  • Excellent. Handled delicately with perfect syncopated essence. Bravo. :)

  • Very impressive. You're an excellent player. The piece itself is reminiscent of Gershwin, with all that syncopation.

  • FUCKING awesome ,. u are so talented after watching this I feel if i never could have played the piano ... oh fuck if I watch this im not getting jealous , just sad that im really bad in playing piano

  • Fantasiex3 you should sing in your videos!

  • How can ANYONE dislike this? For what POSSIBLE reason? :p

  • @Mistress1657 JEALOUSY

  • Hey Sherry! (this is Jason from IIYM a longggg time ago) I just discovered this piece like yesterday, and I stumbled over this! I wanna play this piece so bad, and also deciding whether to learn it now or when I go to college (I'm applying to Northwestern too!). Is this piece is hard? It seems very tiring :P

  • @dubblebubble898 Hey Jason, long time no chat! It's a pain to sightread, but it's really not that much harder than some of our standard repertoire. It would be really cool if you played it for your college auditions, the professors here knows this piece really well since I've played it for them so many times. XD Remind me what grade you're in right now? It would be so cool if you got into Northwestern!

  • cut out the f word guys. say what you really mean. this deserves more creative comments!

  • pleasantly surprised! mostly very clean. keep it up!

  • I've got school tommorow and I want to go to bed, but you won't let me D:

  • Very exciting piece! And clean performance.

  • She got the jazz...

  • Man this makes me wanna take piano lessons again

  • sherry is too sexy in this video

  • Fuck yeah Kapustin! I learned Etude 6 a few years ago and performed it last year, it's amazing! I'm currently working on Etude 1 and gaaaaah it's so much fun!!!

So back to this wonderful music that I'm hearing. You win, hard! If I had to make a single suggestion I would say try to bring out the bass more, but seriously, this is on its way to being fucking great!

  • KAPUSTIN IS AWESOMEE!!! I played the 3rd etude from the same opus, SO MUCH FUN!!

  • WHO THE FUCK DISLIKED THIS. THEY CAN GO DIE.

  • Bravissima!!! You play this very well!

  • Kyle has all of the Kapustin Etudes :P

  • @kylelandry Then Kyle should maybe learn one and post it on YouTube? ;)

  • @Fantasiex3 Remember I learned the first one? It seems like a pain to record Kapustin X_X

  • @kylelandry Oh, right! XD Hahah yeah it really is a pain.. -_-

  • @Fantasiex3 Can you play any (or all) of Chopin's Etudes?

  • @440HertzPiano I've played about half of them at some point in my life!

  • @Fantasiex3 Awesome!!! maybe you should upload a few sometime... :P Which one do you hate the most? Apparently Horowitz refused to play Op. 10, No. 1 in public. Have you ever attempted Liszt's transcendental etudes or etudes de Paganini? :D

  • @kylelandry Why oh why is it a pain to record Kapustin? I'm planning on recording one of the etudes myself, hopefully in the coming weeks >.<

  • I love this!! Question: the repeated f and g in the first measure, are you using your 2nd and 3rd fingers or do you change each time?

  • So I sat down to learn it, and man you make it look so easy. Especially the part with the right hand doing two rhythms at once, and you manage to bring out the melody there perfectly well. Sooo good!

  • ...marry me?

  • What is the name of the book? I want to give this piece a try :D Maybe others too

  • Can you teach me piano please, I'll pay you.

  • I still think this is the best version on YouTube of this piece. Great work!

  • What's your reach? Im having trouble with this piece, I can just barely reach 10.

  • I give up haha ;p

  • суууууперр!!!

  • Beautifull I Love This

  • Hells to the yes. I'm taking a gander at the Kapustin Concert Etudes and the First Sonata over the summer, and I know I want to start with this =D

  • not bad...

  • i like how u look like you're dancing with the music

  • Very well done. I'm nearly done learning No. 2 of the concert etudes. I think No. 6 might be next on my repertoire =]

  • This just goes to show and is a perfect example of NEVER GIVE UP! Look how well she played it in the video! Absolutely perfect performance! GREAT JOB I LOVED IT!

  • O_O!! you did about as well as youtube user fredericrouel did...i'd only say watch your tempo, as it appears that you are rushing somewhat. this is surely a gem, however.

  • omg - i love the ending. you are too cute!

  • You play it smoother than anyone I've seen so far, and you still say you don't have it down yet. xD You're amazing, keep it up!

  • my my... really nice played :D a bit like hamelins playing :) light and accurate performance :)

  • Can we get married?

  • :'D

  • 10000th viewer! Oh, that looks hard to play, I enjoy everyone who can play at that speed. And that's quite a piano model!

