In my opinion, Photoshop just takes a lot more skill to produce good results, since it's not made specifically for illustrators. There still are people that can do amazing things with PS, meaning it doesn't depend on the program alone.

PS is also a good tool for painting, indeed. Especially above CS5ex...

Those who really don't depend on programs can make incredibly amazing works using 'Paint' of Windows...

This does not mean the PS drawers are not good as them though... Just different on style.

@XF4T4LSTR1K3X if your looking to do some serious art rather than just doing sketches and doodles then I suggest getting an Intuos4.

Mine cost $350 for a medium intuos4, and was well worth it.

@GhPadua Most digital artists draw with a tablet. It would be nearly impossible to get anywhere near this using a mouse.

I'm very new to drawing this kind of style and have only just purchased Manga Studio Ex4, but I know how to use Maya quite well as I used to use it a lot to make video games. Trying to do a video that looks 'cartoony' rather than 3d using Maya along with MangaStudio - this is what I've got so far, but it's gonna take ages!

although, ive found MH tri a bit of a dissappointment in comparison to the rest of the series. also this new pure quest spam to get a new HR annoys me so much. I prefere it where skill of completing certain quests chooses HR, not how many times can u spam an easy quest. :\
