just got my cd this is great, it is real rock and roll, Leon is great as is Rev. Patrick, i have most all his cds, this is different, love it, Leon was here in our area on last Sunday, he was great as always, talked a lot, which is unusual for him, told the cricket story, he recorded here in Muscle Shoals in 69 or 70, i don't remember. this song is 1st cut on album.Also features Kathi McDonald on some vocals.(Groupie) by Bonnie and Delaney.

It's very difficult to know who is playing what from an audio recording but just to set the record straight:

PIANO: Reverend Patrick Henderson

GUITAR: LEON RUSSELL (listen for the applause, he then JUMPS ON TOP OF Patrick's piano for the guitar parts!)

BACK VOCALS: Black Grass (Phyllis Lindsay, Mary Lindsay, Nawasa "Waycee" Crowder)

@jon1156 His name is Don Preston. He was in Leon's band "The Shelter People". He also played at The Concert for Bangladesh and the Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour.

I do believe Leon is the best thing since peanut butter...Will be watching you and Elton on Oct.19,20,on Good Morning America..the new CD the union will be in my hands on Oct.19 when it's released...I know this will get u into the rock n roll hall of fame which is long overdue...

That's kinda weird that Japanese were into Leon in 1973.  The have an idol worship of Americans, at least the ones in Japan do.

@Bombeni You're right about that idol worship in Japan. My 22 year old niece who attends OSU went there last year on a Marching Band scholarship, battle of the marching bands or some weird thing like that, and she said young Japanese girls flocked around them the whole week they were there, like they were some kind of superstars. Straaannnge.
