The music with the chanting in my opinion just sounds better and I dont give a shit about all that reference crap, just sit back and appreciate Ocarina of Time for what it is and shut the fuck up with useless over sensitivity and all that cultural horseshit. Its just a video game, quit wasting your time people
I'd like to point out something: To anyone who thinks the music was changed because of an outcry, it wasn't. Nintendo PREEMPTIVELY changed the soundtrack, so no, the Islamic community wasn't offended, so whatever Nintendo did, it was their decision.
I have a copy of version 1.1 and it still has the chants in it, unedited, the only differences between 1.1 and 1.0 is a few glitches were fixed, everything else is the same including ganondorf having red blood
my cartridge was grey and was the uncut version. funny I never realized this until coming to this video from watching SNES top gear vidz lol. My Majora's Mask cartridge was gold tho
wow... I never noticed the ground is a lil more red in 1.0
Theres also a text cutoff error in 1.0 with one of the twin guys at the tree when your an adult in kakariko village. You know the first tree when you enter with those 2 dancing loons? speak to the one on the right and his sentence has a text spacing all the way down and breaking off the text bubble itself.
i thought there was something really different about the music... i played the 1.0 a long time ago and stayed away from the fire temple with glitches in a different copy and i went in there and i was like >.> this music doesnt sound familiar... wasnt there a longer version or something or some weird noise in the background XD
On top of that, they make the song eerie and scary. It's just not nice. Love the game, and I have the original version with this music, this symbol, and red blood. Am glad they changed it.
It would've been better just to avoid controversy. They knew what they were doing and continued with it anyway. Nintendo can't honestly say that they didn't do it on purpose to use the Islamic symbol in these areas.
Definitely not appropriate to chant "Allah" in the Fire Temple, either. It can be taken two ways - Gorons are asking God to save them, or some unknown entity is chanting and saying that the Islamic God is Lucifer. Would've been best avoided.
The main issue is that they have the Fire Temple song which oddly sounds like an Islamic chant to God; it's like saying Muslims worship Satan because fire represents the Djinns (of which Lucifer is part.)
And to put the Mirror Shield with that symbol in the desert with women dressed like that is only being stereotypical. It's obvious Nintendo was getting too Islam vs. Christian in the game (with Link representing Christianity, as seen in older versions with the cross +)
@PenguSan The song is just for fitting the "Temple" type. Though your theory is probably right, temple music usually would be like this. (if there actually WAS music in the background)
@PenguSan But if Link was representing Christianity, why would he be wearing the mirror shield? Originally the mirror shield had a reversed Crescent and star, which is symbolic of many Islamic countries. This could just as easily be interpreted as Link delivering Islam from evil (the fire temple).
You could even say that Ganon, being Gerudo himself, fell away from the rest of the Gerudos, and could be interpreted as falling away from Islam, and thus becoming evil.
Something very strange about my Ocarina of Time cartridge...firstly I got it in the late 90's and it was used.
It's a gray cartridge with a relatively blank Gold sticker with the logo, but it has all the v1.0 features, like Ganon coughs red blood, the Gerudo symbols are the Crescent moons, and the Fire Temple track has the Arabic chanting...
...yet I read all v1.0 cartridges are the gold cartridges. Do I have something unique?
also dude, its cool not AN INSULT( in a gay old lady like sarcastic voice) , its only that theres some lifeless religious 60 years old bastards that have nothing more to do than to play games made for 10 years old childs that hate people and want to call someones attention or just suck the life out of you, its a stupid game morons, i know muslims friends that thnk its cool, but noooo.... its and insult( again... in agay sarcastic old lady like voice), i swear those persons make me so f-ing angry
@roberto123422 ya im muslim i didnt find it insulting but i just hate how they put it in the fire temple like there relating fire=hell to our religion i think it would have been better in the water temple or somthing besides the fire temple
dude my catridge is silver and i can sware the chanting is as in the 1.0 version, and ganons blood also appears red, as for the shield i dont remember, thruth is i dont give a damn if its a satr or a moon, their both gay :(
wait a second,is it me or in the shield you are wearing, the mirror shield, isn't there a crescent moon with a star?isn't that the insignia muslims have?Correct me if im wrong.Kinda weird they have that there..... creepy
wait a second,is it me or in the shield you are wearing, the mirror shield, isn't there a crescent moon with a star?isn't that the insignia muslims have?Correct me if im wrong.Kinda wierd they have that there
@burnedelitefish yea youre correct and they change it just because to avoid that the islam dont feet ofended or something like that. i read it. my cousins have this version of zelda on their 64 im still remember the mirror shield..this version of zelda on the wii virtual console the mirror shield have another simbol..and thats sucks
@ultracheater1 well im muslim call of duty didnt offend me i love call of duty yes they kind of over did it but since the story was some how related and true i didnt mind cuz it happend and there re telling the story
as far as I know, all N64 versions have the crescent version of the mirror shield/blocks/spirit temple. it is only in subsequent re-releases (like for the Wii virtual console, or Master Quest on the gamecube) that the symbol changed
the chanting and blood colour do of course differ over the n64 versions
In version 1.0, when you slash at Ganon's head in the final fight, he bleeds red.
In version 1.1, when you slash at Ganon's head in the final fight, he bleeds the color of the tunic that you are currently wearing.
