  • No words OMG OMG OMG

  • There are days, litsening to Maria Callas, I think "was she real?" I mean how can she be so perfect?

  • celeste Maria

    forma divina....

    loves it!

  • Absolutely faboulous singing.. unparralleled .. Wonderfull. Is this from the 1953 studio recording of Lucia?

  • ah maria callas...her voice flows through my ears...her music comforts me...

  • Absolutely Beautiful. Thanks for shating

  • My goodness - sounds to me like Callas' Fach!!! And thanks for the early photos! This is just wonderful - thank uuuu, Paul:) I just love this!!

  • Thank you for sharing this. I would just add that in your information about Callas, she returned to the Met in 1965 in Tosca opposite Franco Corelli, not Richard Tucker.

  • You are correct Rachel. The text is from Wiki. This is the cast listing: 19 March 1965 Tosca: New York, Metropolitan/F.Cleva Floria Tosca Maria Callas Mario Cavaradossi Franco Corelli Il barone Scarpia Tito Gobbi Cesare Angelotti Clifford Harvuot Il sagrestano Lawrence Davidson Spoletta Andrea Velis Sciarrone Russell Christopher Un pastore Stuart Fischer Un carceriere Robert Goodloe
  • Dream cast, indeed!

  • The above is correct, as far as it goes; but the second (and final) of her two appearances in TOSCA at the Met, on March 25, 1965, WAS with Richard Tucker as Cavaradossi. She had wanted the same Cavaradossi for both performances, and Mr. Bing had intended to cast Tucker in both performances, but he was unwilling to relinquish the broadcast of AIDA (his first at the Met) on March 20, so she wound up with Corelli for one (PHENOMENAL) performance and Tucker for one.

  • Callas' return to the Met- Two performances of Tosca. First one with Franco Corelli~ Second one with Richard Tucker.

  • TWO PERFORMANCES. FIRST ONE with Franco Corelli. SECOND ONE with RICHARD TUCKER!!
