Swimming glitch is useful in a speedrun in both God of War II and III, but not so much in I. Too few locations where to use it, some locations are slow to reach and difficult to use, and you tend to get stuck.

It's almost the same as in GoW 1, except that you have to press 'square' between each roll. To jump from a roll, you got to first press 'square', then 'X', which makes it a bit less convenient than the GoW 1 roll.
There isn't any water in the Area you left at. Unless you can swim (clip) to the box you won't be able to R2 it. Even then..you won't be able to push the box either. If you could..then you could just swim past Hades which would be great.
There is an abundance of water that you might be able to use prior to the Ares fight however.
I watched this part of ballofsnow's run, and the game stopped to load near the bottom of the stairs. How come I missed this trigger? Maybe the model of Kratos was too 'low' to hit it, practically hugging the ground all the time.
I tried it out, but it wasn't that. Sometimes the game is very strict on the exact spot where you must go by, f.e. the strange pile of junk after Traps of Madness which, without going over it, leaves the next elevator unloaded.
See if you can find a way to swim past the Ares boss fight trigger. If so, you may be able to swim your way Olympus, though I wouldn't be surpised if the gateway is not yet opened at that point.
That's a very nice idea. But yeah, I wouldn't be surprised either. But still... perhaps they saved time and only made one set of the "final" suicife bluffs map, with the swordbridge already gone. (you never see it, after all...)

Yes. Satvara made a vid in which he swims to pandora's box. Unfortunately you can't push the box while swimming, so you just get stuck.

You couldn't do anything to the box while swimming, so this whole trick, while easy to deploy, becomes impossible to finish.

Regretable. It would have been Super Sweet to swim through Hades as there are plenty of watery places in Athens with no R2 actions to worry about.

Strange that the conveyor belt doesn't load. Perhaps the skull is what triggers it, but I honestly find that hard to believe.

In the final map of the suicide bluffs, the bridge is still collision, so it has a better chance of being the same map with the bridge being shown.

You can swim under the skull-locked door, so it's not a problem. (unless opening that door is the missing loading point which keeps me stuck)
