  • what about battery life?

  • how much cache does this have? ie: 32MB or 64MB

  • sick i have the same monitor as you! LOL nice im going to be getting the 128 version!

  • I have this SSD (patriot 64GB V2) and it works really really good!

  • Well.

    Works well.

    :P

  • I have included all possible fixes into my system right after installation of fresh system and this Patriot is still the worst drive ever.

Prefetch is off, virtual memory as well, browser's cache is moved to ram-disk, additional disk cache is enabled and still it works like crap. It often freezes my system totally and it takes ages to install anything. Also maximum read speed is nowhere near promised 175MB/s.

DON'T EVER CONSIDER BUYING THIS PIECE OF CRAP!!!

  • Check the AnandTech review of SSD's. Patriot uses the JMicro controller wich drops to 20 kBps random writes once the disk get used. Yes, 20 KILO bytes per second, 5000 times SLOWER than advertised. The JMicro controller is crap. Buy the OCZ VERTEX which uses the IndiLink controller and actually outperforms the Intel X25-M on some benchmarks. Take the Patriot back -- it will NEVER work. Buy the OCZ Vertex and make sure you have firmware version 1275 or newer.

  • v2 warp I totally agree is a piece of shit. Do yourself a favor and light your money on fire. I am on my 2nd one. Warranty swap. When you first get it it will be fast. Once you have used it awhile and the flash cells need to be rewritten you are screwed. It all turns to shit. Patriot know they suck but they will only swap out your unit for another shit of the same model. v3 + I think has flashable firmware.

  • Great test! Thanks :) Now... am running to the shop to get Patriot ^_^ especially that I found it for quite decent price :)

  • cb butters: I have the Asus 1000he netbook; essentially the same thing as the 1000. My question: how is the battery life using the SSD versus the hard drive included with the Asus? Did you notice any improvements with the SSD in terms of battery life?

  • Do NEVER buy this patriot's piece of crap! It's much slower than my 3yo 7,200 2,5" HDD and it takes ages to install anything. During instalation your PC will get almost frozen. It's the worst drive I've ever had!

  • these are a lot more reliable meaning u can shake, smash, drop, and wit wont have any problems like scratching/corrupting an hdd.

  • god, waste my time already. who wants to see you putting the thing in? why the hell would i want to see this in a laptop? everyone wants to see it compete against a velociraptor, jesus!

  • I wish someone would make a video like this in a desktop.

  • Any problems while doing heavy multiple read and write? I heard that SSD often suffers from that...

  • yeah these benchmarks are worthless... "quick" is not a valid benchmark...

Especially when Vista will pre-load apps and software into RAM on boot... we have no idea what you've actually done -- or how long you've had Vista on this drive (and done dry runs) prior to recording this demo.

  • cbutters:

I just picked up a used 64gb Patriot SSD v2 for $120. Guy got rid of his laptop and sold this separately. Are ALL Asus eeepc's able to take the Patriot SSD's? Thanks in advance!

  • ATTO results are worse then WD740adfd raptor, but.... access time and IO perfomance is better. Overall perfomance is much lower then MemoRight GT MR25.2-064S has.

  • uhm, please don´t forget the price of a memoright gt mr ssd. they cost 10x more than the OCZ...

  • TO MR plokko1

i didn t do any test yet and if you re not happy with what i said. then go buy one and do the test. otherwise shut up if you got nothing good to say.

  • u suxx,u must test with a decent pc and benchmark tools like iometer etc.!

    this tests are worthless!

  • Affordable, impressive SSD. Good quality review also. I wonder how OCZ V2 would compare?

  • i bought one too 2 day ago. it s AWESOME it s so much faster. Thx for that video. it took me 17 minutes to load a fresh copy of vista. Boot time 13 secondes.

  • You can upgrade the EEE HD w/o voiding the warranty?

  • if you watch my video carefully, the warranty sticker is intact on my cover, I don't think changing the HDD voids the warranty anyways though.

  • I have to remove warranty sticker on my Acer laptop to replace the HDD ;_;

  • Thanks for the review, I just bought one :D.

  • its not worth $280...

  • its only $180

  • good review !!! would you say that the SSD is two times faster than EEE hard drive ?

  • awesome thanks