In version 1.2, when you slash at Ganon's head in the final fight, he bleeds green no matter what.
The easiest way to find out what version of the game you have is to wear a blue tunic as you are slashing at Ganon. If his blood is red, you have v1.0; blue, v1.1; green, v1.2.
@soccerkid94 Lol finding out if your game is V1.0 by beating Ganon? I think it would be much faster if they just listened to the music of the fire temple, if chanting is removed then you might as well do the Ganon thing to find out if it's 1.1 or 1.2
@soccerkid94 Another good way to find out if you have a 1.0 cartridge is to check out the spinning "N64 Logo" that appears right after you power up the game. if it's super shiny, bright, and holograpic looking and the logo spins faster than normal it's version 1.0. both my Gold "Collector's Edition" and grey cartridges have the same super shiny, bright, and holograpic look and the N64 logo spins faster so both are 1.0.
@soccerkid94 Also another way to check if you have version 1.0 is after your done freeing all the carpenters from Gerudo Fortress the female Gerudo member who gives you a membership card as a reward will wear the same color as the tunic your wearing. your wearing green tunic, so does she. you switch to red tunic, so will she, you switch to blue tunic, so will she. in versions 1.1 and 1.2 she only wears red clothing no matter what color tunic you have on and switch to.
@Diegobrandan15 Yeah some grey cartridges exist out there that have version 1.0, the very same as the Gold "Collector's Edition" cartridge. they're super rare to find. i have one.
Ive got a grey that has the fire temple chant. I havent' got to ganon yet to see about the blood, but is there anyway i can check to see what version mine is?
was v 1.0 in gold ONLY? Or were there silver versions of it? Cause my friend has a silver OOT cartridge but it has all the symbols on blocks and switches and music right and i think it has ganons red blood
@TheDreamingSongbird This is true but if you go inside Dampe's grave (when your racing him for the Hookshot) and look closely you'll still be able to see a bunch of Cresent Moon & Star symbols on the ceilings. this i'm talking about is in both the Gamecube and Virtual Console releases. whoever worked on fixing this version for release on the Gamecube and Virtual Console was'nt paying attention very well because he/she forgot to remove them before they mastered the disc lol. they're still there.
can someone help me? im trying to figure out which version of OoT i have, i noticed that i have the v1.1 code, but i have all the v1.2 features in it (such as the chanting in the fire temple removed, and gannon coughing up green blood) and i read that v1.1 still had the chanting and the red blood, but mine has them removed... :P
this is gonna make me look like a no life but i looked up information and it sed that the chanting and blood was removed in 1.2 and the only thing removed in 1.1 was two glitches
@MarcusFen2008 V1.1 had no chanting, and blood depending on the tunic color, v1.2 had all these removed, and v1.0 had nothing uncut. You have v1.1 I believe, but I didn't think V1.2 were on N64 carts, maybe I'm wrong... try putting on the blue tunic and killing Ganon and seeing if the blood if blue, if it is, it's a V1.1 :) which if it's N64, it has to be that. The chants were removed in V1.1 sadly, but the moon & star crescent is still in there. So try the blue tunic idea. ;)
It sounds like all they removed was the chanting voice, and they changed the Shield. The moon with the Star/Sun on the shield is nice, if it had red and white stripes, I'd think it was a Malaysia flag shield :) It's a nice place to visit but Hyrule is closer :)
I now have the right to call you the aforementioned term, but I forgive ya. ha ha I used to think it was spelled that way 'cause when people say it angrily, they're like, "RE-TAR-TED"
@nygma619 because if I am not mistaken, this is the call to prayer (adhan) which is very holy to Muslims. The fact that Nintendo used holy verses in an unholy game is somewhat sacrilegious.
@nygma619 it is offensive because if I am not mistaken, there are bits of the call to prayer (the adhan). The adhan is very holy in Islam and it was being used in an unholy and entertaining manner in the game. That is sacrilegious.
@nygma619 Did you actually enjoy that "music" though. It seemed to be out of place to being with. And even though it vaguely sounded like it, it was enough to get those select few individuals to get riled up. I don't have a problem with it, but if someone speaks out against it and has a legitimate reason then respect their wishes
@TacticalShinobi Yes I did enjoy it. The music added a sort of spiritualistic atmosphere to this temple. Something like a sort of voodoo doctor or indian tribe performing a ritual but in a larger place. IMO it added to the theme of Ganondorf planning to feed the Gorons to the dragon Volvagia. And THAT being a ritual of sorts.
Also the only way, they have a legitimate critiicism is if the chanting ACTUALLY IS Islamic, NOT if it JUST SOUNDED LIKE IT. But it's Nintendo, so they wimped out.
@nygma619 But that is where you are wrong. It is Islamic and has some sort of religious significance. All I said was that it might sound like the adhan, and if I'm not mistaken I can hear the beginning of it in the video...
@TacticalShinobi Through out this whole thing you haven't said one word about it actually being islamic (let alone being able to prove it). Neither have said anything about it sounding adhan UNTIL NOW.
The reason I got the vibe that the tone came across like a ritual sort of sacrifice by a tribe was due to the chanting, the designs on the walls, AND the fact that the mini bosses in this temple were "fire dancers". It's NOT THAT HARD to add THOSE up & figure out what they were going for.
@nygma619 no actually I mentioned that there was a part of the adhan in my second response, but it didn't seem to link. So actually I did mention that part of it was holy.
And it seems a tad bit hard for me to add those up...
What do ritualistic sacrificing and fire dancers have to do with Islam again?
you could have gone somewhere without lava?

