Looks like a Locusta to me: the leg striping seems to match. Chances are this is a US video, so it's pretty likely it could be a L. migratoria, seeing as they're often sold in the US as livefood. Here in Europe you only get S. gregaria for sale, though, so I'm pretty used to those.

But then again it could just be colour variations etc, and I'm probably wrong lol.

But anyway, it's nice to see someone else who knows their bugs.^_^

yes, the mantis had no grip, also usually the mantis doesn't hunt on the ground, so when it grabs a hopper, the hopper has no ground under its feet to jump..
