  • @MrRaksasok With a new MacBook Air you can use the recovery partition. If you need your own DVD, I believe you will need to purchase a copy from the app store..

  • so i can get a friend ho has lion to do that and i can set it in my new mac ind install it for free??? pleaseee answer

  • If I buy a new macbook pro, will this work as a general boot disk for the who O.S.? sorry, im new to mac

  • @dandan832 no this is just to create an installer on a DVD. For example, if you get a new HDD

  • @wwcomputerrepair so how can i restore my mac if i get a new one and it doesnt have a boot disk?

  • @dandan832 If you don't have a DVD drive, use my tutorial on how to make a USB drive installer.

  • @wwcomputerrepair I saw that too, but you only show how to do it if you download the OS. What if i purchase a new macbook pro and it is preinstalled, will i be able to do this?

  • @dandan832 Not sure. Maybe if you activate your Mac with your Apple ID.

  • @wwcomputerrepair Alright thanks man, i actually found a link to how to make a backup to a flash/hard drive. Thanks for the help.

  • @dandan832 ok no problem.

  • If I buy a new macbook pro, will this work as a general boot disk for the who O.S.? sorry, im new to mac

  • @wwcomputerrepair

Love the intro, what kind of mac do you have?

  • @cliffjumpingisfun I have a MacBook Pro and several Hackintoshs and Zach has a Hackintosh.

    -Bryan

  • why do you have to start your computer and press option. Can't you just plug in the cd and install it like that? I only ask because I tried and the installer opened up

  • @MrPantherBear Yes but if you want to boot it to install it on a blank hdd.

  • thanks dude!!! so helpful!!!

  • Nice intro Brian

  • Will this DVD boot disk, when inserted to another Mac, ask for an iTunes password?

  • @james95121 It will boot and no password required. Just like the classic OS X DVDs

  • it looks simple in the video.... except the install mac app is not in my applications folder and i can't find it using spotlight. i'm already running lion now, so maybe it's too late to do after it's installed.

  • @norlundc The installer deletes it when it installs on the volume it is located on. You can just re-download it by visiting the purchases tab of the Mac App Store.

  • @wwcomputerrepair i googled and figured out if anyone wants to re-download the app from the app store, you hold down option key and click purchases in mac app store app. this allows to download again. i wish apple made this easier, but maybe it's a business move on their part.

  • @norlundc Or just click the install button in the purchases window.

  • @wwcomputerrepair cant do that, it's grayed out

  • @norlundc option clicking seems to work, i'm redownloading it now.

  • @norlundc Even if you downloaded it sometimes you still cannot download again -- as I found out the hard way.

Apple has taken a HUGE leap backwards with their stupid elimination of DVDs. It's like being thrust back into the complex installation era of Mac OS 6 or Windows 3.1. For what? Just to save a damn $1 for not including a DVD? Ridiculous!!

  • Is your name Bryan? So is mine XD
