I would also say that a raw diet that is healthful for one may not be so for someone else. Dr. Doug Graham advocates lots of fruits some veges and very little nuts and seeds. I believe his diet would help almost everyone short term but, it's the long term I'm wondering about. Dr. Peter D'Adamo advocates a diet based on our inherited blood type and includes in varying types and amounts on your specific blood type. Some Type of nuts are harmful to some but not others. Should this be considered?
your diet will leave you fine almost no matter what you eat, IF you don't screw with it too much first. i personally love my food and i love to feel FULL. this has led to my very large tummy. recently i have switched to a low calorie density diet, focusing as much as i can of vegies (not a vegan tho) and i'm now always FULL and losing weight FAST. bean and vegi stew FTW.
the fat in these nuts is high but the effort to open them self limits your eating. don't buy shelled nuts.
Doug Graham wouldn't agree here. How would humans without tools easily be able to open the nut shells and eat high quantities of nuts? We were not meant to eat a lot of fat it seems.
@fitzgeraldhimse I generally agree with you on this however, I wonder if at certain times of the year, it's okay for some people to eat more than Dr. Doug Graham would say is beneficial as long as during the rest of the year nut and seed consumption is very little, thus balancing out for the whole year. I think Doug may have talked about this as well.
Poly-unsaturated fats are good for you and Hydrogenated fats or oils are very bad for you!
If a fat or oils molecules contain double or triple bonds the fat or oil is said to be unsaturated, the hydrogenation process is the bubbling of hydrogen through an unsaturated fat or oil to make its consistency thicker, the method is used in fake butter making, you can bubble hydrogen through a vegetable oil and then it becomes a butter like substance which is really bad for you.
I have not realized that. Thanks. They do make me little thirsty.
By the way when the guy talks about needing more calories from fat then from carbs that means that he is Protein dominant type of metabolism. Which means his metabolism is supper fast and needs slowing down.
@topstot You r right in one sense only. And that's that nuts are concentrated fat like dry fruit is concentrated sugar neither of which should be eaten frequently unless your talking about very small amounts and that goes for all fats, even healthy fats from nuts, seed, avocados and oils.
I love fat! Nuts, seeds, coconut, chocolate, gimme gimme!
Watching him break those macadamias (it's weird to hear them called mac nuts!)reminds me of my childhood here in Australia. We used to go up to Queensland and sit down with a hammer and a bag of fresh macadamias and spend the afternoon eating them.
There's a special ridge where one hammer hit will break em open usually. Delicious!
lol, fat is great... sure

@fitzgeraldhimse I don't understand that logic. We have no qualms using cell phones, computers, airplanes, electricty. Why not a nut cracker?

nuts are basically dry fruit so you get dehydrated if you eat too many nuts...so lots of water.

There are 3 types of metabolisms:
Protein
Carbohydrate
And mixed (half protein, half carbs)
