid department) they may not have a cascade, so they might not be able to risk emptying 3 bottles, depending on how far/how often they can get them filled. also (as someone else posted) these might be non-SCBA certified firefighters (or auxiliary members) and some of the fully certified firefighters are giving them a taste of "real" firefighting. just my two cents...but you're right if you can TRAIN LIKE YOU WORK!!