@MarcusFen2008

this is gonna make me look like a no life but i looked up information and it sed that the chanting and blood was removed in 1.2 and the only thing removed in 1.1 was two glitches
MarcusFen2008 2 years ago

The moon with the Star/Sun on the shield is nice, if it had red and white stripes, I'd think it was a Malaysia flag shield :) It's a nice place to visit but Hyrule is closer :)

they removed the chanting because of religous purposes which is retarted

@supermario1232 ...you spelled "retarded" wrong.
I now have the right to call you the aforementioned term, but I forgive ya. ha ha I used to think it was spelled that way 'cause when people say it angrily, they're like, "RE-TAR-TED"
akpokemon 8 months ago
@supermario1232 From a Muslim's standpoint, no it isn't retarded.

@TacticalShinobi In what way is THIS offensive to them?
nygma619 8 months ago
@nygma619 because if I am not mistaken, this is the call to prayer (adhan) which is very holy to Muslims. The fact that Nintendo used holy verses in an unholy game is somewhat sacrilegious.

@nygma619 it is offensive because if I am not mistaken, there are bits of the call to prayer (the adhan). The adhan is very holy in Islam and it was being used in an unholy and entertaining manner in the game. That is sacrilegious.
TacticalShinobi 8 months ago
@nygma619 If I'M not mistaken. The chanting was said to only sound "VAGUELY" like it. But not actually being IT.
nygma619 8 months ago
@nygma619 Did you actually enjoy that "music" though. It seemed to be out of place to being with. And even though it vaguely sounded like it, it was enough to get those select few individuals to get riled up. I don't have a problem with it, but if someone speaks out against it and has a legitimate reason then respect their wishes
TacticalShinobi 8 months ago
@TacticalShinobi Yes I did enjoy it. The music added a sort of spiritualistic atmosphere to this temple. Something like a sort of voodoo doctor or indian tribe performing a ritual but in a larger place. IMO it added to the theme of Ganondorf planning to feed the Gorons to the dragon Volvagia. And THAT being a ritual of sorts.
Also the only way, they have a legitimate critiicism is if the chanting ACTUALLY IS Islamic, NOT if it JUST SOUNDED LIKE IT. But it's Nintendo, so they wimped out.
nygma619 8 months ago
@nygma619 But that is where you are wrong. It is Islamic and has some sort of religious significance. All I said was that it might sound like the adhan, and if I'm not mistaken I can hear the beginning of it in the video...
TacticalShinobi 8 months ago
@TacticalShinobi Through out this whole thing you haven't said one word about it actually being islamic (let alone being able to prove it). Neither have said anything about it sounding adhan UNTIL NOW.
The reason I got the vibe that the tone came across like a ritual sort of sacrifice by a tribe was due to the chanting, the designs on the walls, AND the fact that the mini bosses in this temple were "fire dancers". It's NOT THAT HARD to add THOSE up & figure out what they were going for.
nygma619 8 months ago
@nygma619 no actually I mentioned that there was a part of the adhan in my second response, but it didn't seem to link. So actually I did mention that part of it was holy.
And it seems a tad bit hard for me to add those up...
What do ritualistic sacrificing and fire dancers have to do with Islam again?
TacticalShinobi 8 months ago
@TacticalShinobi They don't hence why I said people worshiping the islamic religion were taking things the wrong way.
nygma619 8 months ago
@supermario1232 Or they are too stupid to do a music like that and remove it slyly
