This reminds me of the duck my nephew just found....We found a baby mallard at the campground we go camping at.....it mother abandoned it because it was smaller than the other ducks and couldn't keep up. When my nephew brought him to my camper the baby couldn't even stand. We nursed it back to health and now he/she is starting to grow in its feathers

Are you keeping it? I also have a baby mallard duckling that was on the side of the street in front of my house scared to death after his mommy got hit by a car. Shes doing great and we love her and want to keep her. We understand what is needed to raise a duck but it is illegal to keep mallard ducks. Do you know how to get around this?

@candylei05 it depends. a domestic duck is legal,and the way to forge domesticism is to clip the nails on the back of the leg. also, you have to buy a bird band to band it. I never said anything.

I found one baby duck egg cold and away from its nest. I heated the egg and it hatched thinking I was its mommy or daddy or whatever. I put it in a deep swimming pool and it follows me and my sister on the street and in the water and it is 3 and a half days old

@tanbabycakes before they get waterlogged....but i wouldnt let him stay in to long or he would die.. becuase he doesnt have the oil from his mom becuase you took him from the nest.. that was a good thing i think but illegal too

@pokemonmaster123r He never got "waterlogged" and grew up to be a fully functioning adult. I didnt take him from the nest, he was found in a storage unit by himself. So yes I'm selfish to let him just die out there but in return he has a nice life with other ducks

@tanbabycakes that was a good thing u did for saving him i would of done the same without my parents knowing but he must of been relly happy with u instead of dying becuase his momma left him probably becuase he was late.. i did the same with my fenale cayuga she hatched 12 but 1 one was late and i saved him but he got picked on....... and got killed by his mother for trying to be with her..... :'(
