Well Alan, while you're at it, let's remind ourselves that there were no massive oil spills under the Obama administration, except the BP one (Obama is just as responsible for that as Bush was for Hurricane Katrina...which is none). There were no tax increases during the Obama administration (except the one that Obama enacted, wait...nevermind I think there was more than one). And furthermore, there was no wasteful spending multiple times higher than Bush's administration...wait...nevermind.

The reason is that entrepeneurs need start up money to produce things or services, if only the rich a money that can be put to use (liquidity) then only they can start businesses. We're going to take half of it because we don't feel you deserve that money.' Taxes have one purpose, and that is to fund the necessary programs for government to function. It is NOT used as a means to control social class or the economy. It never has been nor should it ever be.

Point out where in the constitution it says that the government has the right to tell companies what they can and cannot pay employees. Everytime they raise the minimum wage, companies do one of two things to compensate. They either A. Fire employees so they can afford to pay the other ones or B. raise the price of their products, increasing inflation. Most workers are paid above minimum wage anyway.

@dunkelfier Do some homework on Japan deflation isin't a good thing and since getting 0% inflation year after year is hard to maintain inflation is at 1-3%. Prices have changed over the century but we are not worse off for it, because it was a slow change.

That's not how it works. All the companies will do is 'pass the bill' on to the consumers and the prices of their products will go up. I've said this several times, I don't know how to explain it any clearer. Same thing happens when government raises taxes on a business.

@dunkelfier The government is raising capital gains tax because it is very low and because traders get capital gains not dividends. These traders change the market constanly and disadvantage companies. As for government control let me remind you the government is commited to footing the bill with no oversight so it's spent specificly for those companies. Also there is ample liquidity (for banks), plenty of wealth but little wealth creation for the private sector.
@zxcvbnmjhgfdsa1 Raising taxes only eliminates wealth from the private sector, the wealth that's used to create jobs there. Obama has added thousands of jobs, but they're all government, that doesn't help the economy either, that's just a bigger use of tax money.

America won't ever have private investment as a stimulus because America can never compete with China. Wages can fall, deregulation, lower taxes and money will go to China. There is no alternative to government job creation and government investment in the few things China can't do. If America plays the free market game, the country will lose!

The whole reason China does better in that area is because they neglect human rights (which is wrong), and their workers have a much lower standard of living. Raising taxes on companies here isn't going to make the competition any better for us, because we'll have to raise prices even higher on our products, and, like you said, China will beat us.

@zxcvbnmjhgfdsa1 My suggestion is that corporations should be doing the right thing on their own, BP screwed up bad, and now they're going to pay dearly for it. I for one will never be doing business with them again, such as big disaster is what causes big corporations to fall. That alone should give them incentive to not screw up like BP did. But when government screws up, they rarely ever take the fall. They can just pass laws pardoning themselves, that's why they shouldn't get more power.
@dunkelfier Corperations are institutions that are made for the sole purpose of making money. Psycologicly they are psycopaths as demonstrated in the film the corperation. BP will survive despite destroying whole industries for decades bacause of American courts. Corperations influence the law as well! @dunkelfier I can't go over cases where the media didn't report corperate scandals because it wasin't reported. The government has constant media attention while companies have huge corruption (least of which is CEO pay) and large corperate failures and yet nobody talks about bad corperate leadership. Right now most industries aren't all that competitive and are extremely profitable, marketting increases the size of industries with this characteristic. Raising minimum wages will decrease profits but allow corperations to remain in business and continue to make money.

Point out where in the constitution it says that the government has the right to tell companies what they can and cannot pay employees. Everytime they raise the minimum wage, companies do one of two things to compensate. They either A. Fire employees so they can afford to pay the other ones or B. raise the price of their products, increasing inflation. Most workers are paid above minimum wage anyway.

That's not how it works. All the companies will do is 'pass the bill' on to the consumers and the prices of their products will go up. I've said this several times, I don't know how to explain it any clearer. Same thing happens when government raises taxes on a business.

These traders change the market constanly and disadvantage companies. As for government control let me remind you the government is commited to footing the bill with no oversight so it's spent specificly for those companies. Also there is ample liquidity (for banks), plenty of wealth but little wealth creation for the private sector.

The whole reason China does better in that area is because they neglect human rights (which is wrong), and their workers have a much lower standard of living. I for one will never be doing business with them again, such as big disaster is what causes big corporations to fall. That alone should give them incentive to not screw up like BP did. But when government screws up, they rarely ever take the fall. They can just pass laws pardoning themselves, that's why they shouldn't get more power.

Right now most industries aren't all that competitive and are extremely profitable, marketting increases the size of industries with this characteristic. Raising minimum wages will decrease profits but allow corperations to remain in business and continue to make money.

Grayson's right. The only stupid one here is someone who can understand that someone saying that no terrorist attacks occurred under Bush, or that his presidency was any sort of success.
That fucker didn't keep us as safe as he said he did. After 9/11, we got Hurricane Katrina, and he did nothing for a week, and more people died because of it. And he killed thousands of soldiers because of his daddy's blood-feud. Wake up.

I remember a time when Republicans actually were a reality based party. It was a long time ago.
Today, they have no core values except greed, fear, inspiring fear in others, fake moralistic nonsense and that old-time fake religion.

Yes, BOTH parties are run by their fringes. That is because they keep the debate and primary process closed to ONLY their own. Then, we get to vote for whomever THEY decide..because we all know that the bulk of primary election voters are "enthusiasts". Hence, we wind up voting for the lesser of the two available evils. Until we have term limits, it won't change. We need a citizen's congress like the old days, NOT career politicians who know nothing of their communities, anymore.

Is justice served when Alan Grayson takes money from taxpayers to distribute as he sees fit?
Congress can't manage its own purse, and therefore comes once again to the taxpayers to fund its profligate budgets. But we are hurting too. If Congress can't manage its budget, we should elect people who will. Someone has to be an adult and say no to the insane, bankrupt attitudes that permeate our Congress.
