YAY! Okay I have been trying to identify this sort of genre of music for the longest time. I wanna learn how to write things like this because it's absolutely gorgeous :D Anyhow , could anyone please give me some idea of what to call this exact style? It's just a beautiful melody and doesn't need to be put in a pigeonhole for people to get it.

this is such a cool instrument. today outside my city library i saw this guy playing one of those and i was fascinated by an instrument i had never seen before. i'd really like to see someone step up to the plate and make this instrument cool. some unknown musician who becomes mainstream with a hit single involving a nyckelharpa. that would be pretty cool

How much would a aspiring Nyckelharpa player need to spend on average for a NH fit for learning to play? Nothing special. I just have always wanted to try the instrument, but I don't want to spend a ton of money on a beautiful instrument that may not work out for me.

The violin has four strings. The nyckelharpa can have up to three melody strings, one drone, and 12 sympathetic. Does that answer you question?

Depends on how you define "require". The sympathetic strings are not needed, but it sounds better if you tune them.

I think a nyckelharpa is easier to tune than a fiddle.

The nyckelharpa has additional resonance strings that make it sound a little fuller. Articulation is a little different too because of the keys. For more detailed information in English best check the official website of the American nyckelharpa asociation.

Vackert! Jag har precis börjat spela nyckelharpa..Började idag, haha:P Men redan älskar jag det. Jag kan bara spela snyggt på den ljusaste strängen...På dom andra låter det kasst. Men det ska jag träna upp:)

Eftersom jag spelar gitarr vet jag vart tonerna ligger, och har vänsterhans tekniken inne för fullt...Men detta med stråken är svårare tycker jag:)

Yes, it has swedish roots. The one in vasen that plays nyckelharpa have wrote it.

Actually, the tune was written by Vasen's guitar/bouzouki player, Roger Talroth. I believe he wrote it for his niece. 'tis a lovely tune, indeed.

The song "dopvals" means if you translate it from swedish to english "the waltz of a baptism", where "dop" means baptism and "vals" waltz.

Hur mycket kostar en nyckelharpa?

Det beror på vad du är ute efter. En ny eller en gammal. Jag vet folk som tillvkerar rellativt billiga och bra. Men vissa kostar runt 25 000 andra runt 14 000(vilket är billigt) Det man tjänar på att köpa en begagnad är att dom är billig och är träet är inspelat. En bra begaganad kostar runt 10 000

MEn det finns billigare;) KAnske behöver lite arbete
