I'm a teen in the US but i lived in England when i was younger, and iv grown up with my older brothers' tastes. instead of Jo*a* Brot*e*s, Green Day, Fall Out Boy, Lil Wayne, Lady Gaga, Paramore, and Slipknot, I listen to bands such as Oasis, Snow Patrol Muse,Coldplay, u2, and Radiohead and other bands from across the pond and 1/2 the bands i tell ppl at school they look at me completely gormless but there are still some of us out there that' ve got descent taste :-)
I think it's embarassing how bad most American music is. My top 5 favorite artists are Oasis, Snow Patrol, Coldplay, The Who, and The Beatles. All from the UK.
I'm not American myself but my God you lot produced some absolutely amazing music. It may appear that this music is slowly dying out but If you look carefully it's still there,it's just more underground than it used to be
America, The UK and Ireland really are the leaders of music
Yeah, some good American bands (to me) are The Goo Goo Dolls for this era. And then for older times there's Springsteen, Tom Petty, etc. But they just don't compare to Oasis, The Who, Queen, etc.
try and keep in mind that here hanna montana and the johnass brothers both outsold U2 this year. Oasis Did in fact sell out a 2009 tour. but so did buddy guy and no one knows who is he here either.
if you want something to compare it to. Paul Mccartney's 2007 tour sold out the largest venues in the country and then this album didn't get a single play on the radio at all. i totally agree they owned us for about a year here but champagne supernova was a larger hit than don't walk away in anger.
speaking as an american living in the "american idol" era i can say i feel lucky that any real band still exists at all. we are becoming a country that thinks of 14 year old girls as real musicians.
and they don't have any fans left in the USA but it's not their fault. they came along right about the time MTV was changing from real music to RAP. here in the states we got ( whats the story morning glory) and i can't say i ever heard them again.

On the bright side, if they had failed to crack America, why do they go out there and do sell tours and have crazed fans screaming outside their hotel? Robbie Williams tried and failed to get that US following. So did bands like Keane.

To be fair, Definitely Maybe era Oasis and present day Oasis are very different. One was full of vigour, great tunes, and proved pretty influential to indie music and british music as a whole (Oasis had a rightful claim to be one of THE bands of the 90s). The present day band is, I agree with you, largely mediocre with boring songs and a lack of innovation, and miles behind their former self. Out of interest, if you hate the band, why make the effort to search for their video and watch it?!

I'm a teen in the US but i lived in England when i was younger, and iv grown up with my older brothers' tastes. instead of Jo*a* Brot*e*s, Green Day, Fall Out Boy, Lil Wayne, Lady Gaga, Paramore, and Slipknot, I listen to bands such as Oasis, Snow Patrol Muse,Coldplay, u2, and Radiohead and other bands from across the pond and 1/2 the bands i tell ppl at school they look at me completely gormless but there are still some of us out there that' ve got descent taste :-)

Yeah, some good American bands (to me) are The Goo Goo Dolls for this era. And then for older times there's Springsteen, Tom Petty, etc. But they just don't compare to Oasis, The Who, Queen, etc.

try and keep in mind that here hanna montana and the johnass brothers both outsold U2 this year. Oasis Did in fact sell out a 2009 tour. but so did buddy guy and no one knows who is he here either.
if you want something to compare it to. Paul Mccartney's 2007 tour sold out the largest venues in the country and then this album didn't get a single play on the radio at all. i totally agree they owned us for about a year here but champagne supernova was a larger hit than don't walk away in anger.

speaking as an american living in the "american idol" era i can say i feel lucky that any real band still exists at all. we are becoming a country that thinks of 14 year old girls as real musicians.
and they don't have any fans left in the USA but it's not their fault. they came along right about the time MTV was changing from real music to RAP. here in the states we got ( whats the story morning glory) and i can't say i ever heard them again.

Nah, they are still trying had to make a bigger impact over there mate. Opening Oasis themed hotels in Vegas? Liam even visits Yoko Ono in New York with his long hair and Lennon glasses, as he knows that it will attract the US media.
On the bright side, if they had failed to crack America, why do they go out there and do sell tours and have crazed fans screaming outside their hotel? Robbie Williams tried and failed to get that US following. So did bands like Keane.

I find it annoying that American Talk Shows never interview their musical guests. Instead they do stupid interviews with lame B-list flash-in-the-pan truly personality devoid actors.

because i find them to be unoriginal, overrated and extremely repetetive. (ex. the choruses to this, "slide away" and "stop crying your heart out" greatly resemble each other) also the gallaghers are egotistical pricks who constantly diss other artists including radiohead and coldplay. i tend to favor artists who constantly evolve their sound like the beatles, pink floyd, radiohead, U2 and TV on the radio- a very underrated band. so....there you go.

To be fair, Definitely Maybe era Oasis and present day Oasis are very different. One was full of vigour, great tunes, and proved pretty influential to indie music and british music as a whole (Oasis had a rightful claim to be one of THE bands of the 90s). The present day band is, I agree with you, largely mediocre with boring songs and a lack of innovation, and miles behind their former self. Out of interest, if you hate the band, why make the effort to search for their video and watch it?!

Most of the songs are hard rock ballads, like something about getting out of town and start a new life etc, most of them just happens to be about real life and common feelings. Some songs are confusing, first album was about being penniless on the dole and on drugs
