I agree commercial success isn't a good way to value artists. She has her own language and must not be compared to other singers. I regret the band and the songs are commercial, I'm not saying they play soup, just that there is a ditch between her singing and the comp. There is no such problem with Dianne Reeves, Lisa Fisher (Rolling Stones), Tina or Joni Mitchell (any band she had). There's a full osmosis with the group, and I don't find it here.

The album she did with George Duke back in the 90's was commercially accepted. I personally think it was some of her best work. Sometimes an artist needs a producer to edit the expression.. She could do what she wants live but she really should put a few radio friendly cuts on her next CD. This song is one of the George Duke cuts that I really like.

I agree with you -- but I am willing to bet --If Rachelle cut her songs to 3.5 to 4.0 minutes she could sell millions of CDs. But I am sure Rachelle, like most talented people -- she won't comprise her talent. I am telling all my friends to help -- go out and buy Rachelle's music -- she is way overdue.

The crowd is quiet because she has captivated them and they are uner her spell, they are spell bound by the uniqeness of her voice and all that she has to offer and they are awestruck in great appreciation of her gift / talent.
Just as one would stare quitely at a painting so as to study it and undertake the beauty of it. The same applies here too in this case.

There has to be an overwhelming market for Rachelle to reach the high status that she so richly deserve, she has tremendous jazz influence in her music and jazz like Gospel and blues is not supported like other sectors of music such as rap (crap) R&B and other forms of music.

The album she did with George Duke back in the 90's was commercially accepted. I personally think it was some of her best work. Sometimes an artist needs a producer to edit the expression.. She could do what she wants live but she really should put a few radio friendly cuts on her next CD. This song is one of the George Duke cuts that I really like.

Well, she can't be compared to anyone in the industry period. But there are some great ones, even in the younger generation. RF has beaucoup range but people get caught up in that. I am about how they use their voice as an intrusment, what they bring to table with their voice especially with live instruments fitting in. That's the mark of a great vocalist.

Well, I think Bey actually could. I know that's not a popular statement, but I know that this girl can and does use her voice as an instrument. Mimics different instruments. I mean, Rachelle would blow her away but she basically blows everyone away. she's the best vocalist ever. The rest of them would get blown away too. Only vocalists(Bessie Smith, Ella Fitgerald, Sarah Vaughn for example) who are dead could stay with this woman. She's that great.

Well there is a reason for Rachelle's voice and why no one can or will ever touch her, she was born with 10 or 11 octaves I believe she said, and she is actually working on trying to hit 12, no one has that singing out there, she could sing opera or anything she wants. No one is in her league!!! Her brother is amazing as well!
