@expired8 I keep hearing other people suggest this for stuff from funimation. If you have Firefox, use the adblocker add-on. Personally, I just sit through the commercials, so I can't vouch for this ad-ons effectiveness. Other people say it works for them, though.

lol, couldn't be further from the truth XD The style of the characters really makes it seem like a lighter type of story, but then you're like... "gosh this is so dark and depressing D: " and you feel even more disturbed by the english cast (which is mostly popular 4kids cameo's) but don't worry, there's a happy ending in all this madness =3 (Sorry for the long comment :'D)
if you are going to watch berserk after seeing thing you will be traumatized I suggest a happier anime after you are done with this like friuts basket or azumanga daioh. Then berserk
@SELJ75 Well yeah, but when I saw the show's ending I kinda got that whole "They dealt with so much, and yet, it seems like everything's gonna be okay for them after all", kind of vibe.
The ending felt more like Spirited Away, a life changing experience, nothing will ever be the same, to kinda quote Lord of the Files "The loss of innocence to the darkness of mans heart." Though to quote a comment "This is a story about finding happiness and optimism even in the most horrible of situations." I do agree with that statement, but I don't think everything will be okay, they just can't be after living though that.
@SELJ75 I know you're only joking, but no, I'm not "wrong", seeing as how I enjoyed the show in the way in which it was presented, I'm allowed to use my own personal, mental filter in order to interpret the message in any way I want :) Everyone who watches a series is going to take away something different from it, that's just human nature. It's what lets us create different things even with the same exact influences. I could go on, but I think that you understand what I meant.
It does start off like that though. But this is very bleack, depressing, and dark. Shu's optomisium is the only hope in such a dark and gloomy series. But after it's all said and done it's a very uplifting series. Just don't watch too many episodes in a row, you will lose sleep over it. I did once...it's that depressing
Yeah it's best to offset this one with a comedy, else you too will become filled with depression. It's an amazing series. quite powerful. Amazing how a "cartoon" can do that sometimes ;) .
