Maybe in a future episode we'll hear about how it's really warm at the top of mountains because it's closer to the sun or the reason for seasonal changes on the earth is determined by how close the earth is to the sun.
How is there even a professional debate on whether a full moon does anything to us? The full moon has no relationship to the distance it is from earth, which would be the only thing that would affect us. We could have a full moon when it was the furthest from earth in it's orbit. The pull that moon causes on earth happens two times a day, not once every month.
Okay, is proximity too elementary a factor in judging the moon's size on the horizon vs. in the sky? Or it just has nothing to do with proximity at all?
@dangmama820 It is an optical illusion caused by the light reflecting from the moon having to travel through the earth's atmosphere at an angle and the proximity of moon to trees or buildings on the horizon giving something to compare sizes to - hold your hand out at arm's length with your thumb up and compare it to a Harvest Moon then do the same thing when it is at its zenith - you won't see any difference. Or something like that.
Personally I go bonkers on a full moon because the voices tell me too...oh and my uncle, Feral Pete, is a werewolf. Theres no evidence for any of this, but its still science fact.
So if the moon pulls on the earth when it's above an area and can pull water, wouldn't it stand to reason that we would actually weigh less when the moon was directly overhead?
@seed419 yes we would weight less on scale. by the way there's also some areas on the planet, for example on higher ground one weights less because he's farther away from the planet mass, or underground one will weight more because he's being pulled harder towards the core of the planet
@DonMega187 i remember watching documentary where it was mentioned somewhere in canada there's a place where they adjust their scales to match the "norm"
@seed419 lol, I asked this question of an astrophysicist once. Didn't get any real answer. Seems logical doesn't it, and u should weigh incrementally more or less depending on how the Earth, sun and moon are all aligned.
@seed419 So if they're all in line, with the moon between the Earth and sun, and u are standing on the far, night side of the world also in perfect alignment, u have the gravitational effect of all 3 acting on u at their maximum. Swap sides on Earth and surely u should weigh less as 2 objects are now technically pulling u away from Earth instead of towards it?
@TheSoulDoubt yes you are correct but the moon is too small for people to feel the affects and the sun is too far away. the earth is bigger so it reacts to the gravity of the sun by going around it and to the moon by shifting back and forth on it's axis. you might weigh a fraction of a gram less in your scenario though
wait wait wait, i allways thought that moon same as sun appears bigger at horizont because of optical effect created by air near the surface of earth...
lol that they talk about is never the face of the moon. the face of the moon looks different and every knows what i mean.. he is laughing. its everytime the same smiling face
am I the only south African who watches this kinda stuff people?

3 reasons the moon does not create weird behaviour:\
1 - why just on a full moon? if it's the gravitational effect - it's always there regardless of phase.
2 - the moon's gravitation produces less effect on the human body than a mosquito on your arm
3 - the gravitation pull only occurs with open bodies of water - the human body is not an open body of water last time I checked.
Way to perpetuate stupidity and ignorance by including it as a serious topic.

When the Moon is full, night is brighter outside so people are more eager to go out and do something than just sleep