  • YAY YOU WIN

caus you dont give up ;)

  • Seeing that "outtake" made me wonder... did this take many takes?

  • WOW! Probably the best version of this I've ever heard. That speed completely changes the whole thing, and you're perfectly comfortable with it. Congratulations! :D

I'm supposed to play all the etudes in a concert tomorrow but now I'm starting to think I shouldn't play that one, and try to "relearn" it and emulate your style... >_>

  • Hey sherry is it possible to just tell me the title of the book so i can order it...? I'm not trying to necessarily ask for sheets since I'm gonna buy it myself.

But other than that.. how is this possible to play! Lol

  • hi guys i have the complete sheetmusic of kapustin and just contact with for the link

  • Can you do it with your eyes closed?

  • I've never heard this one before - but it sounds really good.

I tried to learn toccatina but when it gets to two independant things going on in one hand i lose it.

Anyway keep up the great work :)

  • Love your cresendo and decresendo !!!! Feels more groovy ~

P.S I think tighten hair is more 이뻐요. 묶고 다니세요 :) 귀국연주회 이런거 안하실려나? 심씨 보이면 꼭 보러 갈께요 ^^ 앵콜은 꼬오오오옥 이걸루 !!!!!!!!

  • Have you ever thought of playing in a front ensemble in a drum corps?

  • hard trying~ but success at the end~

  • I bet those big sunglasses helped you play and see music thats not there.

  • Uber fast. Impressive speed.

  • HOLY FUCKING SHIT YOU WIN INDEED.

    subscribed.

  • thanks I like kapustin...genial!

  • Don't move your arms or fingers when your play - you will be more relaxed.

    you're awesome :D

i must play this one day

  • It's still amazing no matter how many times I watch it. :D Absolutely amazing! I was wondering, what time signature is it in? I can't quite put my finger on it since it's so freakin fast. xD

  • @zamusician Oh wait nevermind, it's in 4/4. xD Wow...

  • By god Sherry yoo are ever fantastic :]

  • I am SO HAPPY to find that someone else in Chicago who is working on this piece. It rocks! I am still working on getting my head, not mention my hands, around it.

    (I am down at U of C)

Keep playing ! Don't give up! These pieces are JUST THE BEST THING TO HAVE HAPPENED TO PIANO PLAYERS EVERYWHERE!!

Now I am also listening to Opus 40 number 5 .... The Fats Waller sections seem like so much fun.

  • omg ur amazing !! how u move ur hand so fast without hitting a note by accident??

  • wow, excellent performance...energy, technique- It had everything..I think you delivered what Kapustin intended ;)

    Chapeau!

  • Wow, that was...amazingly amazing...and it seems like such a hard piece too - wouldn't be surprised if it really took you that many retakes, lol:D Love your playing, and this piece too!!!^^

  • one word - wow.

  • Sherry Kim is on a league of her own. ;D

  • I was about to ask "how long did it take you to learn this piece!?" and well I'm glad I kept watching for the blooper! Really cool song.

  • By any chance, did you hear about this piece from Chelsea? I heard her play this 2 weeks ago...and...you know paul?!?!?! Funny how all of us know each other xD You're the only one I haven't met in real life yet! I had the same teacher as paul and now the same as chelsea :P

By the way, really great job! Hehe, I'm learning this too at the moment. I can really tell how much you enjoy playing it ^^

  • got lost in the motion?? (menas you get a 5 star)

  • You should play Requiem for a Dream!

If it's not too easy for you.

  • lol I feel so inferior just looking at a piano now...

  • uuuggghhh I give up too... my temporal lobe can't take much more of this awesomesauce piano playing... now excuse me while I go pick my jaw up off the ground. great job fanasiex3, looking so forward to ur next video

  • LOL!! aww :) good job on not giving up! =D

  • I wish I could play like you!! Amazing.

  • OMG!!!! AWESOME!!!! :D

  • Wow, super. You make it look so damn easy! I"m working on #2, which I think is not nearly as challenging. (Or maybe its challenges are just different, I can't tell yet.) Would love to hear you play #7. (P.S....loved the outtake at the end, I SO get that!)

  • Sherry I feel you've become a stronger pianist :) and I'm working hard to keep that status quo so we can pwn together as SA Wannabe

  • Kapustin sounds like a lot of fun. :D

  • This is f...ing awesome!

One other thing...how do you guys all find GREAT piano books overseas >.>; I was in China and couldn't find a thing :(

  • Comment removed

  • Also the beginning right hand is detached right?

  • Do you use the pedal at all in this piece? I would like to know, it sounds very fluid!

  • and never give up o:

  • awesome like always, realllly nice ^_^

  • LOOOOOOOOVE IT! (specially the bit at the end haha) hope all is well!

  • Freakin Awesome.

***Now officially a fan of Kapustin***

  • Three words: Oh. My. God.

You are too beast! :3 I also <3 your shirt~

  • who knows, you might get featured in their next video! :D great job, as always, sherry kim! :)

  • please please play toccatina!! <3

  • @Fantasiex3 i didnt mean it in a hard way Dx shoot... >< im very envious of your playing. i wanna play contemp. classical(?) music with as much passion as you do.

  • As usual, awesome!

  • Insane skill, I love Kapustin, hard to perfect, yet pianistic and beautiful all at the same time!!!!!!!!!! I am glad to see there are more Kapustin fans out there!

    Love,

    Kyle

  • @kylelandry Also, I'm loving the blooper, reminds me of my Chopin Nocturne video haha. *chuckles as he hugs his pdf full of the concert etudes*

  • so epic. O_O like seriously.

  • HOLY MOTHER GOOSE D: so prooo = o= It's like as soon as you sit down, BAM you start rocking that computer c:

  • <_<......BEAST!!!!! XD

  • You never disappoint. ^^

  • Love all your vids, quite talented if i do say so myself. You have inspired me to take on pieces i never thought I would do haha such as the third theme of naruto

  • LOL WONG FU NOTICED YOUR CHANNEL!

  • I saw "Nikolai Kapustin - Concert Etud..." on my YouTube subscription, and I thought "GASP! Did Sherry finally..." and then I clicked and saw "No. 6" and I totally deflated hahaha.

Nice job though. You make right hand leaps look way too easy. I could only play 3-4 pages of No. 3 Toccatina after working on it for 4-5 weeks (which I'm still waiting very patiently for your upload of it ^_^)

  • WOW GREAT JOB. Thanks for the support. You are extremely talented. Keep it up =)

  • haha nice videos dont give up :)

    Fighting !!

  • This was great! I look forward to hearing more and more :)

    Max

  • are you gonna do anymore bleach stuff or zelda or mario or something, don't get me wrong you play classical great its just i have no idea what these songs are lol

  • @tokenking420 Then you shall learn! haha :P just kidding man I love those songs too

  • @MaxLucasPiano lol :)

  • i loveeee it ! so fun !

  • Wow, what a cool piece! Glad you introduced me to this composer =P It really only took you one quarter to get this far? Major props sherry! keep it up =)

  • o_O Pianists amaze me! I find it nearly impossible to read two staves, especially when they are (usually) two different clefs...

    Keep up the fantastic work!

  • Did you add extra jazziess to this or is that just the composers style?

  • @LittleScheer Noo there is absolutely no personal improv done by me. Kapustin is just a really jazz-y classical composer, like Gerswhin. :)

  • @Fantasiex3 Hey, did you start playing this one slowly or did you jump straight to maximum speed? Its just because I like the control you have over your fingers at that speed, I make so many mistakes speeding up that it takes me a long time to reach the pieces true tempo. Good luck!.

  • @Tileal I had to start this out slowly haha. Speed was never really a problem for me... after many, MANY repetitions... speed just comes naturally to me. I've been working on this piece for about 4-5 weeks now.

  • @LittleScheer I also got that jazzie feeling from it.

  • wow...amazing....

  • FINALLY Someone else plays this piece!

  • I wonder if you know

    when fantasiex3 plays the piano

if you see it, then you mean it then you know that she's damn pro

    fast and furious....drift drift drift

    fast and furious....

(haha. this was what I thought when your fingers freaking flew across the keyboard...)

  • oh great, i'm playing this since almost a year! but your speed is amazing, so far i've only uploaded a slow version with a bit of pedal. this version is more like the kapustin or hamelin recording, staccato ftw! let's see if i can bring it to that level for the upcoming recital, thanks for reminding me =)

  • work in process O.o for me it's amazing already :D

  • you should quit playing the piano :\

  • Sounded like piani, hehe. 'Loved that ending btw. ^^

  • IS THAT NICE GUY SHIRT IS SEE :D

  • are those glasses actual glasses or a fashion accessory LOL

  • woah amazing =] glad im subscribed

  • "Yay I win" :D

  • hahaha you counted the retakes :p

Thanks for posting another awesome piano piece.

Will make sure to look up music from Kapustin :D

  • *Jaw Drops....*

    HOLY SHIT!

  • What era was Kasputin?

  • @UltimaXG2 His concert etudes were published in the 1980's. He is a contemporary composer. You can even find recordings of him playing his own concert etudes on YouTube.
